F... getting sick
I have that "coming down with something" feeling today. Man I hate this. I think this wacky weather probably has something to do with it.
|
Re: F... getting sick
I hate that feeling. And you're right, this crazy ass weather ain't helping either. For the first time in my life I'm asking "when are we getting snow??"
I kinda miss the (real) winter. :( |
Re: F... getting sick
Me too. That's why I don't live in FL because I WANT seasons. Come on snow.

Re: F... getting sick
I can't remember the last time I was actually sick for a long period of time. I get pretty bad headaches a couple of times a week but I've had them for so long that I've learned to deal with them (I think I need a CAT scan or something) and I get head colds in the fall and spring because of allergies but somehow I seem to avoid things like the flu or food poisoning or whatever every year. I also feel hungover from time to time for some reason ;), but I probably haven't been really sick in 10 years. I guess I'm either lucky, or the filthy house that I lived in back in college built up my immunity to extraordinary levels.
Watch, tomorrow I'll be puking all day long. |

Re: F... getting sick
Yeah I was sick all last week. The wacky weather was definitely a factor
|
Re: F... getting sick
Yep, I was sick last week for about 36 hours coming out both ends. It's a bad stomach virus floating around down here in TX as EVERYONE in my office has had it in the past two weeks.

and now for a little Robin's Egg Blue...
|
Re: F... getting sick
I had a rough cold about 2 weeks ago, but nothing serious. I don't usually get horribly sick...
However, allergies kick in at the beginning of spring, and I'll go a few weeks where kleenex and meds rule the roost. |

Damnit. Now I feel like I'm coming down with something today. Post nasal drip, scratchy throat, mild headache. I think you got me sick, Matty. |

This reminds me why I like to stay away from people from December through March. I'll take 2 weeks of the common cold, 5 days of the flu before I'll take a 12-hour stomach virus. Time to go get more hand sanitizer. |

Re: F... getting sick
I am a certified germaphobe and I go through a couple of the big bottles of Purell a month. If you can't get to it, or haven't washed your hands thoroughly, as long as you don't touch your food, or put your fingers in your mouth for any reason, your chances of catching the stomach virus (medically known as Norovirus) go way down.
The problem is eating out -- you can still catch it if someone who has it handled your food. I also try to cut down on eating out during the sick season. |

That's exactly how I feel, but I've been really tired too. Yesterday when I got home from work I went right to bed and slept until about 7:30, I got up and got something to eat and went back to bed around 10:30. I feel a little better today but I'm still tired. |

Re: F... getting sick
I am now just getting over an upper respiratory infection that is now on Day #13.
UGH. I missed a week of work (paid, luckily), but honestly I would've rather been working than at home feeling THAT crappy. |
Re: F... getting sick
I've been overdosing myself all week on Cold-eeze, Airborne, and Zicam.
I've gotta say that while I'm still a little under the weather, it hasn't blown up into a full blown, miserable cold. |
Re: F... getting sick
Matty, I asked the pharmacist about Zicam -- if you take a one-a-day vitamin with zinc, it has the same effect.
That'll save you about 10 bucks, but any way you can boost your immune system it'll shorten the duration and lessen the severity of a cold. So there you go. Free advice from the germaphobe. |
Re: F... getting sick
I'm all over it, I already take a one a day vitamin with zinc.
|
Re: F... getting sick
So I got the flu already. It freaking sucks.
I felt a bit under the weather on Monday, so I took off. I felt fine and worked all mid-week. Thursday afternoon I started feeling like shit. Friday morning I had like a 101 fever and the works. Drs say flu. wtf, flu season hasnt even fully hit. Last two years I never got the flu. This year two or three people already had the flu at my work. That plus the hysteria of H1N1, is making this winter season really interesting. Just FYI, the doctor and nurse I saw said they would never get the H1N1 vaccine because of the lack of research. |

Re: F... getting sick
I've had a cold for about a week now and I've grown rather sick of it. My immune system is still pure and utter shit from all of the antibiotics I took for lyme disease, so I expect to have this another 1-2 weeks. ugh.

Medical personnel are the first people who should be inoculated. By the way the vaccine is the exact same vaccine they use every year. All they do is change the virus within the vaccine. There's nothing new to test. |
Re: F... getting sick
I'm curious if anyone has had swine flu yet? A buddy had it over the summer and was incapacitated for like a week. Then I overheard people talking about milder strains of H1N1 where you get sick but not scary, hospitalized sick.
...and then I came down w/ the weirdest crap I've ever had. No head cold but insane aches and pains and a lot of pain in my lungs, and super serial tiredness of course. It's weird for me cuz I get a couple head colds every year but never the flu. So do I have swine flu? BTW I'm not going to the damn doctor to find out. One of my girlfriends had it over the summer and went in...they basically told her to stay in bed for as long as it takes. |

sorry, forgot that they cured the cold and flu 2 years ago |
Re: F... getting sick
LOL? I think you missed the point.
But back to what The Goat was saying, the doctors basically told me the same thing. They were pretty sure I dont have H1N1, but they said there are milder versions without fever. But those generally have severe gastrointestinal symptoms. Vomiting, pain, bad poops etc. Lack of energy as well. It just can be confounded with a stomach flu. Either way H1N1 isnt that big of a deal for most people. You jsut have to rest, etc. Not much different to really do, beside taking Tamiflu. Also based on new CDC suggestions they wouldnt give me Tamiflu! Due to low supply its only for the old, young and chronically ill. I begged, but it didnt help. I shouldve lied and said I had asthma |
