Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
And the plot thickens....
ESPN.com - NFL - More to it? Redskins set up meeting with Russell I'm going to have a heart attack |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Pastabelli seems to believe that its in an attempt to stir up the pot. I don't think its that serious
|
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
It's not a huge deal, I'm sure.
|
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I don't know why they'd even meet with him. I know it's customary to interview a lot of people who you are highly unlikely to draft, but I see no reason whatsoever to even look at him or waste our time talking to him.

Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
:food-smil
Well here's to another 300+ post thread about how stupid the Redskins are. How they don't care about their own talent. How they will kill the cap. How they never address their needs and so on and so forth. The chess match that they are playing this offseason is a F'n Masterpiece !!!!! |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
isn't this the way the draft game is supposed to be played? act like you want everyone
|
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I'm sure most teams meet with the top prospects... why is this news?
|
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Here's the answer right here, again I don't see why this is news.
The meeting with Russell might be little more than due diligence on the part of the Redskins, in the event he somehow falls to their spot. It may be a ruse meant to stir other teams to perhaps deal with Washington, which seems to want to move out of the No. 6 slot. |

Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
These rumors and all this speculation is oh so annoying, but it's better than nothing.

yeeeeep,, what else are we gonna talk about.......... |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I'd rather have nothing at this point.
So far we've been told the Skins are trading up, trading down, trading for Bly, trading for Vilma, and trading for Briggs. Ugh. Enough with all the speculation already. I wish the draft was this weekend. |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Vilma? We're trading for Vilma? Why would we want a headcase from another team coming in here, messing up the locker room chemistry, having sex with our cheerleaders, and giving our kids cigarettes. The FO needs to get their heads out of their collective asses and start building from within. We needs to stop with the, draft picks, Redskins1, Joe Bugel.... Damnit, I lost my train of thought.

Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
This is a just in case move. We aren't going to draft him. Everyone is very happy with Jason at this point. I think if they were to add another QB it would be a vetran, not another young guy.
|
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I wonder if they are just trying to make other teams as nuts as they are making us. I heard JA Adande say yesterday on ESPN that he went golfing with some "NFL front office types," and apparently the Raiders are leaning towards Calvin Johnson at this point. I suppose if that was true there would be a better chance of Russell falling to the 6th spot...
God I'm sick of all this. I can't believe the draft is still A MONTH AWAY!! ARGHHH. Hey, at least when the day does come it looks to be pretty eventful. |

If a front office type is running their mouth about a draft choice then its probably the last person they would draft or the front office type guy may be looking for a neww job. No team is going to show their hand and that is usually true for the 1st pick of the draft so they can keep options open. We have 30 more days of rumors. |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Anyone else wish there was an information vacuum at Redskins Park so everytime Joe Gibbs drops a twosie it doesn't end up on ESPN?
That being said, if this is anything else but a ploy for trade fodder I am going to be sick. I can't take another month of this. |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I still think we're trading up for the salad, sirloin, and creme brulee. In fact, my "sources" tell me its a done deal. The only holdup is whether they're going to go with House or Ranch dressing.

Don't rule out blue cheese... I heard they could be setting up a meeting with BC. |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
See here we go again !
DAMNIT !!!! DAMNIT !!!! EVERY YEAR !!!! WE HAVE A PERFECTLY GOOD BOTTLE OF ITALIAN ALREADY !!!!!! I still think they should wait, and possibly trade down to talk to the Outback people about that exclusive Mustard Vinagrette they make because it's best for the whole meal. And when the hell did they start talking about the creme brulee ? I swear this team makes me sick !!!!! |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Waste of time!

Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I really like the way the Skins are playing this draft, assuming they make the smart choice on draft day (DLine or Calvin Johnson, should he fall...he won't) because I don't even know exactly what they're thinking any more. I would like to believe the rumors about moving up to get guys are false and that their interest in Russel is all just a smoke screen, but I'm gonna reserve my judgement till after the draft because I still don't quite trust this FO. We'll have to see on draft day, but I think they'll make the smart choice and, hopefully, go with Okoye at something like 8 or 10 and pick up another first day pick in the process. *crossing my fingers*

Never hurts to keep your fingers crossed....... Damn sure wouldn't hold my breath! |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
It is all bluff and nothing that has been said should even be paid attention to. Just about anything you hear is contradicted the next day, or another player is in the team's crosshairs in the following days little tidbit on the sports web pages. I just hope that Gibbs and the FO have a solid plan on not only who to take at #6, but in the later rounds as well. I would go all defensive in the draft, save maybe one offensive guard.
|
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I said it in the first thread we had about Russell talking to the Skins that it's smart to talk to the guy now cause you never know what the situation will be in 4-5 years when his rookie deal is up. get a feel for him, that's all.
also, we have to make teams believe we'll actually draft this guy in case he falls, that way they'll ante up some picks for us. |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
They haven't made very many good draft decisions other than the Ricky Williams deal so anything is possible when it comes to the Redskins on draft day. We spend months predicting what we think they should do and everything seems good till draft day and they end up doing crazy things like last year. I used to really look forward to the draft but not anymore. They never have any picks and they usually trade next years #2 for this years #3 or something like that. It is very depressing to be a Redskins fan on draft day. If this Lance Briggs deal goes through it will be a major mistake that will haunt them for years. Please Gibbs/Snyder/Cerroto if you must trade the #6 pick, trade it for more picks so we have some building blocks for the future!!!

Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I can't recall a time in Redskin deraft history when there has been so much speculation, enough already. I agree with anyone who wishes the draft was tomorrow.

Yeah, I hear you. How much night-time cough syrup would I have to drink so I could sleep until April 28th? |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Someone said earlier on that the Skins were playing this draft perfectly because he didn't have any idea what they were thinking or what they were going to do. And that's a good thing to put out there at this time of year ... SO LONG AS ...
The Front Office has a really good idea of what it is going to do on draft day and what they are going to do is a beneficial thing for them to do. Folks, all of the chatter and all of the posturing happening between 1 March and Draft Day means next to nothing. What matters is whom teams sign and for how much and whom they draft. The rest of it is nothing more than an afternoon soap opera. |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Let's just get this out of the way, and keep in mind this is most likely simply due diligence.
The Redskins have also reportedly scheduled meetings with Joe Thomas, Brady Quinn, Adrian Peterson, Gaines Adams and Ted Ginn Jr. According to NFL.com they're all visits except TG. That one is a bit interesting since they're supposedly gonig with Jason Campbell to work Ginn out. NFL.com - Individual Workouts |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Dude, we'd have to trade like half the team to draft all 7 of those guys. I think it's going to happen, but we still need a DT!!!
|
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Screw it, I think I have as much credibility as half these sportswriters, so I'm breaking a story right here, right now!!!!
The Redskins will sign Dwight Freeney and both of the DT's from JAX tomorrow morning for veteran minimums. Then they'll trade Ethan Albright to the Raiders for the #1 draft pick where they'll pick Jeff Sarmarjiazaiijia, who won't sign. We need a better FO. |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
What's wrong with them interviewing players? They have the right to, they should.
|
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
Interviewing players who you don't intend to draft is like boning a bunch of random chicks that you have no desire to marry. Its wrong, WRONG!!!
One interview per team, and you better draft the mother****er, or else! |

Where's the line anymore? Well, I got news for ya, it's not even on the radar screen! The days of decency and virtue are gone, BAM, freakin' evaporated like a dingy stinkin' mudpuddle. One day you see your reflection in it and the next day it's a, it's a damn oil spot on your cracked driveway, staring back at you, mocking you, knowing the perverted truths that rot in the pit of your soul. (I thought you might appreciate that) |
Re: Skins' Schedule Meeting with Russell
I hate to admit it, but I don't get it. Plus, I need to go to bed now before I fall asleep on the couch and drop my laptop.
Again, I apologize for not picking up the reference. I'm so embarassed. :( |
