Long time
Hey Guys been a long time since I last logged sorry it's been a very hectic year.
Just wanted to say hi and well I'll be posting more for now on the season it's almost here time for some serious talk. I know there might be a lot of threads of this subjects already but I just wanted to hear your opinion on your team? how do you see it before the start of training Camp what do you look forward 2 and what are you worried? For me in the case of the Cowboys the 2 are related what I want to see the most it's how this team will look with the new offense, and defense. Is it all that the players and coaches have been raving about? is Romo the players we saw the first 6 games or the 1 we saw the last 3 even though he didn't played bad (as a QB) in the Playoffs. what I worry the most is if the team will have enough time to play like a unit and be effective with so many changes, will Roy play like his first 2 years in this scheme, we have great starters but so many areas we have ? marks in the subjects of backups specially NT and will this Offense live up to it's potential. In the case of the Redskins in my point what I think everyone is looking forward to see is the new dynamic duo on the field ( Taylor and Landry) what I think you worry the most or the things you want the most to know are fixed, Will the defensive Line be able to put pressure and be dominant like it was 2 years ago?, Has Campbell Mature enough or shown signs that he can be the QB to lead this team and will this offense look like a real Sauders offense or will it be just running sideways like last year? By the way GREAT pick on Landry great use of the pick I know many "experts" question it because they all said that you needed to move down and get more draft picks because you had more needs than 1 player which was true but it all came down to what player you got and that even things out what it's better to get 2 or 3 good to avrg players or 1 superstar game changing in your case I would had gone for Landry also. |
Re: Long time
hey there I am the one known as Earthquake2689. I like it when Cowboys fans post.

Re: Long time
Yeah, D/Boyz is our favorite Cowboy fan to beat up on. He usually takes it in stride though.
|
Re: Long time
Welcome back D. Let's hope it's a good season for both teams, I think the NFL is better off when the Cowboys and Redskins are slugging it out for the division.
|
Re: Long time
Did I just see Matty say he hopes the Cowboys have a good season?
:nono: |
Re: Long time
I actually happen to think the Cowboys will be pretty good this year.

:nono:[/quote] Good, but not as good as the Skins obviously. C'mon, how much fun was it in 2005 when the Skins hammered the Cowboys 35-7 late in the year with playoff implications on the line?! |

Greatest sporting event I've ever been to. Can you imagine if the skins and Cowboys have the first and second best records in the NFC headed into week 17 this year? The skins 12-3 the Cowboys 13-2, skins beat the cowboys 4 weeks earlier and if they win at home they get the tie breaker and homefield throughout the playoffs and a bye while the cowboys get the 5th seed. Skins win in a close one. 3rd seed expects to beat 6th seed Cowboys beat 4th seed because the cowboys, for all purposes are the second best team in teh NFC That leads up to a Skins vs Cowboys game again in the divisional round of the playoffs. Two games at home in a row, both against the cowboys. Skins go 3-0 Vs the cowboys and win the superbowl. :D Happy thoughts. I might have taken it too far. |

This year we're going to the final skins-boys game in texas stadium & I would love a repeat of that day in 05. |

Welcome bhack D!
I don't solicit Cowboy news as a rule, but it seems, the Boy's have been noticably quiet through the off-season?? |

I just can't see the Cowboys being any better than 7-9 or 8-8. New schemes on both sides of the ball is usually a precursor to lots of growing pains. Oh and Wade Phillips... :laughing2 |

I think the Cowboys could go 10-6 this year. |
Re: Long time
I think Romo is a big question mark for them. After a fast start he really struggled down the stretch.

I'd agree with you if Parcells was still there and they were building on last year, but it almost seems like a rebuilding year for them with the complete coaching overhaul. I'll be very surprised if Phillips actually produces a winning season. |
Re: Long time
The new scheme they are presenting I'm taking with a grain of salt. We had top ten defenses two years in a row and then GW made some changes and we heard how much the players liked it.
We all know what happened in 2006. The good news for Cowboys fans is that I don't think there will be a dropoff in 2007, but just hearing that the players love it doesn't make me feel any more confident in it. More good news for them is that if it takes a year to learn it ex. Saunder's offense, then next year they'll be pretty damn good. Bad news is, Redskins will have THREE years in Saunder's system. |

However the game that we played two years ago had a hype about it that we rarely get. Tickets prices were through the roof and everyone was excited pre-game too. The anticipation which lead up to such a beating was great. I utterly enjoyed every freaking second of that game. The fans were in it like i've never seen at fed ex. Cowboy fans left in shame. We've had 3 extremely great wins to remember over the past two years against dallas. Their one win wasn't worth remembering. Our 3 wins will always be remembered by me. I love all those games for different reasons. F... DALLAS. |
Re: Long time
And since we've taken 3 out of 4, it's starting a little bit of a trend. Unlike after the Monday Night Miracle, Dallas fans were like, "Ohh, that's just luck."
3 out of 4 isn't a luck, it's a trend and you can no longer give us that bullshit of, "Well, well, remember 13 out of 14?!?!" |

I'd be surprised if he produces one at all during his tenure with the team. I like the guy as a D Coordinator, but he's not head coaching material, IMO. I'll be surprised if they do any better than 7-9. I like the Boys D, but I don't think the O is anything to get excited about. Julius Jones is not that good and Romo needs to return to his early form and not continue to play the way he did down the stretch last season. |

Re: Long time
I believe the Skins look promising this year.
Campbell will be in his second year with the same offensive coordinator for the first time in his career. Last year he only really had problems with short passes, and he should be able to correct that pretty easily. Apparently, he has been living out of Redskins Park and watching a lot of film. He might not set the world on fire, but I don't see him as being an obstacle to our success. With the exception of LG, the offensive line has been together for quite a while. A lot can be said about consistency on the offensive line. Although we lost our LG Dockery, we should be able to compensate for the loss. I expect our offensive line to play at the same level they did last year. Of course, our offensive backfield is in great shape with Portis healthy and Betts to spell him. We've got plenty of options at receiver, and with Cooley at TE it will be difficult for the opposing defense to cover everyone. I think it will come down to whether or not Campbell can beat the blitz consistently. That shouldn't be too difficult if we have another successful season rushing the ball. I think the biggest question is the defense. Will G Williams' new simplified scheme be able to turn this underachieving defense around? Will the additions to the secondary improve a unit that was terrible last year? Will we get consistent pressure on the QB? I think the addition of MLB Fletcher will make a HUGE impact on the entire defense. He'll make sure that everyone is where they need to be -- a big thing that was missing last year. I think the entire defense will be more comfortable and players will trust that others will be in position. This will help our defenders focus and help them to not spread themselves too thin. A big problem last year was that our secondary was trying to do too much. I think having Fletcher on the field will help to put the secondary at ease. Our defensive line is probably the biggest concern heading into training camp. Everyone will be mainly looking at Carter, Golston, and Montgomery. Carter's play started to pick up at the end of last season, and we all want to know if that was a sign of good things to come, or just a fluke. Golston and Montgomery are young, and if they develop into solid players it could help propel us deep into the playoffs. Good things have been said about both of them, but we'll want to see if that is just hype. Hopefully, our guys can stay healthy. Injuries trump everything else. If we can do that, I think we'll win the division. |

I don't agree man what about the saints last year they changed coachign staff the changed half the defense and QB I think if you have the talent which the cowboys already have and if the new scheme isn't that diferent or complicated like Sauders 300 pages playbook players can adapt. |

Re: Long time
Ok...here it comes...you all know it's coming....
DALLAS SUCKS. |
Re: Long time
Everyone is real close in the NFC East. But I would give the Cowboys a slight edge over everyone else.
Here is how I see it compared to the Skins. QB. Very slight edge to Dallas. Only because Romo got a playoff start and has been around for 4 years. RB. Skins TE Even OL Skins WR Dallas DL Dallas LB Dallas 2ndary Even Teams Even Coaching. Even |
Re: Long time
I think you have to give the skins the edge on coaching

I am going off last year. Just cause we have 50 coaches doesn't mean they did a good job. GW had a bad year and Al and Joe did not mesh well until the end. I think Wade P. is as good a d-coordinators as anybody. Now I'm not sure about Jason Garrett running the offense so we shall see. |

We'll see, but the Saints are much better offensive team than the Boys. Both of the Saints running back and their QB are all better than the Boys'. Romo had Parcells' whole tenure to learn the playbook, so you don't know how quickly he'll pick up on a new one. Not to mention, he regressed at the end of last season. The only thing the Boys have over the Saints is TO and he had as bad a year as I've seen him have in a long time last season. I think they're in trouble. |
