Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
Commissioner Roger Goodell has ordered Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons not to report to the team’s training camp pending the completion of an NFL review of his recent indictment by a federal grand jury in Richmond, Va., for allegedly participating in an interstate dog-fighting enterprise.

What I don't get is how Joey Harrington keeps finding starting jobs.

Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
I think Vick is getting a one year suspension sooner rather than later. Plain and simple. He might avoid any major jail time, but he is going to pay a heavy price as he deserves. Goodell is realizing that the evidence is just so overwhelming that there just isn't much of a choice.

And meanwhile his cousin is winning the British Open. As for Vick, this is probably best for everyone. He stills gets paid and the distractions for him and the team aren't there. |

That is what the Falcons are thinking of their trade with Houston. |
They both have a great knack for falling ass-backwards into good fortune. He hit two balls in the water on the 72nd hole and still won. Unbelievable. Also Vick has hired Billy Martin to plead his case: Or maybe it's the Bill Martin that played basketball at Georgetown: Bill Martin Past Stats, Playoff Stats, Statistics, History, and Awards |

Do you think the players union will fight this?
I do not think that NFLPA want's to touch this one at all. It is not like Vick is forefeiting any pay to stay away. On another note nobody want's to be known for supporting Vick with all of the evidence against him. Furthermore the NFLPA sits on Goodell's Player Conduct board. I am sure that they spoke on this matter prior to the decision. |

Yeah, but didn't they run to Pacman Jones side? |
Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
I don't think evidence or the charges where this bad against Pacman.

well, the evidence was overwhelming, but the charges are not considered as severe. True. |
Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
As long as Vick is getting paid I don't see a problem with Goodell ordering him to stay at home. If I were Vick I would probably stay home just to let things cool down a bit.
As for the NFLPA getting involved, you can bet your ass NFLPA will fight it, especially if Vick didn't violated any conduct policy. If the NFLPA doesn't fight it then what good are they? What's the point of being a member of a union that doesn't fight for it's members? |
Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
I dont think there is any way the union touches this. I dont think the NFL would have any trouble finding conduct policies violated by Vick in this case so thats not even a worry for the NFL lawyers.
This is a cant win for the union, they know that. They will leave this alone. |
Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
The NFL is already catching a lot of heat for not doing serious anything about Vick yet. People are watching this situation, and watching Vick slowly go down in flames, and that includes the guys that are squealing on him. NFLPA wont touch this matter with a 30 foot pole. Vick is on his own

Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
It's the right thing for them to do, no doubt. It allows the team to move forward as much as possible. Switching your offense to Joey's skill set(yes i mentioned Joey Harrington and skills in the same sentence), from Mike's is going to be hard enough without the added chaos.

He obviously has a good agent who targets teams with problem starters that could be hurt or suspended so Joey can play. His play isn't earning him the spots. It's his agent or just dumb luck. |
Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
Vick has played his last down for Atlanta. We will see Vick in 08 in a new uniform.

Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
The following link offers a pretty interesting take on what options the Falcons discussed recently re: Michael Vick. Of course, this is from an AJC reporter, so I would NEVER consider it gospel.

Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
It doesn’t sound like the Falcons will do anything until the NFL has completed their investigation. Sorry no link, just listening to Arthur Blank on live radio. Stay tuned.

And the countdown has begun until we hear someone here say the Skins should sign him. |

I don't think he will come here, but he is done in Atl. No way he can play for them anymore. But there are alot of teams that could use him. Miami, Det, GB, KC. Jack. and TB to name a few. |

But he can run better than JC, and him and CP are such good pals.....put a fork in that tard! Dr. Commish is laying down the law! As he should. Good move on the behalf of the NFL, since Sir Arthur wasn't doing shit! |

Re: Goodell Orders Vick to Stay Home
"The NFL said Vick would still get his preseason pay and Goodell told the Falcons to withhold any disciplinary action of their own until the league's review was completed."
Preseason pay for a NFL veteran is only 1,100 a week. From what I've read and heard the Falcons owner feels like Vick has been lying to him for years and doesn't want to pay Vick his 07' salary of 6 million to sit the year out. Not only that, but the Falcons are ready to take the huge cap hit they will face by cutting him. Even if he is cleared of these charges his days as a Falcon are defiantly over. |
