Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
Cool stuff. I haven't been to a Dave concert in years. Does anyone know if his newer stuff is any good? I loved his first two albums and the other stuff I've heard I didn't care for.

College stereotypes across American rejoice!
JK, seriously I agree with SGG. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
I've seen Dave a couple of times and realized one thing:
If your not crazy insane about DMB, then don't see him more than once. The first show I went to was DMB with Robert Randolph and the family, and man was it awesome. I had a blast, and never realized how awesome they were live. I went back again the next year and was bored. He played all of these songs I have never heard of, and played like 15 minute jam sessions. It was just obnoxious. I wanted to go home early. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
I really liked their last two, Busted Stuff and Stand Up, but of course it's all better live.

If I go to a DMB concert, I want to hear Satellite, Crash, Song #41 (or whatever # it is), etc. |

I'm also going to see Dave and Tim at UMass next month. |

They usually do play a wide selection of stuff including their hits, but they do rotate some of them in and out depending on the tour. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
I saw them a little less than a year ago. It was one of the best shows I've seen. They played many of their most popular songs, as well as some new ones.
I would definitely recommend anyone to see them. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
I'm still pissed that 311 isn't touring this year.
"we need a break"... pffff. Yeah, living the tough life. Making millions of money by doing what you like. Must really suck. I'm just playing... they've been touring non stop for like 15 years. They deserve the break, but a 311 concert is usually my high point of the summer. Plus hopefully they have time to put out an album with more than 11 tracks. |

Red Rocks is a great one. |

Douchebags and morons who care nothing about lyrics rejoice! I wish this man would have sold his bar, followed his musical calling, and fallen flat on his face only to be getting pea soup in a homeless shelter right now.
Maybe that's a bit over the top, but I can't find the appeal to Dave Matthews. |

RR is good but we got sidetracked for a second and were talking about 311. |

I actually spoke to P-nut about this. I frequent the 311 board every so often and told p-nut (you can tell it's him because the band members and staff names are in all yellow) that instead of doing another 311-day dvd... they should record one of their tours and compile it all together. He said he had flirted with the idea and it may or may not happen. He ended it by saying "Maybe when we release our next album it will be a double disc, shoot maybe even a triple disc, we're 311 we can do anything" I was surprised as hell that I got a response. It's pretty cool how they actually take time to talk to there fans. Neat stuff. |

Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
I didn't really like Stand Up as an album all that much, but I've seen DMB play three shows since it came out and I've really enjoyed most of the songs from it, especially Louisiana Bayou and Stand Up. I think it helped that Robert Randolph was there for all three of those shows, he's incredible with them, but they were good nonetheless.
Last year was fantastic for me. I saw their last two shows of the summer, which happened to be in their hometown at UVA. My buddy and I couldn't get a hotel room in time so we got a camp site instead. There were a ton of other people at the grounds that were there for the shows, so there were plenty of "interesting" people to hangout with. It was a damn good weekend. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
I might try and hit the Nissan show in Manassas, well Bristow I guess. I've never seen DMB but have been a long time fan. Im a pretty big reggae fan and I think its great that Toots and the Maytals are playing with him. Toots is the originator of the song 5446 whats my number that Sublime covered on 40 oz to freedom.
I just hope I can get my permission slip signed. |

Anyways, Toots must be 60 or something, but I bet he can still sing. I'd love to see them. If you haven't already, check out The Skatalites. Their sound is kinda similar, but less vocals. |

It's so hip. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
Well, that ain't too shabby.
(I feel so dirty :( ) |
Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
I'm guess I'm the opposite DMB fan. I'd much rather hear the more obscure stuff and the jam sessions than the mainstream stuff. I got out of touch several years ago (last album I got was Dave and Tim's acoustic double) because you began to hear the same songs over and over and over again. I've see them live several times (3 shows Nissan, 2 at RFK), and the best show was the last show I saw at Nissan, because they did such a great mix of their mainstream with their more obscure. While it's nice to hear 15,000 people sing along, it's also nice to listen to some music when the fans don't know the words, and you can really hear the band play.

Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
I to dislike the DMB, I don't understand why everyone calls him Dave like they know him? It gets on my nerves, granted he's prob the lifeblood of the band (I don't know much of their background) but its really obnoxious when people are all like I'm going to see Dave this weekend!

I don't think it's meant as an exclusion of the other members, it's just short for Dave Matthews Band. |

Actually, YOU just put it in writing. I never said ALL of his fans were like that. :food-smil I predict a 19.5 month ban coming your way. |

I haven't been listening to DMB at all lately but I still really like the band and I know it'll be fun. Looks like I'll just have to find out how the game went on Sunday. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band 2007 summer tour dates
Saw them last night at SPAC and Trey Anastasio showed up for Lie in Our Graves, the crowd went wild when Trey came out... great show. Toots were an awesome opener too.

Damn Matty, that seems better than the show I just saw at Nissan IMO.
