Russell to the skins?
FFLiveWire: Fantasy Football News, Community, Stats and much more...
We damn sure didnt see this coming. Will this be another one of those screw ups? Wow that Snyder is slick. Im not sure about this tho. I dont know what to think. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
i dont believe it, but even if it were true its gibbs' decision not snyders. sounds like a load of crap to me
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
Wow. That caught me a bit off guard.
Any info on Russell? He better than what we saw of JC? |
Re: Russell to the skins?
IF this takes place...I will give up hope that we will ever be good while Dan Snyder is alive. Why is he even scheduled to work out. This really pisses me off.
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
I dont know first hand anything about Russell, but could he be better then Campbell? Ive seen him throw and the kid got a rocket. Or do you think we are trying to find the another V. Young?
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
If we do this, I'm done. I'll start spending my time concentrating on my actual life and getting a job.
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
If this happens...we will win 4 games next year...quote me on that
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
guys relax, its bs. why would we develop a qb we invested so much in to just trade him away and start all over with a raw qb? makes no sense so dont worry about it
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
My question is...why is he even coming to work out???
|
My question is...why is he even coming to work out???
probably just a standard procedure |
Re: Russell to the skins?
guys, look at this who are the backups to JC.. MB and TC probably wont be here after 2007 season.. so have JR here as JCs backup that would be ok with me.. not sure what to think of it but look at our future at qb after this yr.
Then again might just be a smoke screen. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
It makes 100% no sense.
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
so what do you think the other teams out there are thinking? making them think now im sure
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
Was that article from the onion?
Seriously, every year some moron blogger writes about some trade scenario involving the Skins that makes no sense. Remember when we were supposed to trade up and take Robbert Gallery? What about trading Lavar and two first round picks for Randy Moss? Or how about when we let Smoot go but somehow had a 15 million dollar sb deal in place with Samare Rolle? This is the dumbest one yet. Gibbs gave up a ton and basically bet his legacy on Campbell. Sink or swim, it will be with Campbell on the poop deck making the calls(I kill myself btw). |
Re: Russell to the skins?
I think that this is total smoke screen. If there is a team that is interested in Russell that is picking behind us they may sell the farm to us, like the giants did with the chargers to get Eli, to move up to get him. I think that is all it is a ploy to get teams to trade with us on draft day...
|

Four games wouldn't be a lock and I bet we be lucky to win two! |

Smoke screen is right, we have to be smoking crack to even consider taking russell, and anyone who would believe that we had an interest in obtaining him would have to be smoking the same, so in closing if we really think we are going to fool sombody with this feeble attempt to show genuine interest in Russell we are dumber than I could have possibly believed, and if we are serious about taking Russell than it is officially over for us until someone realizes that there is a giant cockroach waltzing around in Gibbs's body. |

I don't believe he will fall that far but you never know. As for moving up to get him that dosen't sound right at all so far out there that the next thing you know someone is going to say L.Briggs is going to be a REDSKIN!
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
i feel like i need to say something..... i just dont know what to say about this, its retarded....
then again why not have him work out. im not totally banking on JC either. we sure do have a few more needs than this dude though. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
My question is...why is he even coming to work out???
probably in case he falls to #6. then we have alittle leverage in a trade |
Re: Russell to the skins?
Thats Fantasy football not real football, just a rumor. I don't believe that for a second!
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
jamarcus is worth too much right now. it would just as bad a choice economically as it would be tactically.
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
This is the kind of BS that really &%$#@# me off !!!
If there's even a hint that this could be true, then Cerrato should be canned on the spot, Snyder should be forced to sell the team (for the good of the fans, who should storm Redskins Park), and Coach Joe should be gone for even allowing it to happen!! JC cost us our 1st Rounders in '05 and '06, and had to ride the pine behind Brunell for a year and a half before he could even get on the field, and when he did ... the offense was energized by his skills, poise (remember the TD to Cooley in the Carolina game after the receiver in his helmet went dead) and ability to "make things happen with his legs" !! This would be horrible, just collossally moronic !!! My father would roll over in his grave ... multiple times !!! Where's Lombardi when you need him ??!! |

Is there any confirmed info that he is coming to Redskins park to work out? I know we went to his pro day, but that's because other LSU players were working out too. I think this guy is just an idiot. When JLC writes about this I'll pay attention. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
It is total BS. EVERYONE RELAX!!
|

L.Briggs is going to be a REDSKIN! |
Re: Russell to the skins?
IMO this is another example (if it happens) of how the redskins seems to value everyone else's players above thier own.
|
L.Briggs is going to be a REDSKIN!
hahaha...nice..... No really though. This is a buncha crap. A buddy of mine, who is a Skins fan (or at least claims to be) thinks in his opinion that we should take Russell. Then again, he, unlike I, isnt sold on JC WHATSOEVER. He makes a few valid points here and there but, wtf...no. No friggin' way in hell. If it happens, I'll shit a gold brick and become a monk in Tibet. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
It doesn't hurt the team in any way bringing him in. It does hurt us if next week Jason buys some super awesome motorcycle, tries to do a wheelie and slams his head in a car. You can never be sure what's going to happen, might as well over-prepare for the worst case scenario.
Plus, showing other teams that we have interest in more than 3 players gives us a little more negotiating power when it comes to trading down. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
The only way I could support us drafting Russell is IF he somehow drops all the way down to us at the #6. The guy looks like he's going to be a beast, but we've already given up so much to get Campbell that I would be shocked if we dumped him after half a season of actually playing for another new kid.
Really though, I don't put much stock into this right now. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
Yes... this must be true... just like it must be true that Snyder must want Randy Moss because Synder was seen watching Moss catch passes at a football game. These guys write this stuff to get people to read. They are the National Enquirer of sports writing. Don't let them fool you.
We have to bring in JaMarcus. If he falls to #6 then that means some wierd stuff has happened ahead of us and we need to know about him. It can happen. Remember Aaron Rodgers? |
Re: Russell to the skins?
This will never happen. It's a load of bs
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
Any chance the Skins were just down at LSU to check out Landry (sp?), but they just made it seem like they were there for Russell to hide their interests?
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
According to Shefter, the visit was at his Pro Day but they are trying to schedule a personal interview with him.
Only three scenarios make any sense to me about this. First, remember Auburn two years ago. Everyone knew that the Skins were chasing Rogers (they publicly discussed his attributes) and at his Pro Day they snuck in a conversation with JC. Second, due to Snyder's wonderful choices in recent years, it would make perfect sense for him to grab a big name instead of a great player at a position of need (Anderson). And honestly, it must be killing Snyder that he hasn't gotten any splash since the SB. So, he trades up, drafts him, then trades him to the Chiefs who the Raiders didn't want to get Russell bc they'd have to play him twice a year (I know it's unreasonable to think that this much thought has gone into it but I'm hopeful). Or third, This is complete nonsense. THere is absolutely no interest but it gets your name in the news. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
we have nothing to trade, no thanks.
this would be a truly stupid move, and i don't think it has any basis in reality. |

That is the only reason any interest in Russell makes sense. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
RETARDED THREAD.
To lend any semblance of credence to this ridiculous rumor is asinine. Let's not contribute to the circulation of ridiculous rumors and kill this thread right now. THERE IS NO WAY the Redskins are going to draft Russell. Cerrato was on hand at his workout to make other teams wonder what we're doing. Total smokescreen, these are not the droids you're looking for, move along. |

Wait, but they were the droids that they were looking for. Does this mean that you're a member of the DRC (Draft Russell Cabal)? |

No, definitely reading too much into it. I should have just said, move along. |

I mean you know so much about what the team needs. If you remember correctly our offense wasnt that explosive last year why not explore the possibility of getting a franchise qb. I mean JC has been far less then great. |
