Cooley is a Beast!

It says Chris Cooley had "registered 65 knockdown blocks, including eight that resulted in touchdowns." I never knew that he was such a monstrous blocker. I bet that he'll do his fair share to help the running game along. Plus, he has consistently won the Golden Helmet Award, which is given to the team's hardest hitter. He was even a defensive end coming into college. Who knows, maybe they might even consider giving him a look a defensive end (playing both ways) if the position looks too desperate.

Well, anyway I just wanted to demonstrate what people feel like when they run into Chris Cooley

:banghead:

Well it looks like the he is going to be a heck of a blocker. It doesnt look like he would want the ball much. With KWII I could see him crying about not getting enough passes his way.

Redskins_P 07-27-2004 12:13 PM

I think he's a sleeper pick. He might be a huge addition for us. Let's hope he can be as good as he was in college.

cpayne5 07-27-2004 12:28 PM

Yeah, he's got great hands also. He really sounds like a JG kind of player.

hank64 07-27-2004 12:30 PM

Wow. I hope this translates well into the pro game.

offiss 07-27-2004 12:33 PM

I really like this pick, I think he will be a big time player for us, he's taylored made for Gibb's offense.

skins009 07-27-2004 01:04 PM

I remember mel kiper really having high praise for Cooley saying he could be a steal in the middle rounds. Hope he's right.

MTK 07-27-2004 01:09 PM

Gibbs knows TE's, I'd be really surprised if Cooley doesn't end up a solid pro.

SKINSnCANES 07-27-2004 01:13 PM

well he did put up the numbers in college, better numbers then KWII. Of course the level of competition isnt even comparable. Hes got great coaches to start his NFL career.

As a side not, hes ranked as a 60 in 2K5. I really hope they give him the benefit of the doubt and rank him higher in madden, because I really want to start this guy and get him ranked up in the 90's. But if they make him to bad it will be hard to overcome some of the low stats.

I think he'll be in mid to high 70's in madden. I'm curious to see where they rank ST.

Duffman003 07-27-2004 03:08 PM

He will probably be mid 60's in madden. There aren't many high rated rookies from the third round

SKINSnCANES 07-27-2004 03:13 PM

yea theres no way that hes high 70's, probably no way hes mid 70s either. Taylor could be high 70's technically, although im sure they will give him low 80's. Third round pick arent ranked that high in madden.if hes high 60's thatll be pretty good.

MTK 07-27-2004 03:56 PM

Cooley should be about a 65 in Madden, Taylor 80-85 range initially.

Redskins_P 07-27-2004 04:01 PM

I wonder what ST's speed will be.....

BossHog 07-29-2004 12:31 PM

What will the depth chart look like this year at TE?

Madden is weird about speedy rookies. Mid-range picks can burn rubber at the combine, only too be given average speed ratings.

That Guy 07-29-2004 01:30 PM

only in this case he got a 90 in speed, which is pretty decent. Our entire team seems pretty fast this season.

SKINSnCANES 07-29-2004 03:38 PM

90 is great speed for a safety.
Last year in madden my friend was always the steelers, who had troy palamalu, their first round pick at safety. Becuase Troy had a speed of 90 it made him be able to do so mcuh for. For example, safety blitzes. They dotn work unless you have a speedy safety. the other this is if you run zone, like cover 2, and they have a fast receiver, he will be wide open once he gest past the corner zone, then will usually out run the safety if he isnt fast. Problem with troy though is he had no hands, would never get a pick, Taylor is definitly a much better safety. But kinda in the mold of troy, where they look like linebackers out there.

SKINSnCANES 07-29-2004 03:39 PM

cooley ended up as a 69 in madden, fyi. Which I think is generous, very excited about that.

That Guy 07-29-2004 07:59 PM

TEs always have crap ratings too, even decent ones.
