Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
This doesn't have much to do with Ferguson specifically, but as far as injuries; it seems like people are dropping like flies everywhere. I know a lot of people get injured in week one, since it's the first real contact for a lot of them, but look at the friggin Giants injuries. Jansen's gone for the season, and it seems like just about every team has lost at least one key starter at this point.

Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
It's big news for them. Their one true nose tackle which makes a big difference in their system. I really think their defense is going to be a shell this year.

Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
Both of those defenses looked pathetic yesterday. I'd be shocked if either of these teams racked up more than 6 wins.

Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
I want to see the Cowboys against Miami next week before I make my final judgment.

I kept being told "Dallas looks good rob... what are you going to do about that!!?!" Yeah... right. Dallas looked good against a horrible defense. It's week one, and that was some horrible D on both sides of the ball. There were injuries everywhere too. The only thing that impressed me from that game was Eli Manning |

The only thing that impressed me from that game was Eli Manning
A lot of people see Manning as a bust because they expected him to be Peyton. Just because hes not ever going to be that good doesn't mean hes not capable of his share of these types of performances for the rest of his career. The Giants passing game is going to be pretty solid this year. Its safe to say their offense will be better than last year. But my god, with that defense there, there isn't anything for us to worry about. Romo isn't even that good. His first option was open every time he dropped back yesterday. |
Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
all those injuries in that game. was it that hard hitting? or were they just like fluke type of injuries?

It was a pretty viscous game. There's no denying that there was some serious hitting going on. It was like every other play someone went down. Some probably were fluke, and some (such as Manning's) were pretty obviously from getting rocked. |

That sounds disgusting. I hope they cleaned up afterward. |

I thought I was alone in this one. Was it just me too or were his receivers having to readjust for almost every pass he threw? |

I saw him hit a couple of receivers in stride, but I think I could have completed at least 50% against the Giants DB last night.. I've said since the offseason, I'll be suprised to see the Giants with more than 5 wins. |

Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
The Tuna said on ESPN that this lose could be a very big hit and the O is going to have to make up what Ferguson lose all year!
|
Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
Ferguson's injury is pretty big. You guys notice Ward tear through the middle throughout the game?
I think the plan is pretty simple against Dallas. Run, run, run... and then burn horse-collar Williams when he creeps the line. |
Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
do they even have another nose tackle? this is a big loss. lets get behind the dirtbags, and run it right down their throats
|
Re: Cowboys' Ferguson Reportedly Out for the Season
Nose tackle in the 3/4 is crucial. And it's not like the D looked good before that...
Romo looked good, but it's hard to say with the gints D. We'll probably be able to ball-control Romo and TO off the field. But they can move the ball, no doubt, and TO is a threat (both to his team and other teams...). I hate Dallas. |

The team likes him alot ,,, but after a few weeks , I bet they will really miss Ferguson . If Newman doesn't come back at full strength soon , they might get burned all year !

Wouldn't surprise me to see Tank Johnson in a Cowboys uniform for the back end of the season

that would make sense, I doubt anyone cares about gun violations in Texas. |

Nope, no way no how. Johnson is a 4-3 DT and has limited to no exposure to the 3-4. Also, no matter what (or IF) team signs him, he still has to sit out 8 games AFTER he signs. So if someone takes a chance on him and signs him in week 12, then he will not be active until week 5 of the 2008-09 season. Ratliff did fine in replacement. He has been playing at NT for the past couple of seasons in relief of Fergy. He is not a big NT but effective. He gets great penetration up the middle and recorded a sack on Sunday night, and had 3 in the preseason playing NT. When Ward broke those big runs...it was away from Ratliff and right at rookie Anthony Spencer. |
