Re: another CB possibility?
He's not good at coverage or being physical.
But he can catch the ball when thrown to him! |
Re: another CB possibility?
O'Neal has been an "every down" defensive player for several years now. That means the Skins ought to be able to get him for a seventh round pick in 2017 and with a new contract at the veteran's minimum. ;)
Right? |

Re: another CB possibility?
Well, he's 30 but would probably come fairly cheap (a lot cheaper than Bly no doubt). He has 11 INTs and 16 passes defensed over the past two seasons and has played in 12+ games every season of his 7 year career, so he's pretty durable as well. Depending on the price it could be pretty good signing. He hasn't gotten arrested enough, that's why he's on the block.

Re: another CB possibility?
Wasn't O'Neal traded by the Broncos when they had to make room for Champ? Not reallly anything to that, just saying
Anyhow, I can't say I'd be for this deal necessarily. What's the latest with David Macklin? |

He has only missed two games in his entire career and he's only 28. He would fit in nicely, probably as a nickel guy. I think we need to prepare for the fact that Springs will miss some time (he always does) and sign one more guy. Macklin could compete for the 3rd or 4th spot IMO... |

yeah i am not really feeling macklin or o'neal at all |
Re: another CB possibility?
Hasn't O'Neal had "issues" off the field in the past? Or was it that he was a malcontent? Just sayin'

Wellllllllll, he was a Bengal after all... |
Re: another CB possibility?
he's not a shut down, but he could come in compete for the starting job, move Springs to and no matter what happens we have at least 3 more than servicable DB's that can hold there on against any WR..... plus if needed (injuries) springs could go back to DB and Fox or Preliou can cover Strong Saftey

I think if springs comes back 100% he should no doubt start at corner. |
Re: another CB possibility?
we need springs at corner a lot worse than we need him at safety.

agreed. However, I do think if we're going to put all of our eggs into the, well I hope springs stays healthy basket, our defense will suffer. My guess is Springs gets hurt in pre-season, or while going to the grocery store, or a freak gardening accident. We're not prepared to have someone in the secondary go down. |
Re: another CB possibility?
I don't know -- the whole idea of bringing in last minute defensive backs as a "just to be sure" measure smacks of Kenny Wright, Mike Rumph type signings.
I have to admit though, the idea that O'Neal can catch an errant ball thrown in his direction does sound attractive. I also agree that pinning all our hopes on Shawn Springs staying healthy, and leaving only Smoot and Rogers if he goes down gives me the willies. |
Re: another CB possibility?
If Deltha O is traded there's a reason why, he's nothing special by any means.
Let's hope SS has a comeback year, he's due. |
Re: another CB possibility?
if we take anyone from the Bengals roster, does their parole officer come along?
|
Re: another CB possibility?
I belive so, for free
|
Re: another CB possibility?
That's great, I'm gonna' see Joe2 on "Dog, the Bounty hunter"
|
Re: another CB possibility?
I don't think this will happen either. I doubt this guy is even on thier radar.

Re: another CB possibility?
He was a pro bowler two years ago. What happened?

He got old. He hit that magical 30-year mark this January. Some players can be stellar past that age. Most do not. |
