Who is the face of the redskins in your opinion?
 

This season has been pretty wild so far. Our defense is top notch, yet our offense seems to sputter weekly. We're 4-2 so no complaints right? Who do you think has contributed the most to our team. And also, who would pick to be the face of the Redskins this season so far?

I agree with those two, Coach Gibbs without any doubts.. But if you want a player, I probably would have to say Sean Taylor right now because he is the most true player.. However JC is on pace becoming face of Redskins..

Campbell is becoming the face of the Redskins, but for today it's still Joe Gibbs

portis is the face of the skins, even if he hasnt had a hundred yard game and stellar stats... he's the most physical buy on the team and he plays his ass off when he's in the game.

Campbell is coming into his own, and if he continues his progressions, I think he'll be the guy, but he's not quite there yet...

Clinton Portis will never ever be the face of any franchise let alone ours. He is a great player, but he is a mercenary. He has no loyalty to anyone but himself and he will be the first to tell you that. Football is a business to Portis in many ways and he has every right to see it that way. Gibbs is the face of the franchise and if Campbell can take his place we are going to be very happy for sure.

Actually Portis is a team player. If you listen to his interviews he's always talking about the team as a whole. Even when asked questions about his carries and the running game and sharing the ball with Betts, he talks about the running game as a committee and welcomes the 2-back system. He's a very vocal leader. I admit though, he does have a bit of an ego and probably more arrogant then what a true redskins player should be, but we're in a league of premadonnas and he does give this team some character ^^ But I don't think he's selfish at all, he just wants to win.

As for the face of the franchise, it is Joe Gibbs easy.

As for Portis. You can make the case that he is a mercenary, but then again you can say the same thing about almost every other player in the NFL. They all want to win or they wouldn't compete, but they go to the highest bidder.

I guess Gibbs would be the best answer, however, I don't think we have a face, or at this point, an identity.

Never said he wasn't a team player. He is absolutely.

most people tend to think that someone who "is a mercenary and has no loyalties to anyone but themselves" arent the best team players...

I think he's a great team guy who has given this team everything he had to give for the last several years...

He's never publicly bashed this team for throwing his HOF career off track, and has done everything we've asked him to do and more, including playing hurt and being one of the best (if not the best) blocking running backs in the league..

actually the more i think about it the more absurd your statement sounds... there are alot of backs that play much more conservatively (blocking, tackling, not running out of bounds) to preserve their careers over the interests of their teams winning football games... Hes the antitheses of everything you describe, AND, if you ask coach gibbs and he were to give you an honest opinion he'd probably tell you that clinton is the face of the skins and he wouldn't want it any other way...

Undoubtably Gibbs, and if thats his only role on his team at this point, he's still doing a damn good job.

I also will have to chime in on the Clinton Portis talks....noone was a bigger supporter of CP than me during his 1st 2 years here....I loved him being our back, but after his injury plagued year in 06, to me he still doesn't look 100%....I know our line is in disarray right now, but he still doesn't hit the holes like he used to, doesn't have the burst he used to....and I'm afraid he's going to be the next Fred Taylor.....a good running back that stays injured off and on enough to keep him from being a really great running back.

As much as I hate to, I have to agree to all of the above. Portis , IMO, WAS the face of our franchise his first 2 years because, really, he was all we had. He definitely doesnt look 100% now. Just like you said, he doesnt hit the holes like he used too. I love CP but, I would rather have him healthy than not and not being the Clinton Portis we all know he is.

I would think that Sean Taylor is the face of our franchise right now. A terrific athlete that comes here with problems and has not only seemed to solve them and calm himself down, but has found a good niche' in our system, hence him being the NFL's INT leader.

Campbell with continue to grow and soon become the face of this team but, as of right now, IMO, its #21.

Sorry, but this is kind of a silly thread. This is a team w/o an identity. Gibbs can't really be the face of the team because he has no personality and he's becoming somewhat of a laughing-stock around the league for the coach who does not have to worry about job security regardless of how utterly awful his team is. That's not really something anyone wants to identify with, let alone be associated with.

Guys, I've been advocating an end to the Gibbs era since I joined the site. He's over and it's gonna be OK in the long run. The players never really got behind Gibbs, especially on the offense where he spends most of his time. I don't have an explanation for it, I'm just describing the picture (I know you guys see it too even if you don't want to admit it).

Long run view, there's sunshine. Saunders is a proven offensive man (and in the last decade too) and when he actually gets to run it like he ran KC there's a real good possibility our offense will take off. Otherwise, there are some solid coaches to be had out there: Cowher, old Marty.

I have to agree with him. Gibbs needs to pass the play calling duties to someone else. Maybe the captain of the Cheer squad, the band director. head custodian, and thats just the start.
