McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
They lead the team with 24 tackles, 12 a piece!!!!
That is soooo important for our defense. Anyone that complained that Taylor and Landry wernt involved much need to rethink that. Our linebackers lead the team in tackles, which means all the plays were near the line of scrimage not in the secondary. Our defense didnt give up big plays and those two boys shut down the center of the field! This is a nice change of pace, if you guys remember AA lead our team in tackles, along with Sean Taylor, for most of the year last year... Those arent the two positions you want making most of yoru tackles. |
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Yes yes yes. Agree completely
|
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Yeah, McIntosh is a madman. The thing is, the few chances he got to play last season, he showed flashes of that ability. I don't understand the reasoning for basically sitting him for his rookie season. Like it would've hurt the 31st ranked defense.

Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Not to mention a sack and forced fumble by Rocky
|
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Rocky certainly moves to the ball. It appears we still are VERY soft in the middle of the field about 10-15 yards. Skins will need to work on that or it could be costly down the road.

Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Rocky is the real freaking deal.
I want to hear from some of the Rocky haters. How ya like him now?! :) |
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Fletcher is the "Terminator". He destroyed their running backs and acted like he was tying his shoes.

Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Rocky will be a star in our scheme, with our secondary playing good, we should be able to send him and others alot more on blitzes!
|
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
They need to work on their coverage skills a bit but they were friggin beasts in run D. I don't like how easy Trent Green was completing passes 10-15 yards downfield. Overall though they were probably the best players on D today.

Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
they fought thier guts out
lmao |
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
I love the way fletcher works...he goes about his business in silence, and he does a GREAT job. He could easily be the best MLB we've had in many a year!
|
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Our defense played solid, and they didn't have to get too cute with their schemes. Did we really have two sacks?
|
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
i was playing madden with my son on Saturday night. and McIntosh is a monster in that game. can anyone explain why he couldn't step on the field last season? especially considering how horrible we were on defense

Yep. One by Carter and then another by McIntosh. |

Thanks jbcrj14.

Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
You know what you are going to get out of LF, 10 tackles a game. Rocky has been so impressive this preseason and the 1st game. He is showing why we traded up to get him.
The reason why we didn't see ST and Landry????...They didn't throw any where down the field and our Dline and backers made some tackles yesterday. Great day on defense. |
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Is anyone else worried by the short passing defense though? While we shut down most deep and intermediate routes, we got eaten up underneath.
I guess that's good if we put up more points. |

I guess that's good if we put up more points.
That's my only real concern with the defense. The middle 10-15 yard stuff is wide open, and Jason Witten(among others) lives there. I still think that it's more Williams scheme(along with the soft corner coverage) than the actual players, but that needs to be fixed ASAP. |
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
I think against a team like Dallas and NYG that has a dominant TE we will have to mix it up and put either ST or LL on them to keep them in check. Doing this will make the corners vunerable on the edges, but its a chance I think we will have to take.
Witten just ate up the middle of the field last night in 10-15 yard chunks. |
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!

Carter almost had two but got shoved past Trent Green when he was reaching for him. He definitely looked good yesterday. Hopefully, our front four pass rush will continue to improve. It's hard to tell since Miami's o-line is so weak. |
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
I still think we are weak with the pass rush in the middle and I saw LL blitz once or twice yesterday and get eaten up. Hopefully it will improve over the coming weeks.
|
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Honestly, there weren't a lot of blitzes. It seemed like GW was depending mainly on our front four and they provided a decent amount of pressure.

I guess that's good if we put up more points.
Well, the one or two times Green did go deep, ST was (again...) out of position, and Chambers was well behind the defense. Luckily, he's Chris Chambers and will drop anything he can get his hands on. Still, there was not much to like about the pass D yesterday, IMO. Obviously, the scheme wants someone else besides the DBs to be responsible for the hook/curl zone. This year, we just may have the LBs to do that. Rocky Mac and Washington are both quick enough to at least make the throw into the flat/curl zone a difficult one, wheras last year, Holdman and Marshall would just allow an easy throw. I think we improve against that short passing game this year. The deep....eh, lets just say the early returns (sample size=2) aren't good at all. |

We could have (and should have) gotten Green about 2-3 more times than we did. Just didn't finish.
We don't have a whole lot longer to improve. If we don't finish the play against McNabb, we will be looking at a 14 point deficit at half. |
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
wheres espn bitching about us taking rocky now? he played great at the end of the season last year, and looked awesome today. forced fumble as well!
|
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
The run game defense was amazing...the pass game had some mental lapses but Mcintosh really stood out as the defensive MVP. He was flying all over the place and now i can really see why Lemar Marshall was cut.
|
Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
Fletcher makes everyone else in this D better, IMO. A great pickup. And ROcky is flourishing now.
The intermediate pass is a worry, but there's going to be soft spots in our cover-3 at times. Hopefully, we'll tighten up as things progress. |

Re: McIntosh and Fletcher!!!
It's not a big concern to me if our defensive line is a bunch of stat whores. If they can plug up that offensive line and let our linebackers in there that is just fine if not better with me.
He was a master. I was at the game and kept an eye (both, actually) on him on most Defensive plays. He managed the D-line masterfully: He'd come up on the linesman after reading the offense, get them to shift one or two steps to the right or left as he saw it. Invariably, he was right on the money. He's a great leader out there. HELLUVA get, this one. Call him the Detective (Like Sherlock Holmes-London-get it?). J-Dawg |

I am just stating that the D-line did not have a lot of tackles. I wasn't saying that's a bad thing. |
