Vick suspended indefinitely

Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Michael Vick on Friday that he is suspended indefinitely without pay from the National Football League, effective immediately.
Following are excerpts from Commissioner Goodell’s letter to Vick:

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

The rumor had been that Vick wasn't going to admit to killing dogs or gambling, now that he did it'll be very tough for him to make a comeback. Good riddance.

if het gets a short prison sentence,he'll play in canada a few years!

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

Well there is step one. I guess they will revist this once he is out of prison?

Suspending him indefinatley just gets the Falcons out of not having to pay him for the foreseeable future. At what point do they let him go? It will wreak havoc of thier cap considering he still has 7 yrs 117 mil left on his contract.

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

the falcons can reclaim his signing bonus, or large chunks of it now with that ruling, meaning they'll have a lot of cap room going forward.

he'll be the star in the new league UFL or somethign but I don't he'll ever play for the NFL again

Redskins 08-24-2007 07:12 PM

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

Actually, he'll probably never play again - period. He's the new Pete Rose for the NFL, and when he finally gets out of jail....he'll probably be on probation. Translation - he can't leave the state (usually) let alone the US. So, playing in Canada is out too. Look at it this way, he can now focus 100% of his efforts on obtaining that ever allusive Citizen of the Year award, or at least open his own personal woodshop to figure out how to design a better system of transporting pot on airplanes. Loser.

Nothing to comment on. I just did not like the Redskins to Cowboys ratio in this thread.:httr:

Not likely he'll play in Canada either. He probably will not even be allowed to enter Canada with a felony record.

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

But you will notice the wording, he is suspended INDEFINITELY, and not a LIFETIME suspension or ban.

That word "indefinitely" means that he can ask for re-admission at a later date after he sentence is fulfilled. Whereas a LIFETIME ban or suspension means he cannot ever return. Goodell left the door open.

I bet we will see Vick trying to make it back to the NFL next year. If not certainly the following year.

Darrell_Green_28 08-24-2007 10:17 PM

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

But then doesnt that leave it open for the Commish to say at anytime that the suspension has been changed to a lifetime ban? which i for one would hope he never plays a snap again in any league. If i saw right CFL will not have him either

I agree. I don't believe we have seen the last of Michael Vick. I am a huge VA Tech fan, but I am also a dog lover. I cannot stand the fact that someone would mistreat animals the way Vick has. But, with all of that said, he will try to enter the NFL again, but regardless, his NFL career is ruined.

I wonder how much money he has and will end up with after paying legal fees.
Has he already made enough money to retire to South America and go into dog fighting full time.

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

made?? wont he have to pay most of that back if Atlanta chooses to make him? so i wouldnt say he has enough to retire, with what he will owe in fines, court cost, attorney fees and payback to the falcons. probably not nearly as much as you think

Vick has made something like 80 million in past salary from the Falcons as well as endorsements. Have you heard of a company named Nike?????? This is untouchable money already earned having nothing to do with his current football contract that will be voided. I'm sure he is going to have a massive money crisis?

I don't know how much money he has now, but I know he's losing over 80 million dollars with his NFL contract and no tellings how much money in endorsements.
If he's smart at all, he would've put a couple million back for tough times, but something tells me that probably isn't the case.

what the guy did what awful.there is no excuse for his actions especially when you look at what he has lost now.but i have to say, what he did was nowhere nearly as bad as what lindsey lohan, paris hilton, nicole richie, and the guy from prison break did by driving drunk though!nicole richie did 82 mns in jail
yesterday, and lohan got 1 day for 2 duis!that is just completley fucked up no matter how you look at it.and the guy from prison break crashed and killed a 17 year old passenger, and injured 3 other kids and all he got was public service and rehab.what lessons can they learn from that other than if you have money and are popular you can get by with anything?82 minutes and 1 day in jail in a cell by yourself do'nt teach you shit, and how often have you heard of anybody trying to take cocaine into a jail in a pants pocket and not get charged?he deserves punishment no doubt, but they deserve a lot more than he does!if any of us got caught dui 2 times in 2 months we'd be thrown under the GD jail!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

There is a great deal of speculation about if/when Vick will be allowed to return to the NFL. Depending on what he will have too/or already has told authorities about what he really knows, he may become a prime candidate for the WPP. Even a short stay in a Federal Correction Facility may not be a safe haven. Was DMX a coincidence?

Re: Vick suspended indefinitely

Vick will be back at some point, if he was gone for good Goodell would have made it a lifetime suspension. All you have to look is the Lindsay Lohann crap. That girl needs to be thrown in the slammer, but now the media is saying blame her mom when Lindsay is the one doing the drugs. She does one day in jail for drug possesion. I guess celebrities can do what ever they want and get the MSM to vouch(make excuses) for them. It is OK for some Hollywood slut to freebase cocaine, but some non celebrity will do hard time. What a message!!!!!! Because of this leniency on celebrities that break the law, you will definitely see Vick back in a few seasons. I hope I am wrong, but when all these writers came out after the plea saying he shouldn't get a lot of time or get banned you know the "fix" is in. He will come out after a year or two in jail, all will be forgiven, etc.

Untouchable if he still has as much as you think. he probably wasted the money away on big fancy cars and bling bling crap. Doesnt matter now he is damaged goods i wish they would throw him in a ring and let him get chewed up and see how it feels.

what they ought to do is put him at the busiest most unclean dog kennel in virginia, and make him feed, bathe, and take care of the dogs, and then sweep sweep dogshit and dog piss as an unpaid volunteer for
a few years.maybe he and dmx can work out something and work together!

Isn't the guy from Prison Break (Lane Garrison) still awaiting his sentence

For years there's been all this speculation that the Falcons should maybe trade Vick and get a bunch of players and picks in return. And now all this has happened.

Who would have ever thought this is how Vick's career in a Falcons uniform would come to an end.

Looks like he just started a 90 day diagnostic stay, which I'm sure will lead to more prison time
