WHAT???? When did you fill up last? Like I said, it just went up. I hadn't been paying attention for two weeks, but my wife said it just jumped the last 2 days.

Well, do me a favor...when you're driving around tonight or tomorrow, take a look and see if it went up, or if it's just a regional hike.

That goes for anyone else out and about too. I know most live in the same area, but there are people here that aren't near DC.

It's going to go higher than that very easily.

Just a few hours ago I paid $2.99 for regular in Northern VA.

From what I understand, the oil companies kept making heating oil instead of gas because of the strange winter.

Wow, great link.

So what the shit is this? I literally live 30 minutes from a refinery and I pay $3.10 a gallon...that's BS!

Re: Gas price jump!

Travel season is gearing up, hence the rise in gas prices. Wife put $56 into the truck, when several weeks ago, it was costing $46.

The Wawa up the street from my house was around $2.89 last night. I'd imagine by the end of the week, it'll be up to $2.99, if not higher. Across town, $3.03, $3.05 for regular is the norm now.

ArtMonkDrillz 05-01-2007 08:49 AM

Re: Gas price jump!

I noticed it was $3.02 for regular gas in Rockville this morning. It was about $2.89 a week or two ago.

We might get royally screwed here Montgomery County if the new county executive gets his way. He seems to think that a higher gas tax (something like 12cents a gallon) will help ease traffic congestion.
That's just dumb because it's not really enough to keep people from driving, but it is enough to put a real strain on people.

It pisses me off. I remember back during college, it was around $1.25. THANK YOU WAR! :)

Re: Gas price jump!

Not to get all political on that ass, so anyway, yeah, I'm SO SICK of it being one step forward, five steps back. I think earlier this year it dropped below two dollars for the first time in a while, and now it's up even higher at three.

Then it'll go back down to like $2.35 or so and we'll all be like, "Thank you Baby Jesus!" even though it's higher than it originally was.

Gotta love the 1990 tiny little ford escort. 20 dollars can take me around the world.

Re: Gas price jump!

I still blame this price jump over the last few months on the fact that I was dumb enough to go out and buy a Jeep. I swear the week I bought it the proce of gas jumped about 10 cents and hasn't stopped going up since.

Sorry :(

I think we are all spoiled by our old fuel economic vehicles. I had a 1991 Acura Integra, which I "pimped" for gas mileage rather than power. I remember once getting 50 mpg on the highway.

God, I miss that car.

These prices are all BS, Its the govt thats in place that allows the big oil companies to charge whatever they want, I thought our govt stepped in when a monopoly was in place, guess not when the Pres. and VP have thier hands in the oil companies money too!
Its strange when congress steps up and starts complaining about gas prices, the drop. CONGRESS WAKE UP!

Re: Gas price jump!

Don't even get me started. F*cking gas companies do this EVERY summer to fatten their already fat pockets. It's travel time - Spring/Summer and they jump the prices to make it rich. When fall gets here the prices will come down again... All those f*cking excuses you hear about the war..blah blah is all BS!

Re: Gas price jump!

Try $3.24 over here. it's insane how fast it jumped. Fortunately I don't have a gas guzzler. If your car gets15 miles a gallon or less, well good luck my friend. Perhaps it's time to rethink the whole big cars cultulture here in the states.

Re: Gas price jump!

My commuter car gets 32-35 miles to the gallon, and took $30 to fill it yesterday afternoon. My wife's truck gets 14-18 miles to the gallon, and took $56 to fill it last night. It's why I will be working from home twice a week, so my wife can take my car instead of hers.

I thought that this president wanted to allow more drilling in the US to help with this problem but on every turn the DEMs stopped him. Also if I remember correctly when the Rep. had control the Dems. yelled and screamed. Then they made a show of it by dragging all these Oil CEO's up in front of congress. They seem to be very quiet about gas prices now that they are in control. Could please explain how the Pres. and V Pres. have their hands in the OIl co. money?

Re: Gas price jump!

Oh boy, here we go.

The prices always rise in the spring because environmental regulations require different and more expensive blends for gasoline in the warm weather months.

If you want to get pissed at someone, blame the ecological nutbags who go crazy everytime there's a proposal to build a new refinery or drill offshore (as they are doing now with the plan for drilling off Virginia's eastern shore) or in the Gulf of Mexico, or the Florida Everglades.

Maybe that way, we can start using some of the oil right here in the U.S. rather than having to kiss the feet of the Arabs in the Middle East.

Stacks, they've always been able to charge whatever they want. There are no price controls on the price of oil or gasoline. If they wanted to start charging $10 per gallon they could. It's called a free market economy.

If you started a business, would you like the government to start dictating how much money YOU could earn with your product?

Well, apparrently I am an idiot. Back at the end of 04, I bought an 05 GMC Sierra, but the special edition with the aluminum block that gets 1-2 MPG fewer then the stock v-8, but produces about 25 more horses. It's fully loaded, and I love it, but it has AVERAGED me 14.4 mpg. I've thought about trading it in, but I love having a truck, and to get something that would replace it in my heart would cost like 40-50k.
What's even worse, I live about 1 mile from where I work, so I could walk to work (my wife could too), AND I have a motorcycle that gets a good 45-55 MPG. My wife makes me wear a helmet and it messes up my hair. So I still drive the truck.

Gas prices in California are out of control. It just went over 3.50 a gallon by my house. The scariest thing is it’s not even June yet. Doesn’t gas get more expensive in July and August? :Flush:

What interest in Halliburton I thought that Cheney sold all his interest in the Co. back before he ran in 2000 for that reason. Thats why I ask the question because its repeated as fact but no one can explain.
