Should I get a xbox 360?
 

I'm thinking about getting the 360, mainly for Gears of War. I'm on the fence, I need to be pushed over the edge. Help convince me to get a 360. :)

I wanted a 360 for that same reason, well for Halo as well but that Gears of War commercial just had me wanting a 360. My wife ended up getting me a Wii which is no slouch believe me. But if all you need is a "yeah I would take a 360 for Gears of War" then you've got one!

I played gears of war and didnt like it, but to each his own...

honestly the ps3 is a better value... a blue ray dvd player is 700 bucks on its own... and the built in wifi saves you 90 bucks (if you go with the xbox wireless crap they sell) pluss the memory card readers etc...



I like my 360, but I'm getting a ps3 as well... I just got it for madden and it great for that!

I just got the Wii yesterday and it's a bloody workout. I was sweating my balls off from playing Wii Sports. I vote you go get a Wii and get a workout while having fun. Personally I don't give a crap about blue-ray. I just can't justify paying $600 for the PS3 right now. Plus the PS3 doesn't have Gears.

i didnt pay 600 i payed 200 my brother has connections but it is worth 600 but people dont wanna buy it

I have only played socom on PSP, which it sucked. I have seen some of your post in the past about it. If you like on-line gaming gears is the best.

selling your body to stockbrokers isnt called having connections.

that being said, from a pure FUN standpoint, saden is spot-on. the wii is AWESOMe. you could play wii sports for weeks and not need another single game.

Gears is nothing like SOCOM. Gears is a game like no other and is REALLY good and worth buying a 360 by itself. Remember, there are other great things too like Rainbow Six:Vegas, XBOX LIVE Marketplace where you can download HD Movies, Game Demos and tons of other content. If you like online gaming, XBOX is the ONLY way to go as PS3 online is straight up azz.

I say buy the 360 because things are only going to improve in the coming months with Halo 3, Mass Effect, Huxley (MMO) and many others.

Is Rainbow Six anything like Ghost Recon? I played that and fell asleep, it was sooo easy.

Well I do have a plasma tv in my living room, but all my gaming stuff is in my computer room. I'd probably primarily keep it hooked up in my computer room and maybe hook it up in the living room for special occasions.

I guess another HDTV will be on my shopping list next. ;)

Gears of War is an amazing game, one of the best I have ever played. I was sad when I beat it - I didn't want it to end.

With PS3 being 600 dollars now, you can buy a 360 instead, play it for 2-3 years, then buy a ps3 for 300-400 dollars once the games finally eclipse 360. That way you get two systems for the price of one. It would be one thing if PS3 had a ton of exclusive games right now, but there is really nothing worth playing. Gamespot even did a side by side comparison of games for 360 and PS3 and found that the same game tended to look better on 360.

Anyway, I couldn't be happier with my 360. BTW, T Woods is nasty. You can't shoot 30 under anymore like on ps2.

360 is tha SHIZZLE! XBOX live is friggin awesome...they're gamerscore and achievements system is phenominal! The downloadable content is extra groovy and their lineup of games never ceases. I ALMOST bought a Ps3 at launch because I am a Metal Gear Solid FANATIC and i have to get it when it comes out. I read about 2 days later that Capcom ( makers of SF and Megaman, Resident Evil) and Hideo Kojima (creator of MGS) would be making their games for the 360 as well and not just PS3 as expected. 360 is such a better value but I will say that PS3's wireless POOPS on the Xbox's so, theres that. Xbox live is great, the games are great, its a graphic MIND**** sometimes and friggin Madden 07 looks so real I think Im watching game clips sometimes. I mean, I can see the sweat on Brunell's face when the blitzing MLB is staring his ass down ready to pound him. In short,

PS3-not such a good deal at this point
360- best all around system with the most functionality
Wii- the shit. period. too fun for words....

Wii or 360: those are your options.

Gears is an awesome game but the edge the 360 has at this point is that Gears isn't the only sweet game for the system unlike the PS3 with Resistance and the Wii with Zelda. You've also got Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Oblivion, Rainbow Six, Condemned, Splinter Cell, Table Tennis, Lego Star Wars, and the newly released Crackdown as well as a few others. And when taking into consideration some of the games coming out for each system for the next few monthes, the 360 has the edge again with the PS3 and Wii fighting it out for the second spot with just a couple sweet looking games a piece. If serious about the 360, take a look at some stuff for the upcoming Bioshock, Mass Effect, Command & Conquer, Guitar Hero 2(which will have a butt load of downloadable content), Blue Dragon, and Huxley as well as games for multiple systems like Assasin's Creed, Unreal 3, Two Worlds, and GTA 4. I personally don't see why anyone would pay the extra $200 when multiple game developers have said that the PS3 will primarly be playing ports of the 360 games just because of the degree of difficulty involved in programming for the PS3. Must be nice for some to pay that extra $200 for the brand name attached to the system.

The money I've spent on my 360 has been my most enjoyed purchase ever including my car, my Wii, my PS2, my DS, and my pc among others with my HDtv being the only thing even close but they kinda compliment each other well, haha.

Rainbow Six is all about the multiplayer experience! The SP is ok, but its all about XBOX LIVE and playing with friends and having a good time. I have spent countless hours on the Rainbow series and will continue to do so with the new map pack (downloadable on XBOX LIVE MARKETPLACE) in March.

Get the 360, its worth it!

Wii Sports is the SHIT !!!! The training mini games are fun, I play the bowling one where it keeps adding pins and you have to get strikes. I'm almost through with Zelda then it's on to Ultimate Alliance. I haven't played Madden on it but for about 5 min. I want Call of Duty 3 but my wife got this bundle pack for me with like 6 games so I have to play those too. Can't wait for Tiger Woods on the Wii !

I'm making the same debate Matty. I have an Xbox, and since they stopped making games for it, I'm SOL once the new round of EA games comes out. So I'll probably get a 360 here soon...

The Wii is fun and when Tiger Woods comes out for it, look out. Being able to actually swing the club and its only $250 can't beat that. I'd get the wii for playing sports games (except madden) and entertaining alone, but 360 for adult type gameplay .. does that make sense?

it's pretty sweet so far, but I can easily see some complaining about how short it is. I love these types of games and the freedom to do anything I want for hours on end like Incredible Hulk, GTA 3, and Spider-Man 2, but the core game can be beaten in about 10 hours or so.

I love my 360, I wish I could get more use out of it. If you have an HDTV, it makes it that much sweeter. I highly recommend grabbing a 360. I was skeptical at first, but I love it and wouldn't trade it for a PS3

Not many people did. I know that I played the ORIGINAL GTA & GTA 2 for Ps1 and they were the shit! Then GTA3 came out and I lost my ****ing mind. I was used to this top-down shoddy looking rendition of beating people up, running them over, spitting on them and blowing their cars up with grenades. I beat Vice City and THEN went nuts just doing dumb shit. San Andreas is the best tho. Nothing better than drive-by's on BIKES! HAHAHA....the next one is in Vegas I think. Thats going to be too fun....

I still play video games, I love shooters/GTA type gams/most sports games, although Madden is the only sports game that i must get every year. I've beaten GTA3/Vice City/San Andreas/GTA:LCS, and i plan on beating GTA 4 when it comes out and i get a next gen system.

How do you have it hooked up to your HDTV?
Are you considering buying the HD-DVD player? If so, will you be able to take avantage of the newest Dolby and DTS codecs?
