They seem to be riding the concept of the Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch, which is a great show.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

On my DVR can't wait to watch it. I agree hooskins, trailers definietly seem alot like the deadliest catch which is a runaway hit.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

that show is pretty good. its kind of a copy of deadliest on discovery. but its till a very danguras job to have. i cant imagine driving for like 10 hours strait when im on a frozen river.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

I watched it was pretty awesome. I still think deadlist catch is better, though I have had enough of that show as well.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

it is a complete copy of deadliest catch.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

I'd expect it to be similar. Both shows are from, I suppose the somewhat ironically named, Original Productions

I'll be checkin' this out now, especially since this season's Deadliest Catch just ended.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

I am a viewer of Deadliest Catch since the beginning, but I think it's run it's course. I mean, how many times can we watch them pull the cage up on the boat? At some point it becomes us waiting for someone to fall in the water. They're not breaking any new ground. If I were Sig, I would get out before the show jumps the King Crab if it hasn't already.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

Anyone else not that impressed with king crab legs.

I love the show, but being from Maryland... it's kinda hard to work myself about eating shipped frozen crab legs.

I'd go blue crab every time over a king crab.

chantilly101 06-23-2007 01:13 PM

Re: Ice Road Truckers

Deadliest Catch is repetitive when they pull the crab. but there are some very funny moments in the show. oh yea, 70Chip, do you know about how much each person on a ship makes????? well they make from 30,000-60,000 dollars each season. there are two seasons in a year, opelio and king crab. so that means they make almost 80,000 dollars a year.

Yeah. I saw the Hanson brothers interviewed by Donnie Deutch. I think the captains make more like 500k clear. They earn it as far as I'm concerned. Just watching those boats go up and down makes me ill. I just think at some point it's like, okay, we get it. I'd actually be more interested to find out what they do the other eight months of the year at this point.

Have any of you seen "After The Catch"?

Yeah, I have, it's good to hear about the things that were not televised. I like the deadliest catch cause I love the ocean and traveling by the ocean...I am more into the waves than anything.

I did not watch the show, mainly cause I thought the advertising sucks. A truck travels across ice...that's it? That didn't peak my interest.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

It's not that its not an interesting show. But i don't get why they have to drive to the mine. why can they send the stuff they in in helicopters and planes. it would be so much easier and not as dangerous.

I'm totally hooked on Truckers right now. There's no way you could get me driving up that lake. That's really an insane job.

It's cool for sure. Last nights was a repeat from last week but still good.

I'll be watching it for a while for sure. Deadliest Catch is very cool too.

Re: Ice Road Truckers

Someone needs to start a freight shipping service to cater specifically to that area. What about shipping the stuff using boats when its not frozen?
If the mines are worth that much wouldn't it be logical to use airplanes or helicopters? I missed the point on that one. But nevertheless Im watching.

I don't think helicopters can work in that kind of environment...and I think it would be tough to work planes in that kind of environment due to blinding snow and hurricane type winds.

Ok what about in the summer?

There's obviously some of the world's top engineers working at these mines, I'm sure if there were better ways to get the supplies up there they would have thought of something by now.

Exactly.
While it would work fine in the summer, the mines are open all year round. I doubt "daisy crushing truckers" would have the same ratings. :D
