Playoffs are a good possibility
 

I know what all you are thinking, I'm crazy and the skins suck. Well both those might be true, but nonetheless we still have a very good shot of going to the playoffs, for the simple reason that our schedule is weak. Teams who we are playing that had a top 10 pick- Arizona, Miami, Minnisota, Detroit, and Tampa Bay. We are also playing Buffalo, who sucked last year and only got worse in the offseason by losing London Fletcher, Takeo Spikes, Nate Clements, and Willis McGahee. We are also playing Green Bay who is so bad, their own legendary Quarterback was thinking of being traded. Chicago is having many off the field problems and might self destruct as a result. The giants are weak, and we play them twice; they have one linebacker, a weak secondary, no quality running back, and no left tackle. Without Garcia this year, the Eagles will not be so great when (not if) McNabb gets injured. By my count that is 9 games against poor teams, and 3 against teams with potential major problems. That leaves 4 games against quality teams that dont have any problems, and two of those games are against Dallas, which we have to beat at least once or the world will end. Also, the NFC is so weak that we dont need that great of a record to get into the playoffs.

off topic- I thought Julius Jones was released, but NFL.com says hes still a cowboy, am I crazy or is there a typo (maybe I m mixing things up and was thinking of Thomas getting traded).

Every year there are teams who come out of nowhere and surprise the league. The Eagles won't be a pushover- they never are. I agree that we should handle the Giants, Bills and probably the Dolphins. But we have to play in Lambeau against the Packers. No easy task, EVER. And I think Arizona and Detroit will both be much better than a year ago, although both of those games are in FedEx.

4 out of our first 6 games are at home (I'd rather have more home games on the back end of the schedule personally), and I can see us going 4-2 to start the year. Those 4 home games are Miami, Detroit, NYG, and Arizona.

Julius Jones is the #1 RB in Dallas. Thomas Jones got traded to the Jets.

I'm an eternal optimist, therefore I'm on board with all those who agree. If we can remain reasonably healthy, I see no reason why we shouldn't be competitive. I'm hoping we're going to play with a chip on our shoulders and prove that last year was a fluke.

The defense has GOT to play with a chip on their shoulders. I think the coaches will get it in their heads that no one respects them, that they have a ton to prove, etc etc. These guys all have big egos, and everyone on that D knows they have the potential to be far better than they were last season. Fletcher will get us buckled down. If our offense plays like every other Al Saunders offense....

Maaaaaannnnnn, I just want that Miami game to be here.

The problem with thinking that we going to the playoffs is we cant win any games in our own damn division. In 2005 5-1 last year 1-5. We are unfortually closer to 1-5 every year instead of our 5-1 record in 2005.

the skins need to start out strong to make the playoffs. no more excuses. i would expect a big time overhaul if this years team falters. enough of the excuses

You would think by now we would have learned something around here, stop predicting the playoffs, We go from a draft where 2/3 of this board is screaming that we can't stop the run, and blew it by not drafting a defensive linemen, to making the playoffs, this site has got to have the most short sighted, optimistic skins fans on the planet.

But I to am optimistic this year, I am optimistic that Brunell will never see the field, football should at least be fun again in DC!

all this talk every year of playoffs, how about some talk of just finishing 500? No schedule in the NFL is a sure thing, or easy win. I dont think Arizona is going to be a push over, they are young and have a ton of weapons. Tampa, correct me if I am wrong, beat us last year. And they now have a pretty good QB in Garcia. Miami had one of the best D's in the NFL, same goes for Buffalo. Giants are weak? where is that coming from? they made the playoffs last year and have the same team (minus Tiki - A BIG MINUS) but I think they will be just as good. Plus Philly twice, and Dallas twice. Minnesota beat us last year too!! I think everyone should just relax with all this playoff talk and wait and see's what happens on the field. There is absolutely no reason to realistically think we are going to the playoffs. At this point, we have to be picked to come in last in our division, AGAIN! I obviously hope this doesn't happen, but every team in our division made the playoffs last year, in a pretty weak NFC conference, where 8-8 got some teams in. We couldn't even win 8 games. (not even 6)
I am choosing to be a little more reserved in my predictions this season, or any season, unitl I see some consistant winning.

look it guys, I'm as big of a skins fan as anyone on this site . I always root for ther redskins. i believe well have a much better year than last , but i think its WWWWAaaayyyy 2 EARLY 2 start talkin about if well be a playoff team. i justr hate to talk all that smack about what the skins will do and then have it blow up in my face. im guilty of that in seasons past( u wouldnt believe that amout of smack i have talked about the redskins for 30+ yrs) and prefer to just be optimistic... anyway well have a much better record this yr....gawd i love this site

I'm not going to talk about PLAYOFFs until I see how these guys are going to play. Each year the team develops its unique identity ... and this year is still TBD.

I am still trying to figure out why we didn't make the Playoffs last year honestly. To be a playoff team one year and just fall off of the map it doesn't make any sense. To be honest I believe that we are a PO team, but I am tired of the excuses, I want results.

IMO I do not care if we do not win another SB in the next 5 years as long as we are consistently good and make the Playoffs. A Superbowl just means that you were great one year, but to keep going to the dance means that you had a great team.

Uh, while I don't see us taking down Philly (I'll reconsider if we take it to them in Week 2), I think its a foregone conclusion that we will be in the 4-5 teams that compete for a wild card in the NFC. It's all about the important head to head games. Can we beat Arizona and Green Bay to hold the tiebreakers? Can we win at least half the games in our division? Can we "protect our house" with at least 6 home wins this year? If we can answer yes to all these questions, there will be playoffs in 2007.
