This makes me sick. I want to say rest in peace, but I couldn't care less about a murderer resting peacefully. Rest in peace to all the innocent.

Those were my sentiments exactly. My heart goes out to the family, but the fact that he took the life of his own wife and kid eats me up.

They started the tribute before the details from the Sheriff's Dept came out...

I'm very conflicted. I knew of a Benoit that was a class act, who showed wrestling fans that you could wrestle best friends and worst enemies and still shake hands out of respect afterwards. And now, they are talking double murder-suicide...it's a sad day.

Im not making any excuses for anyone, but Im betting the excessive use of steroids is behind this. They contribute to depression, and with the intense schedule these guys do, combined with uppers and painkillers, it could very well be a deadly combination of drugs that caused this. Sad day.

I wonder what was going through this guy's head to make him kill his son and wife. He must have been really tortured mentally, or just delusional. This kinda reminds me of when Phil Hartman killed his wife and then killed himself. It's hard to believe that people who get to do what they love for a living have these types of breakdowns.

that's a great point. Benoit definitely looked like he was on steroids. His back and his arms just did not look natural.

No No No. Phil Hartman's wife killed HIM and then she killed herself.

Sorry, but that guy was an all time great comedian IMO so I have to defend him.

Yeah, he was one of the all time funniest guys. She murdered him and took one of the great SNL comedians away from us.

They've been talking about this story on Elliot in the AM all morning (Elliot thinks it's a hoax, but he's starting to waver) and now they're reading a report that maybe the wife killed the son, and that when Chris found out he went into a fit of rage and killed her then off'd himself.
I guess no one will know until all the details come out.

I was a big wrestling fan for a number of years, I quit watching it when during a pay per view a guy died, and the show went on. I can't imagine this is a hoax, no way that even pro Wrestling would go there.

I heard that rumor too. According to the alleged suicide note, Benoit came home to find that his wife had killed their kid, so he went nuts and killed her. He stewed about it for a day and then hanged himself.

Of course it's all a rumor, and even if the suicide note does exist it's just his word, so it could be a lie. If it turns out to be the truth, it makes Benoit's actions a little more sympathetic in my eyes.

It's not like every day, but you hear about it routinely. What the hell makes someone kill their kids? I realize it can be a challenge to survive raising children, but what can be worse?

Since they are already dead I hope this is what happened. The fact that every single guy has said the Benoit was the nicest guy they knew. That some even said they'd trust him with their kids just makes this so bizarre. I'd love to know that he commited some kind of heinous act out of pure rage over her having killed the kid. I guess it is really morbid to think like this but I'd rather know there was a understandable reason. It would redeem him some in my mind.

This gets crazier and crazier, I was watching the tribute and everyone was going off about how big of a family man he was and all this, then the Murder suicide theory comes out and it like what!?! I just heard everyone say he was such a family man. It doesn't add up?

This is complete theory off the top of my head based on nothing but the criminology classes I took in college all the A&E crimes shows that I watch, so take it with a grain of salt if you choose, but...

if he's such a huge family man and his wife devastates him by admitting to him that she had an affair or something like that I could see him going off the deep end and doing something this horrible. This would especially be true if you combined the shock of learning something like this with roid rage, which seems to be a factor.
He probably went into such a rage that he killed her, and then while he was still out of it he decided with some f'd up logic that he didn't want his son to live with the knowledge that his daddy killed his mommy so he killed him too (again, this is only 'logic' that would make sense to someone who's going completely nuts).
Apparently the wife was strangled, which is a very personal way to kill someone. He would have probably had to see her dying. At the same time, the kid was smothered, meaning that he was probably hidden under a pillow.
Then after a couple of hours to calm down he realized what a horrible thing he had done and he took the coward's way out.

Like I said, I have nothing to back any of this up but it's a theory.
(maybe I should go get my master's in criminology after all.)

Exactly what I was thinking. "I want a divorce" or something similar is not something a "family man" wants to hear. I doubt he was a family man though. He's on the road all the time and he has been through previous marriage(s).

Right, especially if he was on 'roids.
Imagine if she said she was leaving him for another man. He's a guy who's whole life is based around being the most macho, man's man in the world so he probably wouldn't have been able to face something as emasculating as as losing his wife to another man (in his mind at least).
