Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

With us trying to copy the Bears D we need to DTs who can penetrate the line in the backfield. Think about it him and Griffin would be dangerous. What do you guys think?

After what I saw of Golston on Saturday, and to some extent Montgomery as well, I think I'd stand pat and keep our complement of 2008 draft picks intact.

I don't see us making any moves along the line unless someone get's hurt.

I would rather keep Golston and Montgomery after seeing them on Saturday. I think Golston will be a major contributor for us this season.

At this point we need help on the o-line, it could be rough if there were a couple injuries.

For all the people that said we should've drafted d-line or signed someone, now's the time to speak up.

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

As always, it depends on the price. Golston and Montgomery looked good, in the preseason. I wouldn't say the d-line has been resolved just yet.

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

Preseason folks, preseason. I do believe that our defense will be much better this years as opposed to last years. I do believe that Warren is an upgrade over anyone we have except Griffin. Golston is not that big and Montgomery needs some quickness. I'm telling you guys that Warren is a beast. If we want a defense like Chicago we need to make this move.

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

Something does not seem right here. Why is Denver trying move him all of a sudden? It's not like Jimmy Kennedy aka Mr. Underacheiver is anything to write home about. I say leave him alone.

RMSkins 08-13-2007 01:35 PM

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

No thanks. There is a reason that the Broncos are trying to move him, our DT rotation of Griffin, Golston, Montgomery, and Salave'a will do just fine.

no way. they had problems last season with trying to stop the run. and now they want to get rid of Warren? all kinds of red flags should be going up. just remember back to them trying to trade AL Wilson

I keep hearing that Golston is small, he out ways Montgomery(6-4 320). He was small, not anymore.
I keep hearing that Golston is small, he out ways Montgomery(6-4 320). He was small, not anymore.
Unless though, he completely changes the way he approches the game, its not going to make a difference.

I think the added weight is going to hurt Golston because he won't be as quick as he was last year. I don't expect him to improve against the run.

I do expect to see some of Anthony Montgomery this year.

I'll pass on this trade. Dont u understand that we're trying to "develop" Gholston and Montgomery. They cant develop if they dont get in the game.

Man I swear as soon as someone is on the trading block or released to free agency u guys are so quick for the redskins to sign them. Didnt u learn from the Archuleta deal? Duh.

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

Here's the best possible Week 1 Starting D Line---

LE-MichaelStrahan
DT-Tank Johnson
DT-Gerard Warren
RE-Simeon Rice

This makes too much sense not too happen.

Ya,But all there asking for is a 5th round pick or a 6th.Maybe Warran doesn't like the Broncos and i say lets get Warren.Hes a upgrade and if he does suck than we have nothing to lose at all we just wasted a low Pick for him.And if he does suck or act out than goldston would start so either way we have a good situation for this.

exactly what this person said...please do not sign this guy. Gettin' Pinkston was bad enough

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

I read that we were interested in him as well according to espn.com. As much as I feel that he could be a major asset to us this year and years to come, I'm not willing to sacrafic several draft picks for him. Oh, and we all know, when we deal with Denver in a trade its going to be a mid to late round pick. They got the better of us in the Champ for Portis deal already...why are we going to help them again?

Also, if you read his contract it increases dramatically over the nest three seasons from 595,000 this year to 4.5 mil to 4.8 and so on. That's a lot of money for a guy who couldn't stay on Clevelands rosters.

Does anyone know how much cap we have? All of those guys are going to cost a pretty penny. I don't think we have enough cap to sign all of them. Maybe one of them, but I wouldn't want any of them on our team right now I think we are fine.

Talk to Schneed or Canuck if you want cap numbers.

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

The Denver post article said the Broncos want a LB or WR, lets ship them Loyd & be done w/it!

I would hate to see Marshall go but he was brought up in the Briggs talks & he would fit in in Denver. I think we need his experience here, but if GW et al are after Warren they might offer him.

My feeling is that we won't make any trade for him. Remember that Denver wanted Springs but we wanted them to take some cap hit & they declined. So at least recently the front office has been more demanding w/Denver.

we are not trying to copy the bears d at all....in fact we are going away from that cover 2 bs.....if you dont think the bears play cover two then you didnt watch the carolina playoff game two years ago or the super bowl.....we are not going to play a lot of that this year....more cover 1 and cover three for us, so that landry can come down in the box more.......aaannnnnnnnywwwwwwwwayyssss, this guy is a soft puss and wont last through the 40 up downs he will owe to gwill.....thats my take

getting rid of marshall would be the dumbest move possible.

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

i say, wait for him to get cut and then see what happens. I don't want to give away any picks and I don't want to lose any players this close to the season. I would however like for him to be on the team as long as character issues aren't forcing the broncos to do this.

It makes our unit better, bringing him in. Griffin is MUCH better than him. The Broncos sucked inside last year and warren did too. He did take a salary cut to stay on the team and i think it was a big amount. I wouldn't mind him, griffin and golston rotating heavily and salavea coming in too with montgomery behind them. I would like him here. This would help out our line and if golston or griffin go down we are skrewed. Salavae used to be able to hold his own and i still give him more credit than most do but you need more than 2 decent DTs on a team.

Redskin Insider, Jason:
Redskins Insider

More Warren

Soem league sources maintain the Redskins could still end up landing him for a late-round pick in a trade.

The Redskins have maintained they are not the ones pushig for this Gerard Warren deal and don't have serious interest (of coiurse that's what they say about just about everything, so no surprise there).

Two sides to every story I suppose.

Either way, this guy could get dealt or released today and, particularly if he's cut, I still think he could land here.

BigSKINBauer 08-15-2007 12:01 PM

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

Get him.

Makes my madden team better. He is an 84. Golston is an underrated 74. With Warren we will have a top 10, like 7th, DT combo according to madden. We all know madden is all that matters in football land right now. :)

I really would like to see him here though. I don't know how bad he has to be at plugging the run for them to want to cut him. His rookie year he had 61 tackles. That is pretty beast at DT and he had 5 sacks. However he has fallen in all stats in recent years. Something is fishy though. It can't just be that.

Ditto. Even though its pre-season and our D-line may still need some bodies, we are dangerously close to being in big trouble on our O-line. Think about it, with Jason Campbell really just getting started, he's going to need all the protection he can get.

I say Get Warren if cheap or a 5th round pick.

RMSkins 08-16-2007 03:33 PM

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

The only way we should even consider getting Warren is if he is released, there is no way we should give Denver a 5th round pick when the guy is probably going to be released anyways. I am not a huge fan of bringing Warren in because he might end up starting next to Griffin. If that happens Golston, and Montgomery's development will be impeded upon, and Salave'a might be shown the door unless we carry five DT's.

Cowell 08-16-2007 04:36 PM

Re: Gerard Warren on the trading block!!

I could care less if Salave'a is shown the door, I don't think he has ever been a good consistent tackle for us.

Well I guess you must have forgotten when Salave'a started at DT for us in 2004, and 2005 when we had top 10 defenses. I would say that's pretty damn consistent. Big Joe is a high motor type of guy he never quits, or takes plays off like your boy Gerard Warren does. This year Joe is fully healthy, and I think he is going to play a big part of our defense this year rotating in at DT. Why do you think the Broncos are shopping him? Because the guy doesn't give 100% effort.

Well they said its cause of his contract its to much cap.And i just herd us and the colts are the top 2 guys right now every one else gave up.Also they said the colts might want Tank instead of Warren and they said if not tank then for sure the rookie DT they drafted.

So far where the most likely :soapbox: man i actually want him cause mongomery is injured right now and if Goldston is to than well depend on Joe and hes not consistent he doesn't have more than 2 sacks.I like the guy ya but hes not good enough and Griffin is a big reason why are D was top 10.
