Thank you Smoot for Shazam!

I really like our kicker thus far, but then most of us do. Yeah, he's missed a field goal now and then, and that kick off out of bounds in the preseason was aggravating, but all in all with what we've suffered the last few years, he's been a pleasant surprise. The only problem I had was his freakin last name... Suishman. Now, the announcers never pronounce it the same, every week it seems there was a different pronounciation. Then it seemed like I read somewhere that it was pronounced Swishman. So, for many many months I referred to the guy as Swishman. But then I kept hearing different prounounciations, and even reading about different ones in print. Sooooo, thank you thank you Smoot for giving a nickname that is sure to stick....Shazam! If this guy keeps it up, this thing could really take off. Imagine the T-shirt and marketing opportunities with that big lightning bolt. Thanks again Smoot, and please hold on to the ball next time.

It should be noted that Shazam has only missed ONE field goal in his tenure as a Redskin!

LOL. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? LOL.

I like when the announcer's pronounce his name as Squeeze 'em. Always makes me laugh.

Re: Thank you Smoot for Shazam!

If Shazam can make the roster the next 5-6 years it will be another feather in Gibbs' cap, just like if JC can be our qb of the future.

Look at the steady winners - Iggles, colts, pats. over the past 6-7 years or so they've had a reliable kicker. Not many teams can seem to keep one guy for long.

It's pronounced SWEE-zuhm

and supposedly he already has a nickname: Swisher Sweet

Like the cheap cigars I guess

Whenever I think of Shazam!, first thing I think of is Jim Neighbors on Mayberry playing Gomer, he always yelled "Shaaaazam!". Next, I think of the tv show Smootsmack linked to. What a great nickname.

unreal nick name by ol fred smoot, by the way did you here when he blamed dropping that int on carlos rogers. he said he was hanging out with carlos rogers too much (carlos dropped like 10 last year). smoot then looks at his hands and calls one carlos and the other hand rogers, freaking hilarious. smoots the man.

He may be hilarious, but he is far from the man.

His self supported ego is not large enough to stop receivers when he gives them 8-10 yards off the line of scrimmage.

He got turned around more than a dreidel at channukah!

He needs to shut up and practice.

The best thing he did in the last seven days was the SHAZZAM nickname, though.

Come on dawg, you are picking the wrong guy to go after, or at least the wrong forum to after him. Smoot is HILAROUS.

I feel he didnt have his best game but hardly did he play bad. you picked the wrong thread anyways to bring this up...the best thing you did in the last seven days is come up with " he got turned around more than a dreidel at channukah!" did you get that from your dad or are you a dad yourself....later buddy

You need to calm down. You think everyone is coming after you and you strike back for some reason. Stop now.

Actually, I kinda stole that line from someone else, I think in this forum.

Someone said he got turned around like a top. Tops aren't as funny as dreidel, so I pulled a Carlos Mencia and stole the joke and added a twist.

Smoot is a funny guy, and quite the mariner, apparently.

His play last week was not up to par.

And that interception: went right through his hands. He should've had it.

My model Redskin is still Art Monk.

All Action, No Mouth, just HOF numbers.

LMAO!! How bad was 70's television.. Damn..

Just let him kick 3 more game winners and have us sitting at 5-2 or something and ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown will do a package on him with that as the intro.. I smell a 'Mayne Event'..

Re: Thank you Smoot for Shazam!

SMOOT played fine, he was on chambers a lot......a great receiver, and didn't get beat for more than 10 yards.....gotta like that, especially when there is no pressure on the QB. The skins didn't blitz much, and told the corners to contain....smoot did just that. People always hate on him for giving up a lot of completions....but he rarely gets beat for TD's. Plus he's a great locker room guy...and a REDSKIN. I would take smoot over rogers to cover a top receiver.
That has Mike Sellers written all over it
I agree 100%.
Especially since Sellers used to lose his head and get called for personal fouls on nearly every special teams play, but now he knows how to harness that aggression and use it for good.
I fear him, and yet I cannot look away...

Mega props to Suisham and Frost. These guys have come a long way. Plus the fact that Gibbs had faith in Suisham to kick a 40 yarder to end the game tells me that's a gimme for him.

We have a kicker that we can count on to successfully kick field goals inside the 50 yards fills me with joy!

Just didn't want you getting into the same "banter" you got into with DGreene28. That's all.

I kind of like the fact that he was a Cowboy. I know people don't like to have former Cowboys on our team. But could you imagine the division coming down to the final game of this season, and we clinch it with a Suisham field goal at the end of regulation? Would be kind of sweet for Swiss Beatz and the Skins

I like Swizz Beatz too. But Smoot is DEF the man for the whole "Shazam" thing and ESPECIALLY for the Carlos Rogers thing with his hands.

I thinks its a toss up between

Swizz Beatz
Shazam
Swishman

Squeeze 'Em came up big again. Perfect night kicking. I wouldn't mind if he had a little bigger leg on the kickoffs but I'll take accuracy over distance any day.
