Loved Joe T. when he was a player but he is so annoying and stupid as a commentator. I wish I could watch the game on Comcast HD and listen to it somewhere else.

yeah I'm not a fan of Joey T either. He's too much of a homer towards the Skins, like honestly you never really hear him criticize the Skins too much.

There's a reason they booted him from MNF. Loved him as a Redskin, but he's laughable as a broadcaster.

Roger that. I even have an autographed Joe T. jersey framed in my tv room but as a broadcaster he just sounds fake and like he doesn't know what he is talking about. He should open a restaurant and get out of the broadcasting biz.

I have never been a big fan of Joey T as a broadcaster. Although I rooted for him to suceed. But it is definately not his calling.

JT is the type of guy that will ask a rhetorical question and then answer it for you. He loves to soak up his own company. If he wasn't a skin, I would hate him.

Yeah, he's awful. Redskins TV productions I hate in general. Mainly because I hate how they dont keep down and distance on the screen at all times.

YES. The real culprits here are the buffoons running the telecast for Comcast or the Redskins Network, or whoever they are.

They didn't have the down and distance, Mike Patrick never mentioned it, plus, the game clock wasn't on the screen until the 2 min. warning in the 2nd quarter.

They know how to put Papa John's Pizza up there though.

Those people truly are incompetent.

I think we are Fortunate that Joe is doing our games. He has always been a little irritating, but he is a Redskins great. I don't like all the criticism. He may be suffering from some sort of brain issue from playing football. I still say we are lucky to have a guy that played for us and reached the top of the commentator chain. He was the Monday night guy for God sakes. He is commentating for comcast now. Give him a break. He is not doing it for the money, he loves the skins like we do.

Here on Ocean City the game was on MASN, so I got the Ravens feed. Daryl Johnston and another guy. They were actually really good.

The no down and distance thing drives me insane.

I like Joey T. in the booth though. Yeah he's annoying at times but overall he's a good color guy IMO. There are certainly those that are much worse.

That broadcast had me talking to the screen last night. It's amateur hour all the way. And I swear there are more commercial breaks in these games than at the Super Bowl. If it weren't for the ads they could have played most of the game. And when they finally came back from commercial there's Joey T holding a pizza box like a big dope. I need the regular season to start post haste. I'm actually looking forward Fox's C-Team of Sam Rosen/Kenny Albert and whoever. Give me Jerry Glanville at this point. I hate to admit it but I watched the abbreviated second half on MASN with Dick Stockton and Moose Johnston.

Daryl Johnston is very good. As is Troy Aikman. It's aggravating that two Cowboys have turned into such great broadcasters. For my money it doesn't get any better than Troy Aikman and Joe Buck, although I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy Jaworski's outstanding film breakdown on MNF.

JT isn't bad IMO. He makes mistakes now and then but his football knowledge is pretty good IMO.

You know what I hate is the other 31 teams braodcasters. Watching games on NFL network I get to hear all 31 other teams broadcasters.
I also don't like listening to the other teams annoucers during our games. They give you a hlf with our guys and a half with the others. It really sucks.

I agree that not having down and distance on display is AWFUL, plus did anyone else notice the friggin game clock wasn't up for most of the first half?? They need to tighten up.

theismann has been what he always have,consistent!not too good,not to bad.
i like him better than collingsworth,bryant gumbel,bill maas,and baldinger!
never thought i'd give these guys praise,but imho aikmann and sims are the two best announcers in the league now.

But friggin Larry Michaels is horrid. Two years ago we were playing Dallas on MNF and I was in my car.

Idiot never announces down and distance for at least 15 minutes of air time!

Not how far they got on the last play, just "a nice run up the middle".

I emailed Redskins the next day and he emailed me back, personally, all defensive.

Said he Always announce D&D on every play.

Next sunday, in car again.

Same thing.

Amateur hour.

Exactly. Give Joe some credit. You can point to his quick boot from MNF, but consider that he did Sunday Night Football for ESPN for YEARS, and the network was apparently satisfied with his work during that time period, or at least did not think he stood out for his incompetence. And to think that between Tirico, Kornheiser and Joe, it was JOE that got the boot?! What?! Tirico is a creep, (see deadspin.com for stories, which I can't link to b/c I don't have enough posts yet), Kornheiser is a blowhard, and Joe is the guy they fired. Go figure.

okay i searched/found this old thread instead of starting a new "what do y'all think of JoeyT" thread.

even though he won a SB as a redskin, i hate him. he sucks and he loves to hear himself talk. okay fine, most broadcasters can be chatterboxes, it's their job to fill time by talking. but joe just comes off as a know-it-all jerk who doesn't hesitate to take cheapshots and/or INJECT HIMSELF INTO THE STORY, which is the worst. "when i played..." "well what WE used to do..." "when i played for joe gibbs..."
that's fine occasionally in very specific situations.... but even the hated cowboys (Djohnston and Troy) rarely/never do it. moose is much better than troy, but neither brings up their glory days.

here's what reminded me:

i watched that 30 for 30 doc about Ricky last night. great stuff. he's out there, but i like him and glad he's done well.

but how 'bout Joe Theismann's over-the-top comments about Ricky Williams? i know the guy is kooky and made some stupid decisions as far as failing multiple drug tests... but JoeyT (in footage from when ricky played in canada) was like THIS GUY IS A DESPICABLE HUMAN BEING AND I"M ASHAMED TO BE IN THE SAME SENTENCE WITH HIM AS FOOTBALL PLAYER AND A TORONTO ARGONAUT" and all this stuff. just ridiculous blowhard hyperbole from up on some high horse. shut the fuck up already. i'd like Lawrence Taylor to go rip his fuckin voicebox out (speaking of ridiculous hyperbole).

I am a big JoeT fan. My favorite player growing up. I may just be biased but I like listening to him on games also. Anyone on TV & radio as much as Joe is bound to have plenty of people who like and hate him.
