Landry to Start Opening Day?
 

Nothing new really; it'll be nice to see him line up with Taylor on opening day.

I think the confidence that they are investing in him already says a lot about this ability. This criticism in the past has been their reluctance to play rookies or younger players, past the point when it made sense to get them out there. Landry must really be something special.

I think it's a combination of Landry being special, but more importantly Williams be more flexible with his approach in general.

This is all excellent to hear. Unless it was designed that way, the Titans didn't try or couldn't complete anything deep.

I would be very surprised if Landry doesn't start opening day because besides Sean Taylor no one can match his athleticism.

Landry is a beast and deserves to start. He doesn't miss a beat while he's on the field and he was almost always in the camera when we played the Titans. He's always in the play.

Landry definitely needs to be starting from day one to build that chemistry with Sean Taylor. Pierson Prioleau is a solid safety, and it was a real shame to see what happened to him last year, but there is no doubt in my mind that LaRon Landry is better than Prioleau.

Honestly in a couple years I wouldn't be surprised if Landry churns out better stats than what Sean Taylor put out.

I'm glad to see that Landry is rising up the ranks already. I can't remember the last time a rookie was ready to be on the first team this early.

Even if he doesn't technically start he will still be on the field more than anyone else. They might just keep him out the first series because that is the way GW is. However, i do think he will start and it isn't all that big of a deal. Just because Taylor didn't start doesn't mean he wasn't the best. We just need Laron badly right now and it wouldn't make sense for Prioleau to be playing longer than him.

Anyways Laron has been the first string player for a few weeks on the skins depth chart.

Good to hear, I'm really getting wound up waiting for week 1, and this is just getting me more pumped. I'll probably have a stroke during opening kickoff.

Landry came out of college very NFL ready after being a 4 year starter at LSU.

I definitely think he's more polished than Taylor was coming out.

Yes. The defense he played in at LSU is the closest thing to an NFL defense at the college level. I would put UGA in a similar class as far as the level of their defensive play, although LSU is more pressure based and Georgia plays more coverage. Look at Golston. A worker bee at Georgia who got no national pub but played well as a rookie and continues to impress. Landry is definitely RFPT.

I was really hoping we'd get a DE with our first pick, but there wasn't any in the draft you could justify taking with the #6 pick the way you can justify taking Landry.

He, as of now at least, is the real deal.

so where did he say that agian??? yeah you didnt read it correctly and you just assumed thats what he meant.....he never said anything remotely close to no rookie will ever start for our team because gibbs is not a retard.

another thing i would like to add to this conversation about dline and stuff, if at 6 your number one target on the dline isnt there do you still go dline???? i dont believe so, i still think landry was thier number 1 guy and should have been.....but if you go dline are you really gonna take number 2 dline man over number 1 guy in the entire draft. i dont no matter how bad my line is.
