KENDALL to the Redskins (confirmed)
Just an FYI guys that there's a rumor in the office today that Pete Kendall is heading to the Redskins today for a 5th round pick.
When I get some word either way, I'll let you know |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
If this is true, he's unhappy in NY I do believe. A quality guard would be a welcome addition to the team. Could possibly fill a hole for us.

Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
I would love that. This would be a trade that the Redskins I think would have stole him from them.
|
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
We must keep every single draft pick for next season!
Ok, J/K, I think this would be a great move for us. I don't trust Wade to fill the LG position at all. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
SS has some pretty good connections and honestly I'd be all for it. Didn't we get a 5th for Arch? Or was it a 6th?
|
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
We got a 6th for Arch. And TMC when did your name change from DefAcator to DefEcator
|
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
I'd take that. It would definitely shore up the LG issue.
|
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
I like the move as long as it is only a 5th rounder. We got a sith for Arch and used it on HB Blades.
|
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
Good move.
Can't wait to see if it happens. What I don't want us to do is give him a big contract. 2 years or whatever of Kendall is a good price for a 4th round pick. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
the sixth we got for arch we used on Jordan Palmer. Our original sixth we got HB blades.

LOL But this move would give us unbelivable depth on our O-line and it would allow Wade to go back to Tackle until Samuels is back to 100 percent. |

KENDALL SENT TO 'SKINS A league source tells us that the Jets have sent guard Pete Kendall to the Washington Redskins. It is believed that Washington sent a fourth-round pick to the Jets in exchange. Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News reported on Thursday that a deal to an unnamed team was close. Our source says that a deal to D.C. is done. Cimini also reports that Kendall will get, in his new NFL city, the $1 million raise that he craved for the coming year, pushing his salary from $1.7 million to $2.7 million. It had become increasingly clear that a divorce was needed. Cimini devoted a recent item to Kendall's history of using painkillers to allow himself to play. Though Kendall stopped short of saying that he wouldn't continue to use medications in order to be able to suit up and perform, a source with knowledge of the situation made it clear to us that Kendall would not be using any pain medication if the team didn't adjust his contract. The root of the problem, as we understand it, is that when Kendall restructured his deal in 2006 at the team's request, the team verbally promised to re-adjust the deal if he performed well. Kendall's perspective was that he fulfilled his end of it, and then the Jets reneged on a commitment that necessarily was unenforceable. Kendal and the team traded barbs in training camp, with Kendall being relegated to the second team and assigned initially to the rookie dorm. Kendall loudly complained, piping down only when it seemed that the organization was getting ready to suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team. Last week, the Jets had him play center in a preseason game, a position that he strongly dislikes. There were suspicions that two bad snaps in the game were influenced, consciously or otherwise, by Kendall's unhappiness. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
Who has the 411 on Kendall....don't know much.
Who has the 411 on Kendall....don't know much.
Well, last year the Jets had great success running between both Guard/Tackle holes, but pretty limited success running on either side of the center.
So that doesn't tell you much. I guess it suggests that Kendall is not a weak link in the running game, but isn't a great strength either. |

HAHA. Honestly, it's been like this since April Fool's 2006. Can't believe you didn't notice. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
It's funny because as I was going to sleep last night I was thinking I could seriously see the Skins making a move this week for a LG. This is one rumor I hope is true.

Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
2006 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 70 | Key Alert: BD Comment: Kendall is a smart, tough blue-collar veteran. He has good position versatility and in 2005 played both guard and center. He can handle calls and adjustments on the line. He has a good frame and long arms. He has above-average initial quickness into blocking patterns. He understands power angles and position. His arms and decent hands give him some ability to recover in pass protection. He plays with good awareness when helping out against inside games. But Kendall lacks bulk, flexibility and range. He doesn't bend well and struggles to maintain his pad level at the point of attack. He stops his feet on contact and spends too much time on the ground. He doesn't adjust well off the track on drive blocks and struggles to get position on backside cutoffs. He isn't very smooth. He has marginal balance and body control on pulls. He struggles to bend and slide his feet off short pass sets. He has trouble maintaining pocket depth. |

Wow you mean 2007 cause I wasnt here in 2006. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
I'm taking a wait and see on this one.
|
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
This would certainly make me feel more comfortable about our entire OL. Not because Kendall is some kinda monster, but because he's at least serviceable at guard, and we'd have Wade for backup at tackle.

Hmmm... I've had it for quite some time, don't know how long. On topic however, after seeing Pucillo and Wade get blown up, I'm with GTripp in not wanting to sign him to a long-term contract. I REALLY want a high pick used on a guard or tackle next year. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
From a salary cap standpoint, the Lemar Marshall move now makes all the sense in the world. Cutting Marshall and signing Godfrey cleared approximately $1 million in cap space. I'd be shocked if the Marshall cut wasn't partially driven by the need to clear space for Kendall's $2.7 million hit this season.
To me, the pieces of the puzzle all fit now. The 'Skins clearly have been working behind the scenes to acquire an answer at LG. They needed to clear the cap space, the Marshall move allowed them to fit Kendall under the cap and still maintain enough space to extend Cooley this year if they wish. It may be just a rumor at this point, but I think the salary cap moves of late speak to this being a 100% done deal. I'd take it to the bank, Kendall is a 'Skin. Great series of moves IMO. Way to go FO. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
Right now one report says 4th pick, and SS is saying a 6th rounder. It would be nice to hear that it is a 6th rounder.
|
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
Can we FINALLY show some love to Pro Football Talk, I mean they were dead on with releasing Marshall and now Kendall. Where's the love man? By the way, I don't like it for a 4th rounder, but that's just my thought.

Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
If this is true for a 5th I think it is a great move. We don't have a 4th so it can't be for a 4th unless 2009? Talk about Depth everywhere Samuels-Heyer, Kendall-Pucillo, Rabach-Pucillo, Thomas-(the guy from Princeton, his name escapes me), Jansen-Wade.

Just to give an Idea where Scouts Inc ranks him for 2007:

I'd be comfortable with a 4th rounder, to be honest. Because right now, our line is a friggin disaster. This would allow us to move Wade back to tackle (and hey, possibly to push Jansen for a starting role at RT? just throwin that out there) I don't view this as a panic move like the Duckett deal was. Our LG spot really is a disaster, we don't have a Ladell Betts waiting in the wings on the O-Line. |

I think I said 5th. I've heard both scenarios, a 4th round pick or a 5th round pick. As for PFT, it's not like they broke the Marshall story. All they did was repeat what NFL Network had reported. PFT is a good place to find nearly every rumor out there. But they don't do that great a job of filtering through those rumors. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
I'm happy giving up anything rounds 4-6 right now. I'm not going to nitpick.

Nobody significant. The Marshall move cleared all the space we'd need to take on Kendall. Of course acquiring Kendall means we have to drop one player to stay at the roster max. But that will likely be some no-name dipshit who has no shot at making the team. At this point, after the Marshall move, the salary cap is not an obstacle to adding Kendall. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
Anybody know off hand what picks we have next year if we give up this fourth or fifth?

I think it is right that they are making a move, but I just don't know too much about Kendall I guess. Also it is interesting that Gibbs was vouching for the O-line a couple days ago, saying that Heyer has allowed no sacks, and now runs to get some help on the Oline. Another funny point about that no sacks stat, is that on the play that JC got hurt Heyer didnt give up a sack, but he still let the lineman blow by him and get to JC right as the ball was released. It would be interesting to see how many QB pressures and hits have come from the Oline. |

Put as much stock as you want into that. Troy Aikman could not stop talking about how good a Guard he is and how the Jets would not be stupid enough to get rid of him during the preseason game. |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
In addition, if you analyze the comments of Gibbs and Bugel recently, they have gone out of their way to defend the play of Stephon Heyer. They indicate that he was not responsible for the hit on Campbell's knee.
That tells me that they're pinning that play on the LG. Heisel slipped in between Heyer and Pucillo, but you didn't hear Gibbs or Bugel defending Pucillo at all. I think they feel it was Pucillo's fault. And you know that hit to Campbell scared the living hell out of them. I'll bet the decision to acquire an LG was made right after that hit. They then started calling around, heard about Kendall, heard what he wanted money-wise, cleared the space by cutting Marshall, and made the trade. |

Well, I don't get it because if it was about clearing salary space, how come we paid Godfrey 300K more than Marshall? What am I missing here? |
Re: THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR: KENDALL to the Redskins
I think, that while Godfrey is older, he's better than Marshall.
