Favorite Gangster.

I was just thinking about this one. Now, keep in mind favorite gangster and favorite gangster movie are two different things.

Okay here's the list I came up with. Please feel free to add if I left someone out.

Robert DeNiro
Al Pacino
Marlon Brando
Joe Pesci
James Gandolfini aka Tony Soprano

I'm gonna have to say Pesci. I loved him in "Casino" (and also in "My Cousin Vinny" and "Eight Heads in a Duffel Bag" :)).

My favorite DeNiro flick is Heat. He's been in more violent flicks, but I think he was pretty convincing in this one.

Yeah Heat is a way underrated moive. Two great actors giving two great performances and then a seriosuly good supporting cast. Love Heat. DeNiro has the unique ability for you to like his charters even when they are the worst humans on earth. Gandolfini does it too but I think that is more a product of the writing and shaping of character rather than the performance.

Good point on Gandolfini. DeNiro brings his character to life everytime, anywhere.

I like the scene where he and Pacino are in the coffee shop talking like gentlemen and discussing who's going to take who down first!

Fat Tony (Simpsons)

Heat is a great movie.

Can't go wrong with DeNiro... but Jack was pretty badass in The Departed.

One of the best movie scenes ever.

Easily my fav movie of the year. I wonder why Jack hasn't played more badass characters like that. He was on point in Departed.

I didn't see Casino but I LOVE the other 2 movies you mentioned.

Pesci for me too.

Al Pachino, no question.

Re: Favorite Gangster.

Casino is pretty good, definitely worth seeing.

Pacino has his ups and downs. He was way over the top in Dick Tracy...

Jack was awesome in The Departed.

And Fat Tony will always have a place in my heart.

Harvey Keitel in "Reservoir Dogs" was pretty good. Also Sam Jackson in "Pulp Fiction" ... he was a BMF.

Casino is a darn good movie if only a bit long. DeNiro and Pesci do their usual good stuff but Sharon Stone puts on her best performance as an actress in my opinion. The girl makes you believe she is really nuts when she loses it.

Now there's a money quote.

Yep, another good one. Did you catch that there was a character named Marcellus in Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.

You can say all you want about Robert DeNiro,Al Pacino,Marlon Brando,Joe Pesci,Jack Nicolson,
For my money if you want a really sinister badass gangster you should go with Scott Baio as Bugsy Malone.

Joe Piscopo as Danny Vermin in Johnny Dangerously.

(ok, I had some IMDB help for that quote. It happens.)

I'm usually pretty good with movie quotes, but I haven't seen that one in like 8 years, so I needed some help.

BTW, my REAL favorie gangster is Momma Fratelli from The Goonies.

Good point, Stack. But here's my thing...I think there's a difference between a thug and a gangster. O-Dog is more of a thug to me...badass nonetheless!

In that class I would have to go Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven.
