I'm So Tired Of The Brett Favre Lovefest!!

The media is so fickle. Last year and the year before all you heard was , Brette needs to retire. This year he's the best thing since sliced bread.

I guarantee you all this week and all during the pre-game of the Skins v. Packers, it's going to be all about Favre and his damn TD record and how he's having so much fun.

For the record, I hope the Skins knock the snot out of his a**. What's really sad is that after we beat that ass, the media is going to talk about how Brette gave us the game, blah..blah.

Re: I'm So Tired Of The Brette Favre Lovefest!!

I thought he should retire because the Packers didn't seem to be doing anything to build the team around him.

But, apart from no running game, I may have been wrong.

I'm sure there will be a "Mark Brunell was Favre's backup" story

By the way....I'm watching the Packers/Bears game right now and whoever thinks the Packers have no running game needs to seriously be watching this game. Incidently, just as I am typing this out, the Packers have just scored at touchdown running it.

Not a consistent running game, I should say. They've shown some spurts

it is annoying, but the skins will get more publicity with a win, and favre will lose some of it.

They ran for 64 yards on that first drive. May not be a consistent running game, I don't know. But, what I do know is, it's going to be a touch game for us next week.

That's more than their average per game this year.

He has a Super Bowl ring...he can retire in peace like Elway did.

Chicago's D got to be better than their offense, they are looking cheap right now.

Madden is killing me right now, he is all over Bret's nuts as usual.

He's probably sick of everyone misspelling his name; it's Brett Favre.

I can understand people being sick of Favre, I'm pretty much sick of being inundated with Peyton Manning. However, I happen to love Brett Favre, the way he plays the game and the fact that he's statistically the best QB in the history of the NFL. He even set the record with less attempts than Marino.

I think this game is going to be tough next week, but if the Pack has to rely on throwing the way the Lions did, they'll be in trouble.

LOL. Good catch. Who would've thought the first name (not the last) would be spelled incorrectly

Changing now

Yeah he is amazing. He is about 2 picks away from all time interception record too.

He is just a gunslinger, that's all. He just throws, and the majority of the time it is a decent throw, but when he fucks up, it really hurts the team. We haven't seen that this year, but he can throw some terrible picks.

Re: I'm So Tired Of The Brett Favre Lovefest!!

Damn he just made an amazing throw to Jennings. Dropped in perfectly. Not the typical bullet you see from him.

the guy has earned my respect and admiration... .I've been watching him for a long long time and he's still playing amazingly well. Dude has balls and he's a hell of a football story. No, wait F that the guy is an NFL Legend, and Madden should be all over his nuts.

I'm sick of hearing about goddamn Tony Romo. Let the guy win for a few years consistantly before you crown him the second coming, ya know?

skinsguy 10-07-2007 10:02 PM

Re: I'm So Tired Of The Brett Favre Lovefest!!

Yeah. I respect Brett Favre and don't really mind how the media makes over the guy. I mean, he's had to play through some stressful things in his life. He is one of the few non-redskins quarterbacks that I enjoy or have enjoyed watching play. Other QBs have been Joe Montana and John Elway.

But yeah, I agree....I don't like Tony Romo at all. He looks like he's going to be a heck of a QB, but I just don't like him.

My thoughts exactly! On both accounts...I've always liked Favre, he's played the QB position with the attitude of a linebacker!

Yeah, I love to watch the guy play the game. He can make some brutal throws, but I'd take him over much of what we've had in Washington during his career.

Yeah, but they are a very one-dimensional team still. I think we have a good shot next week, even if it is in Lambeau.

I agree. The Packers are going to be pissed. One good thing is I bet the whole team got to watch this game. Except for Portis and Cooley. I bet they are in AC as we speak.

Re: I'm So Tired Of The Brett Favre Lovefest!!

For all that Favre-love, that pick to Urlacher was vintage Brett. About time we saw some of that, given how good he's been this year.

Talk about playing not to lose! The Pack just shut their offense down and let the Bears (!!!) back in it. And that TD throw by Griese was a bold call, especially for Lovey.

I am not that impressed with the Pack--but if John Madden's long-time man-crush gets his gunslinger action going, they can be pretty good. We may well have a bit of a let-down (psychologically, it will be hard to get as pumped up as after that horid Giants loss). But if GW brings the D and we get some TOs, I think the pack will get pretty worried pretty fast. I don't think anyone quite believes the hype up there--a few tough TOs, after what happened against the bears, and we may be able to get it done.

Hope Moss and ARE are back though. Those CBs are old and slow, and they grab and hold on every friggin play. We can get behind them.

PS Anyone else enjoying watching AA play for ANYONE BUT US? I am. He is weak.

James Jones lost the game for the Packers. Brett was OK but he's not superman. He deserves props but the lovefest is extreme... I thought the Packers' playcalling was pathetic in the 2nd half. If we stuff their crappy running game then we'll be OK. How is Smoot doing? I did not see final injury status on him.

to me, its about time someone that is generally considered a good guy, get some press. i really enjoy Favre, and his mentality. its really enjoyable to see him running around like a kid, still enjoying himself on the field. and there's no doubt he can still play at a high level. but i do see the skins going up there and taking care of business

Re: I'm So Tired Of The Brett Favre Lovefest!!

Don't get me wrong here, guys. Favre is a shoe-in Hall of Famer. I just hate it that good, bad, or indifferent, Favre and Manning are shoved down our throats every week - for different reasons mind you.

The guy is a good quarterback, but damn every week we have to hear about every tradgedy of his life. There are tons of guys in the NFL that have lost parents and/or loved ones.

I don't know, I have a lot of respect for him as a player and he seems to be a stand up guy too, but the media just loves it whenever he sneezes.

Re: I'm So Tired Of The Brett Favre Lovefest!!

What I find most entertaining about the coverage of Favre is the description of his INT throws. The media tends to justify his int's as his competative desire to "make a play". WTF??
I am curious why the other qb's in the league would "love to have that lame ass duck back", and Favre was "using his competative fire to generate another play when none existed"???

Another good point. If it's Favre, he's being gutsy...if it's Pennington, it was ill advised.
But now we get a ticked off Packers team. We seem to do better against "hyped teams"
One possible attribution for this is that teams don't learn nearly as much from a win as they do from a loss. I think that's why its so hard to go 16-0, is that other teams are losing and working hard to correct mistakes, and your team is just rolling with whatever has been working.

So the Packers are going to play us a lot tougher than when they played the Bears. However, if we play defense like we did against the Lions, its not going to matter. I think we are better than GB, but it's not going to be an easy victory.

Re: I'm So Tired Of The Brett Favre Lovefest!!

Favre is a great QB and very down to earth. There's not too many things someone can dislike about him. With that being said the only thing i don't like is the decision making every offseason to retire or play. It gets pretty old. I can blame the media for most of it though.

Hey but Favre is one of the greatest qb's of all time and is nearing the end so the media is going to be all over him. Wait til Manning retires....Brady retires...same thing.

I think if we beat the Packers, people will say "Well the Packers were never that good."

Just like how people today are saying, "Well the Lions weren't that good."

Every time the Skins win, this stuff happens and it sucks, but I think that is what will happen.

If Favre picks us apart, it'll be even worse.

First, welcome to the board.

Second, Yes, that is what over-paid so called sports analysts will do. But that is what everyone else, usually fans, does too. Till now, people argue that all the Pats opponents have been flukes and they are not as good as we might think. If you were here last week, you would have seen many many posts of members saying how bad Dallas is because of the teams they faced. That is the beauty of internet and free speech, you can think and say what you want.

Going back to the Favre subject, I hate Madden because he is in LOVE with Favre. The media praises him as the golden boy of the NFL.
