I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Seems like Bill Belichick better find a new way to win games now that the gig is up. Actually, I guess it's not officially proven that they were cheating but since I really hate the Patriots (envy?) I want to believe it.
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Now we know why everyone thinks Belichick is a "genius."
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
I honestly don't know why the think they have to cheat to win. They probably have the best team in the NFL talent wise.
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Belichick is a an arrogant, disrespectful introvert who lucked up with a genius QB and f#@ked that up by getting rid of his 1# target. Now, wait until Randy Moss's shit hits the fan and they play the more aggressive teams that will lay the wood on Moss. You will see how ingenious Belichick is. If he has to spy on his pupil's team in order to get an advantage, that speaks volumes about the true nature of some individual who has been called the greatest coach ever and he won 3 Superbowls at least 10 after the real genius of the Redskins did.

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
wow... i guess im in the minority here.
i like belichick. i dont think the signal stealing will be a huge big deal, but maybe we should look into it |
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
I've always disliked Belichick. He definately comes across as an arrogant ass. As a matter of fact, so does Brady. Yes, I just said I have a distaste for two of the NFL's golden boys.
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
"cheaters never win" i used to hear that when i was a youngster and i still believe that cheaters shouldn't win..I guess that those old sayings are sometimes wrong since bill has already won...i really dislikle b.belichick too

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
I've been wondering about the green dots on the helmets. It serves to reason that the sticker is needed because somebody was using extra radio receivers in helmets other than the quarterback. This would be a great advantage in the two minute drill or in any no huddle situation. Any thoughts on who might have done something like that?
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Hopefully, Belichick will do the right thing and resign. Of course, he won't unless public pressure builds. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Nothing is going to happen. I don't know what kind of evidence they have, but this doesn't strike me as something the NFL is going to crack down on.
Maybe they should, but I just don't see this blowing up. |
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Isn't this exactly what they complained about another team doing last year?
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Yup, the Dolphins recorded the audio of the Patriots call at the line.

As I understand it, you can blame Vick for this...sort of. I guess the idea came about last year when the Falcons had both Matt Schaub and Mike Vick on the field at the same time. I believe only the QB can have the radio communication, so when Vick and Schaub are on the field at the same time the refs got confused I guess. I suppose if we ever put Randle El behind center and lined up JC at tight end for some trick play, this would come into play. |

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
This is kind of funny
The late Redskins coach George Allen presided over the glory years of NFL espionage. The Cowboys used to rent out the second floor of a local hotel because it stood next to their practice facility, and they were certain Allen's spies were occupying the rooms. Cowboys safety Cliff Harris once told me players were convinced that every helicopter that flew overhead contained a Redskins spy. I'm totally with you there. Can't stand either one of those asswipes. |
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Chris Hanburger has a good story in Three Cheers for the Redskins where he talks about Allen telling him exactly what play the opposing team was about to run. The guys also said that Allen's security man, who they called Double-0, would disappear for a couple of days in the middle of the week and no one was sure where he would go. That's one of the best NFL Films features you'll see. Watch for it.

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
I think it's kind of fishy that a team has managed to pull off three titles in a four year stretch in the salary cap era. I'm not saying that the Pats haven't earned their place in history, but I have got to question some of the tatics they've used to get there. Bill Belichick seems like one of those win at all cost, zero ethics, kind of guys. I'm glad we've at least got a coach who's a hard working and admirable human being (he's also a heck of a coach to boot)!

Brady is far from a golden boy, golden boy's don't normally have children out of wedlock! |
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
I think that if the Pats are guilty, the punishment should be that Belichek has to go read stories to sick kids. It would probably kill the evil f---.
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
I think they should strip the Pats of their Super Bowls, strip them of the win vs the Jets, disband the team, then move them to Alaska. Their new name can be the Anchorage Ass Pounders!

Now we're off and running. I think they should make Belechik share a studio apartment with Randy Moss and be filmed for an MTV reality show. |

I had sex with Katie too. |
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
I've always disliked Belichick too. I don't know him personally but he plays the part of a prick pretty damn well.
I wouldn't jump the gun yet but if they did cheat and cheated in the past they should lose all their draft picks for an entire year plus a few more 1st round draft picks. And if they cheated during their SB games they should most definitely lose their trophies. |

this is a great film. they mic up coach Allen for a large part of the show. and as far as they patriots, i believe they confiscated a video camera from their sideline last year, too. could lose a draft pick or 2. depending whats on the camera |
It's all a diversion...he's really gay.
LOL. He may be flaming gay, or a golden boy, or whatever you want to call him. But he is one hell of a QB. Those lasers he was throwing to Moss were a thing of beauty. |
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
About the Patriots cheating...the more I hear about it, the more I get pissed off. Think about it, a lot of times a drive comes down to how you play on 3rd down...if the Pats are cheating and know what they are calling, that changes the game drastically!
Oddly enough, my brother (still lives in Boston) usually sees the world with rose colored glasses on when it comes to his favorite players or teams, this is what he e-mailed me: If they find them guilty I honestly don't care what they do. Make them forfiet the season for all I care. I was reading about it in today's paper, and I found myself not caring about how the team does right now. If they are found guilty then it will affect how I feel about them. Here I am thinking they are doing everything the right way, the Patriot Way, and what have they been doing?? CHEATING??? Darn them!!!!! I am shocked that he even said that. But it goes to show you how deep this is. |
I think Green Bay says they did it to them last year.
Apparently there have been several teams that have suspected it. This is huge. |
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
From Mort at ESPN:
Sources: Goodell determines Pats broke rules by taping Jets' signals By Chris Mortensen ESPN.com NFL Determines Pats Violated Rules NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has determined that the New England Patriots violated league rules Sunday when they videotaped defensive signals by the New York Jets' coaches, according to league sources. NFL security officials confiscated a camera and videotape from Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella on the New England sidelines when it was suspected he was recording the Jets' defensive signals. Sources say the visual evidence confirmed the suspicion. Goodell is considering severe sanctions, including the possibility of docking the Patriots "multiple draft picks" because it is the competitive violation in the wake of a stern warning to all teams since he became commissioner, the sources said. The Patriots have been suspected in previous incidents. The Patriots will be allowed an opportunity to present their case by Friday, sources said, most likely via the telephone. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Tuesday that no official decision has been made and that the club has not been notified. The league also was reviewing a possible violation into the number of radio frequencies the Patriots were using during Sunday's game, sources said. The team did not have a satisfactory explanation when asked about possible irregularities in its communication setup during the game. Goodell is expected to have a decision no later than Friday but that is not set in stone. Chris Mortensen covers the NFL for ESPN. Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
This is awful, I hope the Patriots get punished for this. There is no need to cheat and it's not like your team is the Browns. You have a winning history these past few years and you a ton of talent. Why cheat?
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
F*** the patriots!!! knew they were cheaters!! Its just been confirmed by Godell. And they're supposed to be "The model franchise" and so great. F*** them, belechick and brady too. Yes i hate the patriots always have. wonder how the won all those superbowls?!
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Wouldn't it be crazy if the Pats went into a tailspin and finished like 7 and 9 or something. I doubt it but that would be pretty telling.
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Yeah one of my really good friends is a Patriots fan and I can't stand him always gloating. I hope they actually turn out with a losing season for once, if only once.
|
Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
A tainted dynasty? kinda like Bonds and the home run thing (not really, but I am so tired of the pats...)
