Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
ESPN - Dolphins release unhappy quarterback Culpepper - NFL
His fate was sealed ahwile ago when Trent Green came to town. Not a big shock. Will he end up somewhere or is he done? |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
i thought i read somewhere that jacksonville was interested in him.
|
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
First I would like to say shame on Miami for treating the guy like shit. Once they got Green they should have just cut the guy instead of dragging it out like they did. They didn't let the guy practice or train at the facility even though he was under contract. Total BS.
It looks like he will end up in Jack. It's hard to believe just a few short years ago this guy had one of the best seasons ever for an NFL QB. W/out Moss the guy looks lost, plus he has been hurt. I honestly think he is done but I hope he proves me wrong. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
i agree with you skinsfan, the way miami treated him was horrible.
|
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
Miami treated Dante like the Skins treated Patrick, but at least Dante did get hurt, Patrick just got yanked. I read the Dante wanted to stay in Fla and Jacksonville would be a good fit for him. I can no longer see him as a bona fide starter though.

If I recall, Ramsey was never allowed not to come to the facility. He just got benched because of poor performance. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
I think Jacksonville picks him up. Leftwich is in the last year of his deal and this would make some sense.

STOP!!! Ramsey got yanked because he wasn't good. End of story, 2 seasons ago. Let it go!!! |

Gotta agree with you there. Anytime a guy is throwing to the likes of Randy Moss and Cris Carter, he's likely to put up some big numbers. |

Thank you! |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
On Culpepper...I'm just amazed at his downfall. It was just the other year when he was a couple td passes behind peyton when he broke the record.
Surely he's not totally spent yet |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
OK, since no one else will say it, Culpepper to Atlanta?

That is a good point. But I think Culpepper will end up n San Diego backing up Rivers or in Jacksonville. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
Let's keep in mind the NFL is a business and Miami was just protecting their interests by not letting him practice and risk injury. They wanted to trade him but in the end they had to bite the bullet and release him. Every team in the league would have done the same thing.

It's either that or the 'rape room'! |

But they were letting the guy practice and work out until Green got in town. Then Green shows up and he can't do anything?? Sorry but that is wrong. If he is under contract, which DC was, then you can't lock the guy out of the facility. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
Sucks for Culpepper but again, this stuff happens. It happened to McNair when he left the Titans.

yeah but I doubt Culpepper has the same result. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
Why not the Raiders? It would give them some leavage in the JaMarcus Russell contract. Plus he could probably start and bring JaMarcus Russell along slowly. JaMarcus Russell probably will probably miss a good amount of training camp with a hold out.

What? Gave him all the time in the world to develope then sucked donkey balls when he got his shot? |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
Alright, I'm not usually the one to see someone get cut and me say SIGN HIM, but this guy has a lot of talent. We could easily drop Collins, or even Brunell to make room for him. Who among us would rather have Brunell over Culpepper.

Definitely would rather have Brunell. Putting aside the fact that we don't know how Daunte's knees are, consider that we're-I assume-talking about signing Culpepper as a backup to Campbell (not to replace him). I want my backup, especially to a young QB like JC, to be able to serve as a mentor and know the offense. Culpepper doesn't know this offense and I don't think he has any intention of being anyone's mentor. For the role the backup has to serve on our team, give me Brunell any day. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
So much for my plan to not mention Brunell's name this season

season hasnt started yet. you are still in the clear. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
^^ lets just hope nothing crazy happens and the fans start calling for him. No more QB controversy
|
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
Well a lot of fans seem convinced he'll play because he's "Gibbs' guy"
Apparently, they've forgotten who drafted Jason Campbell |

For the role the backup has to serve on our team, give me Brunell any day.
I disagree, 1- Brunell is old, and takes up a lot of cap space while Culpepper is hitting his prime age. 2- We have two old players that "know the system", if we drop brunell then collins would still be there. Right now we have no young back up unless you count what we'll have on the practice squad. Culpepper came back too early, and that affected him. It's not like he had time to learn his WR's or the system. That would be a huge upgrade for us. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
No way Brunell plays this year barring injury.

You actually provide a very good point NOT to sign him. I am sick of QB controversies. But if Cambell sucks, then this whole season is shot. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
No way Brunell plays this year barring injury.
But injuries are a huge part of the game. Not even Manning takes 100% of the snaps...although he comes DAMN close. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
If Campbell sucks I will cry like a little girl.

yes it is but I see Campbell starting 15 games, not the lasr one cause we will have home-field wrapped up. |

When is the last time he missed any significant playing time during a meaningful game? Or Tom Brady? Unless we're not serious about Campbell, I don't think there is anything to gain from signing Culpepper to be a backup. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
If Campbell sucks I will cry like a little girl.
I think we all will...and quite frankly, I feel it's there is a 40% chance of that happening. I am hoping he is going to have a 3500 yard season with 25 tds and 12 ints...up to 15 ints. |
Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?
If I recall, Ramsey was never allowed not to come to the facility. He just got benched because of poor performance.
I don't recall that Ramsey got benched for poor performance. If I remember correctly, he had over a 100 yards in a quarter and a half and had thrown for one touchdown (called back through no fault of Ramsey's) when he was benched for almost the whole season. I also remember that in Ramsey's last game as a Redskin he had a quarterback rating of about 180 and led the Skins in a playoff win against the Giants, only to then be benched for good and traded. The Skins should pick up Culpepper, but they won't. Once again, Gibbs' judgment about Brunell is in the way of sanity as well as being a monumental irritant. Campbell goes down, Skins go down. We have the weakest backup in the NFL. I'd give five Brunells and faily decent bucks for Culpepper. I'd also cut our other worthless backup and bring up Casey for the third option. |

LOL, he'll still start the 16th game to get the practice, but come out around half time. |
