What are you drinking?

What better topic is there to discuss?

Whats your favorite beer?
Domestic?
Imported?
Cheap?

Domestic: Yuengling, but not Yuengling light. That shits nasty.
Import: Guinness, mmmmmm... soo good.
Cheap: The one. The only. Natural light.

I've been checking out this local place called "Dog Fish head". It's got some delicious happy hour specials. I recommend it highly. Also "Brewers Ally" in Frederick has some damn good specials as well.

I've given up on weekend bars because I don't have the kind of money to party out at the bars in mo. county.

domestic: same adams hefeweizen
imported: smithwicks (from the makers of guiness)
cheap: gotta go natty

Re: What are you drinking?

Domestic: Just about any Sam Adams beer
Imported: Stella Artois
Cheap: Back in my senior year of college, my roommate's dad bought him some "make your own beer at home" kit for his birthday. It didn't get much cheaper than that. Let me tell you Natty Light tasted like a drink descended straight from the heavens compared to the swill we chugged down from that kit

Scotch whiskey and dry martinis.

Re: What are you drinking?

I really love Sam Adam's winter lager. That and the summer ale I can sip on. I just can't drink S.A. when I go out, I'd rather have it almost like dessert after a meal.

Also the Yuengling black and tan bottles are probably the best bang for your buck.

Re: What are you drinking?

I heart beer.

Domestic: Victory Brewing Company, Hop Devil Ale
Import: Moosehead
Cheap: Beast Light

I love microbrews. Everything from Victory Brewing Company (Downingtown Pennsylvania) is flat out amazing. Dog Fish Head, Flying Fish, and Harpoon are also great.

As for Macros, I love me some Sam Adams. Sam Oktoberfest is another fave of mine come the fall.

mmmmmmmm beer.
domestic- mic light
import- NewCastle brown ale, its simply awesome.
import-2- amstel light
cheap- miller lite
cheap(back in the day) the noble Goelble. man i remember buying that stuff for like $10 a case. drinking a 6 pak of that stuff was equal to 2 reg. beers. now that i think about it that was probaly the closest thing to non-alcoholic beer before there ever was such a thing.
oh well we had fun with it!

Re: What are you drinking?

Beer and I are great friends. I'll try any kind and I love microbrews. My standard beers are as follows:

Domestic = Sierra Nevada, pretty much any Sam Adams

Import = Harp, Bass, Whitbred

Cheap = Miller Lite, Pabst Blue Ribbon (love the PBR)

Liquor = Grey Goose, Southern Comfort

I'm drinking a Harp right now and it's friggin good... mmmmm

BigSKINBauer 04-22-2007 06:05 AM

Re: What are you drinking?

Domestic- Yuengling
Import- I'm young and only had a few but guinness is the best i've had
Cheap- Natty. Used to like beast much better but i don't know what happened. Natty grew on me more and more. So it goes 1. natty, 2. beast, 3. Keystone
Liquor- I'll drink anything to f... me up. When i get my liquor, i get a handle of rickaloff just to pregame with. It also tastes better if filtered a few times. Then i also get a handle of UV blue and smirnoff raspberry for the ladies. I swear, stupid bitches drink UV blue down and at $16 a handle I don't mind. The REALLY dumb ones believe you when you say it is expensive too.

Re: What are you drinking?

Since i'm a lowely college student who throws parties, I usually end up packing the fridge with PBR, which actually isn't that bad of a beer. But:

Domestic: Yeungling
Imported: Bass, Hogarden if your up for a white beer, Heineken
Liqour: Jamesons, Crown Royal, and i'll give a shout out to aristocrat because we've all been there down that

And why don't we start a new category?

Favorite 40oz: Colt. 45!

I just got back from a bachelor party in Atlantic City and just thinking about drinking again makes me feel pretty sick.

I just yakked on my keyboard.
fav 40- old english high test
The only time I have ever started a fight in my life was on 40's of old english high grav.

I was at this chicks house and just started pounding them, I think we bought like a case of em or something. Later on, I ended up passing out in the bathroom.

They had an old grandmother that lived there and so someone had to move me so grandma didn't find drunkie all sloppy in the bathroom.

My cousin was elected to come move me, and tried picking me up. For whatever reason (I was totally blacked out, I don't remember anything) I wanted to stay in the bathroom so bad that I punched him in the face. He was drunk too so we scuffled and finally he just gave up on moving me. My friends Mom just came up and asked me nicely and I got right up and went into a different room.

When I woke up I saw my cousins black eye and started laughing and asking what he fell on to mess his face up. I felt terrible when I found out that I slugged him, but there was no beef. I just got made fun of and called a meat head for about a year.

Till this day, I have never touched malt liquor.

I do miss being able to get drunk off of pocket change though.

Guinness, Black and Tans, Heineken Light, Sam Adams Light, Corona Light w/lime.

Not to sound stuck up but in my old age I stay away from the cheap stuff. The "cheapest" I'll go for is maybe Miller Lite if in a pinch. I figure I've had a lifetime of cheap crap like the Beast, Old Mil, Keystones, Busch, etc. I can't stomach it anymore.

Re: What are you drinking?

A while back I tried a six pack of Brooklyn Brewery's Chocolate Stout and I have to say it was very, very good. I highly recommend it. Very strong and full bodied beer, high alcohol content too, something like 10%. Check it out if you're a big beer fan! It has a very intense flavor that just hits you sip after sip. 2-3 of these babies and you'll be feeling great.

Re: What are you drinking?

Domestic- Yeungling is the best. Southpaw is ok too. Its made by the the people who bottle Icehouse.

Imported- CORONA!!!!!!

Cheap- uhhh....i guess i'll go Southpaw again. Its CHEAPY CHEAPY but very good. Either that or Natty baby!

40 0z.-come on now. What kinda question is that? Maybe a mix of Colt 45 and OE is best. Nah, just Colt.

Liquor- Blue Motorcycles, all day, everyday. Either that or triple shots of Goldschlager with Corona's behind em.

HAIL!!!!!

Dogfish Head is awesome. I used to live down the street, so my wife and I would head up there for Happy Hour all the time. They have great food as well. They are going to open another Alehouse (their brewery is in Milton, DE, and the original restaurant is in Rehoboth) in Falls Church sometime this summer. Their beers are awesome.

Brewers Alley is great as well. Awesome beers, and $12.95 lobster dinners on Thursdays. Get a giraffe. 6 beers for the price of 5, and you can get your Iranian friend to drink out of it. You can find Brewers Alley beers at Isabella's and G. Hunter's in Frederick as well.

Robh - yeah, unless you want Upper MoCo's high school reunion, avoid Bailey's and The Greene Turtle in G'town. Check out Pelican Pete's. Decent beer prices and great food.

Domestic: AMD got me "hooked" on Red Hook ESB. Good stuff. Anything by Sam Adams. Anchor Steam is another quality beer. And I love microbrews on tap (Dogfish Head, Brewer's Alley, Rock Bottom).

Imported: Guinness, Smithwick's, Paulaner Hefe-weizen, Amstel Light, Young's Double Chocolate Stout, Beck's, Boddington's, Sapporo, Singha.

Cheap: Pabst Blue Ribbon or Bud Select.

Re: What are you drinking?

What am I drinking?! NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL RIGHT NOW. :(

Fiancee and I have said no drinking until May 11th (Our bachelor and bachelorette parties).

The last drinks I had, I made sure were my favorites:

Domestic: Yuengling.
Imported: Corona. Sure, it's boring, but nothing tastes better on a hot, summer afternoon than a Corona with lime. On that same note, Dos Equis lager is pretty damn good if I'm grilling out.
Cheap: PBR or Keystone Light.
Liquor: Jack Daniel's with two ice cubes.

Re: What are you drinking?

Bohnzie, I had some Redhook Copperhook at the Wizards game last week and that was some of the best beer I've ever had.
Also, I had Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA for the first time on Friday. It pretty much knocked me on my ass, but it was damn good.

Domestic: Redhook, Sam Adams (especially Octoberfest), and Yuengling. I just Pete's Wicked Ale for the first time on Friday. I might have to start drinking that more often.

Import: I don't drink all that many imports, just by chance. I do like Amstel Light, Dos Equis, Guinness, and Molsen Golden.

Cheap: Bud Light mixed with my own tears because I'm drinking Bud Light.

ArtMonkDrillz 04-23-2007 09:36 AM

Re: What are you drinking?

TMC, try a lime wedge in a bottle of Dos Equis. It's fantastic.

Also, for some reason I think beer tastes so much better if it's been chilled in a cooler full of ice rather than a fridge. I don't know what it is, but I'd much rather keep beers on ice than in the fridge.

TheMalcolmConnection 04-23-2007 09:37 AM

Re: What are you drinking?

I have to say AMD, Dogfish Head, for being as strong as it is, is fairly smooth.

When I drink that at the bar, I have a couple 23s, and then I get up and basically fall back down again.

Dude, that's SO how I am. It's almost like a work of art to pull a beer out of a cooler with ice and water running off of it.

And my Dos Equis ONLY comes with limes in it. Pretty much any Mexican beer I drink is naked without a lime.

Yeah I definitely agree.

The colder the better with most beers, there's nothing like pounding down an ice cold beer in the heat of the summer.

Much like beer is always better out the tap.

Re: What are you drinking?

Dogfish's IPAs are awesome. Go to the Alehouse in G'burg and drink everything off their taps. I love going there. Their light beer (Lawnmower Light, because the guys who created it likened it to the type of beer you'd want after cutting the yard) is really good. But their IPAs have an awesome bite to them.

Nothing better than beer off the tap. But a bottle or can chilled in a cooler over ice is a very close 2nd.

Re: What are you drinking?

Anyone near Lexington, there's a place here (which is rare for a small town like this) called Malone's. It has like 40 beers on tap, and almost all of them are microbrews. They change it up every week too with different specials.

BDBohnzie 04-23-2007 10:30 AM

Re: What are you drinking?

RFD in the District has a ton of taps. Bushwaller's in Frederick has 18 taps, mostly imports.

RFD's sister bar, the Brickskeller, has an extensive beer list, to the point where you have to order 2 or 3 different ones because they may not have what you want that night.

Chicory Stout is really good. Their Punkin Ale and Snowblower Ale is really good too. AMD, they have a 120 minute IPA as well, and it's a knockout.

They also have their own flavor-infused vodkas, rums and tequila.

LOL, the beer on a beach thing reminded me of a story that really belongs in the College Stories thread, but I'll tell it here anyway.

Just before graduation we all head down to the Outer Banks for a week. We called it beach week, but a lot of colleges call it your traditional senior week. So we rented a house right on the beach and the whole nine, and we've got kegs on the deck and everything. So at like 4 am finally people are starting to pass out, and my buddy and I are like we should be drinking on the beach right now. So we pick up one of the kegs and carry it down to the beach (it was almost empty so not too heavy). No cups, we're just passing the tap back and forth. So we end up passing out for a couple hours and I wake up at like 7:00 am, and I've got no idea what's going on so I stumble back up to the house and flop down in bed. But I left my buddy down there by accident. He woke up at noon and came back to the house. He was BEET red with sunburn, and a few hours later developed blisters. Basically he drank himself into some serious sun poisoning.

He got all mad at me for not waking him up, but I'd like to know who would count on someone who was up drinking straight from a keg until 5 in the morning?
