It does stink for him but thank goodness for our Skins that this news got out - I would pass on Branch now - there are too many options with players who have a clean bill of health out there.

all the teams have known about this. i am guessing that is why he hasn't seemed to be an object of our affection. i guess there is debate about whether he actually has stress fractures but considering the other issues that have been raised this guy is going to end up being a steal for someone in the later half of the 1st round.

I thought him slipping out of the top ten was like month old news.

One way to look at this is that it completely explains the combine workout. The other, obviously, is that he's damaged goods.

Depends on which "MOCK" draft you look at, most all still have him going top 10, up until this point. I think the worst I've seen on any mock is #13

For what it is worth, PFT's, which he supposedly bases on what he is being told by league insiders and not on guessing or personal observation, has him slipping to 32.

I thought Branch had bust written all over him prior to reading this. Now I'd avoid him like the plague. No other projected 1st rounder this year has seen their stock fall as much as Branch. This draft is so top heavy with D-line talent there is just no reason to take a risk on him. Kiper actually now has him listed as the #3 DT, with Okoye and Justin Harrell ahead of him.

Second round pick on him would be a no brainer. This is a guy who was looking at potentially top 5 not that long ago. Now please excuse me, I'm going to the store to buy some gin and vermouth.

Its funny how now folks say PFT is all of a sudden a reliable source. They have no article backing this claim on their site.... this could be a complete lie and we would pass on someone who could dominate the line of scrimage... don't believe everything you hear

I don't see Branch as a dominant force. I see him as a relatively successful ten year starter at DT. I think he could have been a dominant force with more college seasoning, but it is what it is.

In this case they're actually referring to what Sporting News' Dan Pompei said on ESPN's Cold Pizza the other day about Branch having stress fractures

I think it is something that can be reoccurring, if I am not mistaken. That is the big concern with it.

6'8''/260 TE Joey Haynos (UMD) ran a 4.7 at the junior combine. Not to shabby. He'll return to UMD for his senior year, and hopefully their QB woes won't bring down his draft status next year.

I definitely think he should still be high on our radar. Maybe not at 6, but he's worth considering later in ther first

If we trade down into the bottom half of the round, all the elite DL will be gone. As long as there are no elite players at another defensive position still hanging around, Branch could very well be the best fit between 20-25.

I don't know who is better, Branch or Harrell, but I'd love to take a chance on either if we could get down there and accumulate picks.

But I still don't think its worth passing on Okoye.
