Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
K guys i saw him this year for the past 2 weeks he didn't let go of a big play and his tackle ability in stopping the run is impressive so far.I guess the teaching of Green and Saunders really helped since i have a good felling he'll be having 8 INT this year. And when he does Broncos would stop saying we got rubbed and With Smoot to for sure start next year (OR maybe this year if Rogers sucks)than will be set up.Of course drafting a CB in the 3rd or 4th would be smart for next year.
But Rogers would be having his best CB year this year. Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
I think Rogers can be a solid #2. They still have him 12 yards off the line of scrimage sometimes, though. I don't get that. Speaking of solid #2s...
Also, the teaching of Green and Saunders? I don't get that part. I haven't been rubbed either so, yes, the Broncos should stop saying that. I think what you mean is that, Carlos is serviceable if the rest of the defense plays well. He's a role player. I guess, I would be disappinted but, CBs are so hit and miss. Not everyone will be a HOFer. We hit with Green and Bailey, missed with Tom Carter, Darrel Pounds, and now Carlos Rogers. Of those three I would say Carlos has the potential to be the least disappointing. He does tackle well. He really just needs to catch the ball. And cover better. That's all. |

Darrel Green and Deion Sanders. I thought you meant Al Saunders. I was all like, does Greg Williams know about this? |

Oppps lol But it is Deion. |
Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
I would be interested to see any links to sites or articles showing that Green and Sanders trained Carlos.

Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
I'd like to think he's going to be great but he doesn't seem to have 'it' that the greats have.. As soon as you saw Champ, you knew he had 'it'. Deion had 'it', Darrell Green had 'it'. Ed Reed has 'it', Laron Landry has 'it'.
There's an intangible, a swagger, a tendency to be in the right spot and make the right play.. Him dropping 6 interceptions last year means he's mostly in the right spot but the difference between good and great is making those plays. The dropped INT against Seattle in the playoffs in '05 is a play that a great player turns into a game changing TD, a good player breaks up the play and it's 2nd down.. I think he will be a solid #2, giving up as many plays as he makes but he will never achieve greatness. I truly hope that I am wrong. |
Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
I'm not sure that Rogers ever actually trained with DG and Deion. I think that Rogers will be a very good CB. Not sure about great though. From what I've seen, he seems to play a lot better when Springs is on the field with him. But he's not the same player when lined up across the likes of a Harris or Wright.
Springs, on the other hand, doesn't seem to miss a beat (when healthy) no matter who he's lined up across. That's what, to me, separates the great from the very good |
Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
They need to rub that stick um stuff all over his hands and arms before every game because the dude is unable to catch a football. I really hope he worked on that this offseason because he could turn out to be a very good player.

to whoever said this is the best skins highlight video, with all due respect:
This carlos rogers video is like maid in manhattan compared to sean taylor videos (season 1 - scar face, season 2, the godfather) |

Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
I don't think Rogers will ever be GREAT for us, but I think he will be a pretty good #2 for us for years to come. I just don't think that Rogers is #1 CB material.

Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
The answer is, yes he will.
Rogers will be beast this year! And since a certain someone is gone, I win my bet by default! |
Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
Isn't Roger a our Outside Line Backer?
And I thought people usually called him Rocky. |
The answer is, yes he will.

I think he just had some trouble adjusting to they way Williams wants his CB's to play. He's very good against the run and, off the top of my head, I can't think of any pure CB that lays the lumber like he can. If he just focus' on catching some of those INT's this season, everyone around here will be singing a different tune. |
Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
solid #2 in all likelyhood. i just don't see him turning into a shutdown corner playing 12 yards off the line.

Lol......

Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
My problem with Rogers is incosistency. I think he needs to be a physical corner, but he doesn't do it. He lines up way off the ball, whether it's scheme or not, it's not working for him. I wish he would hold on to more of the picks too, but if he did, that wouldn't take away from him getting torched. He gets beat deep too much for my liking. If he can somehow rein that in, I think he'll be very good. The guy seems to me like he has all the ability in the world at the CB position, he just hasn't reached his potential yet. So, in short: Yes, he will be a great corner for the Skins. However, it certainly hasn't happened yet, but I think he could put it all together this year.

Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
Rogers is still mediocre at best until he proves otherwise. In my opinion, when he is ON he is an above average #2 CB in this league. When he is in a rut though, i think he would struggle to make many teams' #3 spot. I agree with whoever said that he looks much better with Springs on the field. However, springs is likely going to be gone after this year and we are going to need a #1 CB and if the theory that Rogers can only play well with springs on the field is correct, we are going to need a #2 CB too. Hopefully smoot can step it up and we can draft somebody.

Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
If he could just catch the balls that hit his hands he would be really good! I think Rogers is ready to step up this year getting Smoot back is going to help his confidence grow a lot.

Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
I don't know how we're defining great here, but if he caught most of the INT's he dropped last year he could have drawn pro-bowl consideration. He's a physical corner who tackles very well, but I worry about him in man coverage. I think if he's going to have a breakout here, this season is the perfect time. He's got so much more help back there this year.
I was looking at the schools our top 5 d-backs went to: Auburn The U Miss St Ohio St LSU. Three SEC schools, The U, and Ohio St. Not bad. |
Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
carlos's best attribute is his tackling. so far he hasnt proven he can cover a fucking dead body. i bet he would give a guy in a wheel chair a 10 yard cushion. i hope he plays better than that highlight film had, half those plays where questionable PI's. this guy has a freaking 5 game audition this year and if he conisistantly gets thrown at and beat like his first two years then i hope gwill sits his ass because thats what he deserves. now with all that being said i really like the way carlos looks so far, he looks more confident and i hope that he lives up to that 9th overall draft pick that we took him with. so i am rooting for him but i have a short leash and all of us should including GWILL

Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
This will be the season Carlos will show where he is headed career wise. I think he will be a solid guy for us, but not like Champ or even Smooty I. If he does turn out to be like Smoot I we will rock the house now that Landry is on board.
|
Re: Serious Question:Well Roger Be a Great CB for us?..
I think Carlos Rogers has shown some significant improvement so far this year.
That is a good sign...i was expecting Smoot to try to steal his job...so far....it aint even close. We have to hope Rogers continues to improve. He seems that he will be solid so far |
