Re: Taylor Jacobs
I think somebody posted this recently, might have been me. Can't recall.
But yeah I definitely feel for him. He's not a bad guy, was never a problem here. Except he just couldn't stay healthy |

I'm kind of surprised he hasn't turned into more of a pro player. He was Rex Grossman's go to guy for a while there, and was the 33rd overall pick the year he came out. Hopefully he can pair with Darrell Jackson, another Gator, and do some good in SF. All the best TJ... |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
i knew he would make that team when we traded him for POS rumph.
GREAT TRADE |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
Couple of comments here. First, on the personal side, as a father of a 10-month old, I can't possibly imagine the magnitude of grief and sadness he must have felt when he lost his baby to SIDS. Very tragic.
He was a pretty likeable guy. But my football comment... Taylor Jacobs always showed well in training camps and practices around here. The trouble is he has never translated that solid play on gameday. He's a great practice player, so until he proves me wrong, I can't think of him as anything more than that. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
i don't think anyone around here personally attacked him. it was all about his ability. as i used to say, a great 3:00 player. always a stud in practice, never showed up for the games

In somewhat related news, Rod Gardner was released today

From where? Call me crazy...but I thought he could have been a good compiment to Moss when we had Jimmy Freaking Harris at the end of 05' |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
Cut by the Chiefs

Re: Taylor Jacobs
"I think the most of coach (Joe) Gibbs as a guy," Jacobs said. "I can't say enough good things about him. But really, in Washington, I came in and they already had a lot of receivers, so I slipped under the radar and got lost in the shuffle."
I would really like to know who these receivers were because outside of Moss, we had nobody. Jacobs started a couple games in '05 and was basically worthless. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
I can't imagine anything more heartbreaking. Good luck to him.
When he was here he never played with confidence. He always looked a little lost. Maybe he will grow into the game. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
Jacobs =Bum,
But you guys think the skins should get back Gardner? maybe he'll turn out good and a good 4th string WR lol Jk. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
On Gardner, there's definitely a reason he was sent packing from Washington, sent packing from Green Bay, and now sent packing from the Chiefs. The guy stinks, plain and simple. He's not even an upgrade over Todd Pinkston at this point.

I dont think we need either, but i really hate Todd Pinkston. Plus if we "got" Gardner back I know of some jerseys that could come back in use, kinda of. |

If anyone is watching the HBO series Hard Knocks you can see how bad the Cheifs WR's are. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
This is the only time of year you ever hear about Taylor Jacobs.

Rod Gardner, that name brings back memories. Rod fell off the face of the planet after he left the Skins. As for Jacobs I don't think he is going to start with the Niners, San Fran already has Jackson, Battle, And Lelie, I see Jacobs as more of a 4th WR in their system. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
My man David Patten is having a pretty good preseason as well, I hope things turn out well for him in New Orleans. Brees is tearing it up as well. They look fierce

Mike Nolan has openly said TJ is the #3 right now. As former Gator and Skin, I hope he tears it up. |

Patten is an excellent fit in that offense. He will be a favorite target for Brees, IMO. |

It's a damn shame that we couldn't get more use out of Patten, but I wish him well. Brees has a soft spot for short players. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
I bashed this guy in the Wash Post forum for years. Never heard of a guy that had an opposing player accidently land on him after a play keeping him out for an entire season with an ab injury. After that I knew we were screwed with a MR Glass type. I hope he has overcome his injury jinx. He had so much potential of being a decent pro with us but always seemed to miss out with sort of lame ass injuries. Just was another Spurrier Gator that didn't pan out for us.
