Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep

What is the treatment for a minor triceps tear? Treatment options include rest, ice, heat, pain relief and mobility and strength exercises. The recovery time for a minor triceps tear can be one to four weeks.

What is the treatment for a major triceps tear? Treatment is surgery followed by intensive physical therapy. The recovery time for a major triceps tear is four to six months.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. A "torn" tricep to me means out for the season.
Any way we look at it, it's not good.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep

All depends on the extent of the tear. We won't know until he has a MRI.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep

He didn't seem to be in a lot of pain on the sidelines, which at least could be positive. And it's not like we couldn't move the ball on the ground or pass protect after he was injured...

Oddly enough a torn tricep is not that painful. Can't tell you why. I partially ripped mine, and had no clue other than when I went to use it hard. Of course, Thomas has to use it hard every play, but on the sidelines I doubt he felt much of anything.

When you lose two starting linemen and one of them is your first or second best linemen that is a major problem. I'm worried.

Ray Lewis had a torn tricep week one and was back week 2.

Riiight. I'm just pointing out that our o line didn't fall apart, even with the right side filled in by backups. That's a good sign. Obviously we'd rather have the starters in there.

Randy Thomas could be a huge loss if he is out for an extended period of time. Hopefully Jason Fabini can step up like Todd Wade did for us.

Hopefully Fabini can *stop* stepping up before the ball is snapped.

hopefully this isnt a season ending injury, but atleast our line looked good today. wade did well i thought

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep

Yeah I don't think we're gonna have a problem with Wade, but Jason Fabini scares me. He had too many false starts for one. We can manage if Thomas is out for a short period of time, but if he's out for the season I think we should look at all possible replacements.

Very tough loss, if it's for the season. Randy's a team leader as well. And, according to JC, the team cook on Tuesdays.

i agree. fabini cant be our starting right guard the whole season.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep

They've gotta be scouring the waiver wires and unsigned or disgruntled lists! If we could find another Kendall it might be worth a draft pick at this point. Long way to go and 2 OL starters out. Tough. Backups did great, but as stated above, we need a proven RG to fill in. Look for Redskins to sign someone immediately.

Whatever happened to Edwin Mulitato? Is he still thirty miles up the road, waiting for a phone call?

I could have castrated him for that....I was tired, and even I didn't need that sh@t.

If it is torn he's probually done for season.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep

Fabini did very well last light. The false starts are bad, but 10 yards of penalties in hostile territory at a position you don't practice in and haven't played in your career? Not bad at all.

He signed with Detroit a long time ago.

Zach Piller is available, he last played for the Titans. The skins looked at him in the offseason if I'm not mistaken.

Our O-line played really well last night. We are actually pretty deep at that position.....THANK GOD!

Losing Jansen was bad but we will be ok there, Randy is a more serious blow in my opinion for the running attack.

Your right!
Considering the recent changes, they played exceptional. Given some time (assuming Thomas is out for a while) the false starts will go away, and naturally the unit will gel to some degree.
Actually I am quite impressed with the replacement of Dock, Jansen, and now Thomas. Any one of those could be considered season breakers or at least detrimental. Our guys don't seem to miss a beat, hardly.
Nice work Joe Bugel!

Apparently the 'Skins are already looking for a possible replacement for Randy Thomas according to JLC. His injury must be serious.

Same here. For someone with as many years experience as he, better performance should be expected regardless of how loud it was or where he was positioned (he is an O-lineman right?). And according to the link I posted earlier to "Redskins Insider," they are actively looking for someone else to possibly fill that spot ahead of Fabini.

Sounds like a good idea to me. He nearly blew the game with his penalties. It's a good thing Campbell can thread the ball between 2 defenders to Cooley in the endzone, or the outcome of the game could've been different.

No, he THOUGHT he did and told the trainers that but they determined it wasn't torn after the game. It was just strained, not torn. BIG BIG difference.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep

When someone finds out what the extent of Thomas's injury is please post it!!!!! I am hoping that it is not as bad as they thought. In addition is Jansen truly out for the entire season or are they going to reevaluate his recovery at some point down the line. IR? Or are they waiting to see if he could potentially come back down the line?

I don't know if anyone noticed but in the past week the Washington Post called Stephon Heyer a guard in their feature article about how far he's come. Is that a typo or can Stephon really play guard?

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep

See JLC's Skins insider today - he mentions that Keydrick Vincent (sp?) has a visit here after going to the rams. JLC mentioned him earlier in camp as a potential skins signing when Dock left.

HOpe we can get em. Fabini played well in pass protection last night, but I don't know how well he can run block, especially pull, which is what Thomas does so well.

I'm pretty sure they already put Jansen on IR...

Besides the two penalties, I think Fabini did okay. We should just stick with him. Why go out and get another guy who doesn't know the offense? Fabini has been here since day 1 and deserves a shot before we decide to sign someone else.

If Thomas goes on IR or doesn't play for a few weeks we are still a body short.

True. I was just referring who would replace R.Thomas. I just don't think its a good idea to sign someone off the street to be our starting RG. Fabini knows the system, so its a no brainer.

But I agree, we should sign someone just for more depth.
