How will the Team respond?

After watching the game today, it seemed as though everyone quit trying after the first drive of the 2nd half for the Pats. The D seemed as though they didn’t care if they were scored on and the O looked just bad. Anyway, after taking a beating like this does the team come out and kill the Jets or go on a big losing streak due to lack of confidence?

The team thankfully isn't run by every other member of this site. I doubt they'll fold up and call it a season

Next week is going to be a beat-down of Chad Pennington. The team was embarrassed and will take it out on the Jets. Final score - 24-6

Jason Cambell has had his worst 2 performances of his career, granted its a short one. If he performs next week how he has against arizona and new england, his confidence will be shot. Personally, i would've stopped playing cambell at halftime and would have sat out our whole defense. That being said, I dont think our team gave any effort what so ever i doubt anybody on that team thought they could win. Our offense started out strong at the beginning of the season, since then it seems they get worse and worse each week

I too think our defense will respond w/ revenge. This game doesn't make any difference to our offense though.

Bigger question: how will the front office and Snyder respond to this embarassment?

When was the last time Joe Gibbs won at the Meadowlands? The offense will find it rough going again next week. We'll lose.

I dunno, I still can't see us losing to the Jets. Our D will be looking for revenge, Smoot should be back. We really should win next week.

Re: How will the Team respond?

I think our defense will be fine once we get Rogers and/or Smoot back. If Rogers doesn't return any time soon, maybe we will finally begin to appreciate that he actually is a better CB than many people think.

I am concerned, about the offense. I knew we'd have trouble against New England, but I didn't expect to get demolished and I didn't expect us to have serious trouble against Arizona. Jason Campbell has been having a lot of trouble lately and the wideouts aren't exactly inspiring. But we should have more success against the Jets.

In the end, we're 4-3 and we should beat the Jets. Hopefully, this loss serves as a source of motivation.

Any road game is going to be a struggle for us. Especially with our offense.

I do think that we can bounce back next weekend and beat the Jets, if and only if we can get away from the boring play calling. Is anyone else here tired of the 1st down pass- incomplete, 2nd down run- 2 yards, 3rd down pass- incomplete, PUNT! Am i the only one that thinks the offense is not being managed very well?

We got the Jets, and Eagles coming up in the next two weeks. Hopefully we can win both of those games, and be 6-3.

Re: How will the Team respond?

We'll see--this is the big question. We'll learn a lot more about our team in the next few weeks then we did today.

I don't think guys quit, for what it's worth. No one has stopped the pats, at all, and we turned the ball over 4 times--that's tough on a D in the best of circumstances. The O struggled, but against a top 5 D on the road. Gotta move along and get the wins we should, and must, get.

I would like to see you play QB behind that offensive line. Todd Wade and Jason Fabini were horrible, Wade continues to whiff on blocks and hes getting Campbell killed. Missing Thomas and Jansen is huge, dont underestimate that.

I think that if they keep running the offense the way they are the season will end up lost. They need to be more creative with the massive amount of talent we have.

We will redeem ourselves next week and then we have the Eagles at home. I think our guys will move on past this.

Re: How will the Team respond?

We are not going to respond positively to this loss if we Jason Campbell continues to look for Randle El and Cooley on almost every play. There is no effort to get Sellers, Betts, Lloyd, McCardell or Caldwell into the game. The passes to Cooley are becoming predictable as the Patriots demonstrated today.

Southtown15 10-28-2007 08:46 PM

Re: How will the Team respond?

How is it that at the begining of the season the world is talking about how powerful a duo Portis and Betts will be. Yet, 7 games in, neither has done anything that impressive. We are not utilizing all of our weapons.

Cowell 10-28-2007 08:50 PM

It's hard to utilize weapons with no offensive line.

How can you predict that we will score 24 point on anyone? The last three weeks the offesne have scored 35 points. More homerism at it's best.

This team should be completely ashamed of it's performance today. They were out played at every phase of the game. I was hoping that this team would not play like this, with it's pitiful display of heart and effort. And JC is in his 3rd season in the NFL, it is time that he starts playing like it. I am truely embarrassesed for this team. Today my wife gave me a birthday gift of two Redskins tickets to see the eagles play at Fedex this year. This will be her first NFL game, and I hope that this team can rebound from this terrible display of an alleged pro team playing professional football with a Hall of Fame coach.
It's hard to utilize weapons with no offensive line.
As far as I am aware, everyone on the offensive line other than Jansen and Thomas were healthy enough to play today. Those three fumbles/ sacks were deplorable. I can't be too hard on Campbell, but Gibbs should have had this team more prepared than they were. I mean on third down after the Redskins forced a fumble, the play clearly should have been a draw play to Portis, but nnoooooooooo, let Campbell take a chance to the same side of the field to the same target (Cooley who was covered).

How can anyone predict a win next week w/ the pathetic offense that we've shown over the last few weeks? Sure, i think we can win, but the skins have shown me that they can't score points all season w/ the exception of one game.

I feel the same and I also received tickets for the game against Philadelphia. It better change real quick.

Re: How will the Team respond?

I do understand that missing two starters on the same side of the line already handcuffs the offense. But it does not require them to be one dimensional. An incompletion, a short run, and short pass, and a punt is not going to win many games. Im saying they are lacking creativity in the play selection. I cant tell you how many times the offense went three and out today using the play selection i described above. They run the same group of plays everytime while rarely taking any chances.

Like every team in the league injuries occur. The question is does this team have enough sense to adjust to its dilemma with nine games ahead of them?
If there a weakness in the line then TE's have to pick up the blitze as other teams seem to do. Portis is not the same runner he was in 2005. And Betts needs to get a certain amount of reps before he shows what he's made of.

And other teams have suffered as well. See the Rams (as has been pointed out). And when we had our TEs picking up the blitz, people started bitching about that too. You just can't please some people

It has become quite apparent that the Offensive line is not holding up it's 1/3 part of the game. Campbell is getting killed. Hopefully this season will not be his downfall like a certain other recent 1st round QB we had, who's career was shortened here in B&G land, because of a certain Ol'BallCoach!

Every game we go into with a patch-work O-line becomes a work-in-progress and a real stress-test!

Of course, line trouble and injuries are not that unusual. Ol'BallCoaches fortunately are unusual, are canned quickly, and just as quickly forgotten.

May I remind you that other than Miami, this is the first easy game this season, we are hungry to erase the board, and most importantly, its the Jets! 31-6

Re: How will the Team respond?

If we under estimate the Jets we will get beat. If we would of atleast put up a fight against the Pats we might be able to take a positive from this. But we didnt. I truly thought we had a legitimate shot at giving the Pats a game. Instead our offense is in shambles and our top 5 defense got their teeth knocked out.

Now when did the Patriots steal all of our secrets? LOL. It sure looked that way today. The Patriots are an immovable object and an unstoppable force. They also like to run up the score to.

Re: How will the Team respond?

Im not going to accuse them of running up the score. I wish they would of dropped 70 on us. We obviously need some kind of kick in the ass. If we are a top NFC team like we hope and claim to be then we really need to prove it. Our chance to do so against the Patriots sure didnt work out. Use this as motivation to destroy the Jets and Eagles, and gain some confidence going in to Dallas.

I am not really concerned about how the team will respond. Its one game and a week later and the Jets on the schedule should help "heal this team". That being said, every year the goal is the Super Bowl, and this Skins team is not even on the same planet as the Patriots this year, Everyone is playing for 2nd place as far as I am concerned this year... Wow what a complete team they are!

This game reminds me of the 2005 game versus the Giants when we got spank because of the dude that pass away up there. We went on a 5 game winning streak, I have a feeling that something of the same just might happen again. We look and played strangely the same way like in 2005and look what happen after that. Hmmmm??

Campbell's 3rd season, but his FIRST as a starter. Slight diff. Kind of like reading up on how to drive vs. jumping on 495.

Whatever the Philly outcome, enjoy the experience and quit worry about embarrassment. Get your tailgate on, too.

Thanks buddy, we will have a good time regardless. But, I do question your assement of JC. He got the keys to the offense middle of last year. And the year before that he held the clip board. And the buzz going into this year was all of the time he put into his off-season on getting ready for this year. Me, I'm a little tired of hearing him after every game saying how he needs to "look at some film", after another unimpressive proformance. Instead of the filmroom, he needs to get his butt out on the practice field to throw footballs with his receivers to get his timing and acurarcy down.

Luckly we will be playing against Kellen Clemons so hopefully after a few good plays by our defense our team will get themselves back on track.
