22. Washington Redskins Obviously, the Redskins did not get their money's worth with the acquisitions of Antwaan Randle El and Brandon Lloyd. They envisioned a dangerous three-receiver attack with these two and Santana Moss. The truth of the matter is that they still have one excellent wideout in Moss and two players who are much better suited as No. 3 receivers. Moss is small, but he is extremely dangerous when healthy. He can turn a hitch route into a 70-yard touchdown in the blink of an eye and can challenge any secondary deep. The Redskins' quarterback output has been subpar and we expect Jason Campbell to be much improved this season, but they simply have to get more from Randle El and Lloyd. |
Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
Hearing that at least Lloyd was working with JC during the offseasson a bit does give hope that he will return to 49er form, which will kick ass and automatically open up things for Randle El and Santana. If they play like last year(Llyod and Randle El), our offense is going to stink it up again. Lloyd is better than Randle El for sure and more of a threat.

HOWEVA, I expect both Randle El and Lloyd to be MUCH improved this season. I think Randle El could very possibly break out and establish himself as a legit #2 and I, personally, love what he brings to the table as a wild card offensively. I think this group will be much better this season with a QB who can stretch the field and a better comfort level with the offense and Jason Campbell. |
Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
im not the ultimate homer, but come on. can anyone name more then 5 or 6 that are better?

Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
based on last year 22 is about right I was really desapointed with Lloyds and randall production I tought they would be better specially Lloyd not so much Randall he's for me a 5 good plays per year player that's all
What spot did dallas was ranked? |
Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
I really think our stats were deflated last year, so I'm really not surprised at all.
I love getting low balled anyways, so then we can be the feel good story this upcoming season. |

Also Lloyd has been working out as well. I think that he knows he could be playing this year for his NFL career. Another bad season we would let him go and who would even pick him up and if they did it might be for vet minimum. |

I was dissapointed i nthe matter that I said you would have 1 of the best receiving sets in the league that with moss game play, Lloyds going in the middle and Randall game changing plays combine with Sauders offense it would be a very deadly offense. But it turned out to be Vanilla I've never liked Randall I've sai tha tbut I tought Lloyd was a good addition that's why I was dissapointed because I tought it would be a better offense. |

That's funny at this time last year, we would have been like 3rd or 4th.

Outside of Moss, I am not a fan of our wideouts. Let them prove me wrong.

Yep, I'm with you on that one. When you think about it, we haven't had so much as a solid wideout duo since '99 with Westbrook and Connell. Lloyd or Randle El have to step the hell up this year. |

Here's why: WR's after Moss are question marks. Defensive line performance is a question mark. QB production is a question mark. Clinton Portis' health is a question mark. McIntosh's play is a question mark. Washington's health is a question mark (until I see otherwise). Landry at safety is a question mark. Springs health is a question mark. Smoot's on field production is a question mark. Todd Wade is a question mark. Stupid off-season giving me time to dwell on negative crap! |

All we have to do is read what all the experts write. We will be an embarassment this year. They all agree we will be horrible so maybe the skins will just forfeit all the games this year and save themselves the embarassment. |

I just wish SI would tell me what 5 games we are gonna win this year so I know what tickets to buy.

Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
I think that our receivers are set to have a break out year.
Here's why: 1. They are no longer learning a new system. 2. The coaches are no longer having to learn what Lloyd and El do best. 3. Lloyd is better suited to the down field throws that we can expect from Campbell more than we could with Brunell. 4. Saunders offense typically lights it up in year 2. 5. see number 4. and add that the previous offenses never needed big name receivers. 6. Chemistry |

Speaking of the Redskins being bashed on every sports show in America, I don't know if you guys saw it but on Cold Pizza they said "Well its never too early to look forward to next year. So who do you think will be the overall #1 pick in 2008?? Well to figure that out you have to decide who will have the #1 pick and my choice will have to go with the Washington Redskins drafting the DE out of USC". That just makes me laugh. The worst record in the NFL, yeah right. I cant wait for this season to start. |

Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
I think they might be confusing our WR corps, with our QB. We have good talent at WR, they just haven't been able to show it because of our QB situation last year.
Not that it matters, but we definitely have a better WR corps than just 10 other teams. I would reason that these teams are just as bad, if not worse. They either have no receiver that can compare to Moss, or they only have 1 comparable receiver, and nobody behind him: 1. Cleveland 2. Houston 3. Jax 4. KC 5. Oakland 6. San Diego 7. Tennessee 8. Carolina 9. Chicago 10. Green Bay 11. Minnesota 12. Philadelphia |
Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
What's a WR to do when you have a QB who can't get you the ball? Brunell who all these experts have been saying has been and is washed up, and rightly so, are now blaming the WR's for lack of production. Couple that with an inexperienced QB in Campbell and that is a recipe for failure in the passing game, let's see how bad they are this season. I saw Lloyd open quite a bit last season and Brunell unable to get the ball downfield to him after he beat his man, and it seemed Randall had a good repore with Campbell, I think we are much better than any of these guy's really know, but that's what you get when someone writes a review based on stats, rather than actually watching to see what kind of circumstanses brought about those type of numbers in the passing game!

Good post. I think Brunell's shoulder issue, plus general conservative nature, led to him missing chances to throw to Lloyd. I generally think Lloyd is a punk, but by no means do I think he's a waste of space. I think Campbell will find him a bit more this year and his numbers will look a bit more like they did in San Fran. That said, I still think he's a malcontent and will be a problem for the team at some point this season. The WR talent, and the QB, are both good enough to open up the offense and give Clinton and Ladell the space they need to wreak havoc on the ground. |

I hated seeing LC go back to the Jets. His hands were glue. I would hate to see what we would be ranked with LC here instead of Lloyd.

ah short term memory loss. forgive me my fun. but you're correct.

Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
Any word on what Randle El did in the off season with regards to working out, running, etc? Lloyd should be improved, but haven't heard about Randle El. I hope he isn't the new David Patten.

Ok, to make it fair I was dissapointed when Romo dropped that snap. Ok, maybe I wasn't! |
Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
They seem to be analyzing last season and projecting that on to 2007 with all these rankings. We all saw what happened last year. If you're going to call it a projection give us something other than a re-cap of what we all already know. For instance, I am still projecting Tom Brady to have a season-ending injury in pre-season- possibly a broken leg. Something like that.
|
Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
I don't like it, but it sounds about right to me. I think they will have thier chance this year if the O-line gels even more and protects JC.
|
Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
Who was number 1?
|
Re: Scouts Inc WR rankings
moss is a probowl talent the other wr are just third wr on a good team. Randel el is a good special teams player and lloyd stinks. He always been a problem.
