Redskins to Wear 75th Anniversary Jerseys at Giants Game
 

I'm just speculating here. But on Redskins.com it's telling everyone to wear their 75th Anniversary jerseys at the Giants game (Sept. 23), so it stands to reason the team will wear their 75th Anniversary jerseys that day as well.

I couldn't figure out why they didn't wear them on the home opener. Theismann was there to be honored on his birthday and it would of been sweet. Either way I hope to have my JC premier 75th uni by then.

Hey guys, if Madden 08 is any indicator of what the Redskins 75 anniversery uniform will look like, then you already know what the jerseys look like(go to Redskins.com), but the pants will be yellow, and the helmet will be the yellow with the "R" on only one side of the helmet, ala Steelers. Again, this is what the uniform looks like on Madden 08.

I would not be surprised to see them on Monday night. WIP radio is having a "Throwback giveaway" for the game, which may mean the Eagles will wear their throwbacks. The Redskins may do the same...

I hope so because I got screwed with the Steelers/Browns game this week on my local affiliate. On MNF, I'm guaranteed to see the Skins. :)


If this happens, there's going to be a lot of yellow on the field. :D

You are correct. On the skins radio show today they confirmed that the 23rd will be the debut of the throwbacks.

Today's Post says they will wear these hideous looking unis on Sunday. It also sounds like the players dont like the looks of them either, JC said "somehow we will make them work ".

I'm looking forward to seeing them. I was never a big fan of the yellow helmet with the 'R' logo but over the years it's kinda grown on me.

Really? I like those a hell of a lot more than the 70th anniversary florida state uniforms.

This morning's interviews on Comcast told a different story. They give Smoot and Rodgers credit for ordering them since they both love yellow, but every player they asked had good comments.

I love them, they're far from hideous.

I might record the game just because they're wearing them, plus we'll kill the Giants. :)

With all due respect to Vince Lombardi, I never cared for the yellow "R" Redskin's helmets, or the associated yellow/white uni's. I preferred the burgundy "arrowhead" throwback helmet for nostalgia, but our current uni still reigns supreme.

Jeeze, listen to us all. We sound like a bunch of girlfriends talking about our dresses! :tongue As long as we see some crimson color (blood) on these ridiculous throwback uni's, I don't care what they wear.

I don't play madden but have numerous pictures from the 71 season the R was on both sides of the helmet. Sounds like you got a flaw in your game if it only shows on one side. This was the Lombardi designed helmet wore two years only.

I personally liked the 70th uniforms. I bought 2 jerseys in that style because I like them so much. I have an old Rod Gardner one and a newer ST one and I love em! But our throwbacks are the best by far. The Iggles ones are ATROCIOUS. If i was a philly fan and we were losing THAT bad AND they had to wear those queer looking jerseys, I might just riot.

I never liked the Vince designed helmets either. I'd prefer the throwback to go all the way back to the beginning with the single feather on the back of the Burgandy helmet. I'm just not quite sure what our unis looked like back in the '30s and '40s.

Just a side note: The feather(s) was(were) originally used to help shade the sun from the Braves eyes!

YES!! that was the best design for a football helmet ever...can't get much more original in my opinion

I guess most people know the story about why Vince Lombardi chose the "R" helmets. He was basing that on the "G" helmets of the Packers, whom of course he had coached before the Redskins. Maybe he liked the yellow helmets of Green Bay too.

Personally, I like the uniforms, and having canary yellow prominent in the color scheme, but think that the "R" is better on a baseball cap.
