Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)

Only out a month, should be back in time for season. |

Only out a month, should be back in time for season.
That's a relief. You know...how is it people seem to always get hurt for the remainder of preseason? (I'm not suggesting Samuels is faking...just odd is all) |
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Actually if it is only a month, he could actually get back in time for the Skins last preseason game, but Gibbs would probably hold him out even if he was healthy. This preseason stuff is just scary!!! It like practicing for war, people still get hurt.

Thanks for the update Gmanc

I agree...it's too long too. ps- you stole my avatar! :D |
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery. I'm not very comfortable with our O-line depth.

Wahooooo!! Great News!!

Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
lets hope so

Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Honestly, I would rather have him sit out week 1 if he is not 100% by opening day than rush back into the lineup at 90% and aggravate any injury. I am really bummed by this as we have good depth at LB, CB, safety, etc., but we don't have a solid backup at LT.
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
well i wsh we could of avoided this but at least it isnt longer
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Yeah, could have been better but could have been a lot worse.
If this is the biggest setback we face this preseason then I'll be happy with that. |

I agree with you 100%. I think that we can handle the fins with out Samuels in the line up. I would much rather see him play out the whole season rather than come back pre-maturely and run the risk of loosing him for the entire season... |
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Hopefully he will come back 100% in week one.

Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
So does Wade take over or stay at guard?
|
So does Wade take over or stay at guard?
Gibbs said that Wade is going to stay at guard, which is probably a good thing. I would prefer to see Wade try to get LG down pat and experiment at LT, rather than putting Wade at LT, putting another guy at LG, and then shifting Wade back to LG after Samuels returns. |

Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
This better not turn into a lingering problem throughout the year. Hope for a full and good recovery
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
PLEASE GET WELL SOON CHRIS SAMUELS!
Anyone thinking we're signing Ray Brown for vet minimum? Yeah. I don't think so either.... hahahahahhaha. Is Wade the starter at LG and who will fill in for Samuels? |
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
I don't like this at all. Now the whole left side of the o-line is a question!
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Very lucky this was not worse. He's a vet that knows whats going on so missing camp wont be too big a deal for him and because of that there is no need to rush this. Make sure he's healthy (even if it takes until week 2) because he will be healthy and fresh for the long season ahead.
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
he is a veteran, who has been around. as long as he is ready by week 1, who cares?
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Better to find if "decent" line depth REALLY exists now
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Fabini will take snaps during camp. Wade stays at tackle - it's a new position, and he needs to get comfortable.
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Could be much worse. He'll be back for week 1, nothing to be too concerned about.
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Hopefully Samuels heals quickly, because in week one he lines up against Jason Taylor.
Seems like he's got the time to heal, and I've seen the dude play decently when in pain before. But obviously it makes me nervous. I think the real downside is that it robs Wade and Samuels of the chance to get a feel for playing next to one another in camp/preseason. I think Samuels will be healthy come week 1, but I worry about the communication between the left side of the line early in the season. |
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Samuels is a veteran and he will be ready for week 1 if all goes well with the rehab. We can thank the good Lord that is wasn't much more serious.
|
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
I am also concerned about his conditioning.
He hasn't been through a week of camp...then he sits for a month...then he goes full throttle on a touchy knee. Anyone seen what kind of shape he's in? |

Wade stays at tackle? |
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
I was going to say something too Chief...
Brud - you disappoint me man. Did you have your genius button turned off?!?! |
Re: Samuels out up to 4 weeks (From JLC)
Knee problems have been an issue with Samuels. I wonder if it is the same knee that he has had problems with before. I hope this does not become a re-occurring issue.

Are you serious? Nothing to be too concerned about. Our Pro Bowl Caliber Tackle goes down with a badly spained knee...... The season starts in 5-6 weeks and they are saying 4 weeks until he comes back. Who knows how the knee will feel after 4 weeks. We all know that the Redskins downplay injuries for some odd reason... THIS SUCKS! |

Take into consideration the intense treatment and top notch medical care he will receive and he shouldn't have much trouble being back on the field very close to 100% for week 1. |

The question I was to ask was it "up to 4 weeks" or at least 4 weeks, and that was answered here. I still am preparing myself for bad news. Not to be pessimistic, just to be realistic about injuries. We had our share last year, and you have to expect a couple problems this year at least. This is overall good news I'd say, and the timing for an injury is good. Samuels has shown in the past that he's rebounded from the same knee problems, so there is reason for optimism. Unless Whitticker & the other guards really can't step in, I would rather see Wade as our backup T. The position is too important not to have your best lineman there. Of course, the coaches might move him there if this injury occurs during the season. |

CS wont play any preseason games but he should be back by week 1 or 2. |
