Re: Ok, I don't care if its for depth...we cant have Stinkston!

Well, if we were looking at a way to have James Thrash not be the No. 2 receiver, just remember that the last time Todd Pinkston held such a role, Thrash was the No. 1 receiver.

Pinkston is garbage. Lloyd's probably better. TP won't make the cut.

I would rather they just sign Art Monk or Gark Clark.

Even if there's still a need there has to be someone better than Stinkston still out there.

why would they think there was a need? I'm not big on Mike Espy, but i would rather have him

Well here it is from the skins site and they signed a DT today.

Re: Ok, I don't care if its for depth...we cant have Stinkston!

This doesn't help Campbell if he has to keep adjusting to new WRs. I understand the whole preseason depth/camp fodder argument. But I'd rather they just focus on repitition of the plays and formations with El, Moss, Thrash, and Espy (and Lloyd when he's healthy which better be damn soon). Those are going to be your guys at the start of the season. And if they're not, and it's Bradford and Pinkston, then we have a problem.

I gotta say though Espy did not look good Saturday

i dont know why they would do that... but at least it wasnt FREDEX :tongue . I do remember Askew really being able to get after the QB though... so at least they added there. Im worried about LG right now the OL is only as good as its weakest link i know he sprained his ankle but why would they release Whittacker? I thought he was mauling people

This is great news! Now we can put Thrash as our #1 Receiver, and Pinkston at #2, and have the same WR combo the Eagles had when they lost all of those NFC Championship games.

It was a high ankle sprain, not just a simple ankle sprain.

Re: Ok, I don't care if its for depth...we cant have Stinkston!

Comcast reported that Loyd & ARE missed practice. Wade also. ARE has a quad injury I believe they said. Probably not serious, but this team is quick to sign the nearest scrub when someone gets nicked, e.g. Dee Brown.

I wonder how much of it is simply needing bodies -Gibbs always liked to keep a fat roster in camp - or them really trying to open some competition & see if some of these guys can step up. Probably some of both.
Did Bradford play saturday? I didn't see him or hear his name.

It probably is bodies, especially if ARE missed practice today as well. Bradford did play briefly.

Maybe this is to light a fire under ARE and Lloyd? I mean, how bad will they feel if they can't beat out Pinkston???? Ugh.

moss and cooley are good but ARE is ok but LLoyd stinks. Pinkston is horrible and thrash works hard but a number 3 at best.

Re: Ok, I don't care if its for depth...we cant have Stinkston!

It seems like every time someone gets a slight "hurt" we hire someone. Isn't Randell El hurt a little now after the game? .. Skins are so concerned with backing up.. maybe that is all it is??? Who knows. I think this needs to be looked at though. It messes up the chemistry on the team... to keep bringing people in when we have so much talent. Not good for the "brain" power for the veterans.

What ever happened to Antonio Bryant after he left SF last year? Is he on anybody's roster?
What ever happened to Antonio Bryant after he left SF last year? Is he on anybody's roster?
Nope, he is currently not in the league.

His last reported activity was back in May when he worked out for TB.

Edit. TAMPA – Troubled WR Antonio Bryant, ineligible to play until Week 3 of the 2007 season while serving an NFL suspension, worked out for the Buccaneers today at the team complex. Bryant, 26, caught 40 passes for 733 yards and three touchdowns with the 49ers last season but was released in March, only one season after signing a four-year deal that included $5.25 million in guaranteed money. The rangy 6-foot-2, 188-pound target has served half of a four-game suspension handed down Dec. 22 for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. He recently pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to a year’s probation for driving more than 100 mph Nov. 20 in San Mateo, Calif. Bryant previously played for Dallas and Cleveland and he has 250 receptions for 3,837 yards and 19 touchdowns in 77 NFL games. In San Francisco, Bryant reinforced his reputation as a big-play receiver until problems developed with Coach Mike Nolan, who was enraged when Bryant appeared late for a December meeting, prompting a heated discussion. With Joey Galloway turning 36 in November, the Bucs are looking for another speedy receiver who can stretch the field. Bryant’s average of 18.3 yards per catch in 2006 ranked second to Arizona’s Bryant Johnson among all players with at least 40 receptions. In each of his last two seasons, Bryant has registered 15 catches of at least 20 yards.
