Wii availability
I'm amazed these things still are not readily available in stores. What the heck is going on with this thing? Is it a production issue? Is Nintendo intentionally holding back to keep demand up?

Re: Wii availability
Seems not too hard to get them anymore around here. Just have to make a few calls and find out when shipments are in. CC gets like 8 and sells out of them in about 2 days now here.

Re: Wii availability
I receive email notifications from circuit city when they come in and they're gone just as quick it seems.
|
Re: Wii availability
By the time you get those e-m ails they have probably been in the store since last night or something. My boss just called around and found out when the shipment came in. Went to the store and had the guy get one from the back on the day they came in.

Re: Wii availability
i'm in middle of nowhere Mississippi right now, and iphones and wii's aren't hard to get here.

Re: Wii availability
but I bet spittoons and shotguns still fly off the shelf ;)

Re: Wii availability
I got one off Craig's list for less than retail (once you add in the extra controller). I just read that they are anticipating April before you can walk into any store and find one on the shelf.

Re: Wii availability
Pretty crazy...but Nintendo seems to have the whole Supply/Demand thing down pat.
|
Re: Wii availability
It is - I remember having this conversation here a year ago and thinking Feb/Mar 2007 they would be everywhere.
|
Re: Wii availability
A year later and they are still hard to find, just crazy

Re: Wii availability

Re: Wii availability
My dad (or more accurately, my little sister) lucked out by walking into a GameStop about 2 minutes after they received their shipment. Prior to that me, my parents, my sisters, and our extended family had been searching all over the state of Maryland with no luck.

Re: Wii availability
I have heard that the demand for the Wii stayed steady after last year. Nintendo has two factories working at 100% capacity and does not want to invest in building a third factory for fears that right after the holidays they would then have three factories running at 70%. SO from an economical stand point, it makes sense. From a customer stand point it sucks.
You should just get up at 6:30 and go wait in line outside of a Toys R Us like I did. Before you say that is stupid, remember I have had mine for over a year. |
Re: Wii availability
I bought mine off of a friend but there are never any in any Wal-Mart or Blockbuster you have to try Best Buy that is your Best Bet.
|
Re: Wii availability
I work at Toys-r-us and when we get them in there is a line waiting outside the store before it opens because a lot of people call and ask when we get them in so they can wait outside, you don't have a chance in hell of getting one if you aren't waiting outside the store about 3 hours before they open. It's crazy how much demand there is for them, but hey they are hot sellers and right now Nintendo is keeping the demand high.

Re: Wii availability
Yea Im a vendor at Walmart and they get there shipments usually tuesdays. They seem to get from about 8-20 depending on the store size, the bigger the store the more they seem to get. In less than an hour they are gone. If your still desperate for them try your local walmart on a tuesday around 10-11, once they are checked in.
|
Re: Wii availability
yeah but you only get one per customer per day

What do you vend, warpath. I've done Pep. Farm bread for a while. Walmarts are so annoying with their Harris Teeter type of check in system. One vendor allowed in at a time, while Im standing out in the rain getting product all wet. |

Electronics dept, I do the movies, books, kids books, sell comcast or satellite tv. It definitely sucks, but the positive is that I dont have a boss directly watching me every day. I havent seen my boss in about 4 months. |
Re: Wii availability
I happened to be at a store today when they were delivered. I got one if anyone is still looking for one. I think they are getting easier to get now though.
