Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpepper.. do we want him??????

ESPN Bottom Line is reporting that the Dolphins have informed Daunte Culpepper that he is on the block.... any desire for another injury ridden QB?

Not for a trade. If he's flat-out released I MIGHT be interested.

What about a 6th rounder?

No if we are going to invest in Campbell, stay with Campbell

Not even then. I'm leaning towards being like around thirty percent interested. He was definitely a decent QB, but his recent injuries are pretty career threatening and he'll definitely want start money. And if I have to see that roll even on the Skins, I'd have to stab my eyes.

Yea I think this would be a bad idea. Campbell is our guy. We need to stick with him.

Re: Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpeper.. do we want him??????

Culpepper reminds a bit of Brunell. A guy who had been a stud in the league who had fallen on injurious times. How did Brunell really work out for us? I see not even one iota of a reason we'd need Culpepper.

Somewhere in Internetville, Earthquake2689 is wondering why he didn't think of this thread first.

The battle lines have been drawn by Redskin Rich now it seems. How will Quake respond?

Oh HELL NO.... I still have my battle on simmer with _nn on players getting paid to do a autograph deal.... I can't fight a war on two fronts... I am to much a student of history to try that.

Re: Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpeper.. do we want him??????

Maybe we could get him for Jason Campbell straight up? Would they go for that? We might have to throw in a second round pick or Ethan Albright or something like that.

Why the hell do we want a walking injury on our team? JC is our man with the old vet Brunell as the backup guy, with hopefully one of the young guys at #3. Culpepper is dreadfully slow and just a waste of space anymore.

But wait guys. When was Culpepper at his best? When he had a certain reciever named Moss. We got a Moss. That's all the logic I need.

Actually, I think we should have gone back to having Trent as OUR QB, and we could all trust in Gus as number 2. JC could :benched:

Re: Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpeper.. do we want him??????

I am not convinced that Culpepper is washed up by any means but there is a rather measurable risk with him as well as some daunting indirect risks. The indirect risks like shuttling the development of Campbell and so forth are what really make me against this.

There is a reason that they traded for him one season and can't wait to get him out of town just one year later too.

Geez, I would take on all comers in the Wash Post Skins message board forum just out of boredom with the JC vs MB debate, etc I would come up with conspiracy theories about the refs and the Skins, etc. Anything to have some fun with those guys. Oh man those were the days!!! The Post doesn't update the threads too quickly anymore.

I don't see a reason for another QB, who's gonna need a full year under his belt to learn the daunting 700+ page playbook, then sit on the bench

Re: Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpeper.. do we want him??????

Let me guess...add him to our what?.......6 QB's already? I thought we all were trying to get rid of old tired QB's and get younger. Lets see we have Campbell, Brunell, Collins, Bramlet, Palmer and the Maryland undrafted free agent we felt sorry for and decided to give a chance to let other teams who might need a future QB get a look. No let his old tired broke butt go to Atlanta.

Re: Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpeper.. do we want him??????

It was inevitable that this thread would come up. Not a bad thread for the offseason, its been slow lately.

I thought Culpeper was great in so many ways, yet still lacked something. He fumbles a lot & it was always said that he wasn't a great game preparer.

I wouldn't be so opposed to him based on his value as a player at this point, but I am opposed to signing him simply for chemistry reasons. He's not a young dude lookin to make the roster, he wants to win the starting job & I would question how he would react to being #2.

Can anyone remember a QB falling so far in 2 years?

Do we want him???? Are you serious????

Not no but Hell No. We are fine at QB, we have our starter in JC, our backup in Brunell, and our 3rd in Bramlet (I hope). Why go create instability at a position that we are just now getting to where it needs to be, and bring in someone who has to take over a year to learn this offense. DUMB!

we actually have 3 quarterbacks that know the system. why the heck would we even consider this?

Re: Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpepper.. do we want him??????

A key reason we haven't played in many playoff games in recent years:

—Offensive tackle Jon Jansen has blocked for 14 quarterbacks during his eight years with the Redskins. They were Brad Johnson, Rodney Peete, Jeff George, Todd Husak, Tony Banks, Kent Graham, Shane Matthews, Danny Wuerffel, Patrick Ramsey, Rob Johnson, Gibran Hamdan, Tim Hasselbeck, Mark Brunell and Jason Campbell.

You know outta all those QB's there's only one or maybe two worth a shit at ALL, come to think of it. The rest a bunch of scrubs.

But hopefully the last one is gonna be special.........

Re: Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpepper.. do we want him??????

OK there are 3 main reasons why i dont want this guy:

1. He is injury prone.
2. He is basically another Brunell like someone out there already mentioned.
3. We already have 3 QB's with a possibility with four

Re: Dolphins to attempt trade of Culpepper.. do we want him??????

Why would we want Culpepper?
He's been overrated since he played with Randy Moss...

I'll take Brunell over Culpepper as a back up.

I think we're gonna see good things from Campbell this season.
