Brady's going to take a cheap one someday

After the Skins loss to the Pats, Bill Cowher seems to think that Brady's gonna get the snot knocked out of him sometime in the not so distant future.

really, he is going to suffer from his coach's lack of professionalism. I'm surprised Greg Williams didn't go to some all out blitzes

if the pats get to a championship game or superbowl,i think that the only way to beat them is to take out brady.it would really be a shitty thing to do,but
i could see it happening one day.remember the way rodney harrison took out trent green?as strange as it may seem,i have no problem with new england winning the way they do.to be a winning team you have to be ruthless, and there is no coach in the league as ruthless as belinchek.i'm sure one day in the not so distant future, somebody will run the score up on the patriots, and i doubt you'll see him cry over it.the only reason we are all pissed like this is because he ran it up on the redskins 52-7.if he would have beaten dallas, philly,or the giants like this,we'd have wondered why he did'nt attempt to score even more points? i think that BB showed himself to be a big asshole when he ran it up on gibbs when everybody knows that gibbs has never ran the score up willingly on anybody.i can't tell you how many times i have seen the skins have 1st and goal, leading by 10 or so points under two minutes left, and he has taken a knee 4 straight times.
he could have ran it up against dallas a few years back, but he did'nt.he even made the pa announcer turn off"mama do'nt let your babies grow up to be cowboys"during that same game.gibbs has class and respect,BB is a ruthless yet winning asshole he could care less about anything but winning!

Some team is going to be down by 4 TDs in the 4th quarter to the Pats and just say to themselves, "What's a 15 YD Personal Foul penalty?" I'm going low wheither I'm late or not!"

Kind of amusing that people crying their eyes out because they thought it was unsporting for the Pats to run up the score against us are quite happy to see Brady knocked out by a cheap shot.

A reality check is in order.

If your defense can't stop their offense you deserve to have the crap beaten out of you.

Buddy Ryan used to put bounties on opposing offensive players BEFORE the game started. You think that he would have taken it sitting down when Brady was passing the ball with a 38 point 4th quarter lead? For me, the final straw would have been the deep pass to Randy Moss in the 4th. Belichick was clearly trying to embarrass the Skins, and someday soon, you will see an opposing coach/defensive player take matters into their own hands. Belichick is making his own QB a marked man with his tactics.

The 4th and 2 didn't bother me at all.

It just gave the Pats a fresh set of downs and the chance to run more time off the clock.

By that stage of the game the sooner it was over the better.

that was my thinking at that time in the game too.boy i,m glad this is about over with....

i was wondering myself why gregg williams wasn,t blitzing in the first place i mean pick your posion..for me i rather see some aggressiveness and it never happened but what did happen is a 52-7 beatdown.

Yeah, but there are many acts that are against the rules, that is why teams get flagged. A late hit is a foul that will cost the Colts 15 yards. Supposedly it is a good while after the ball was delivered, now that would be interesting. It might not only be a penalty but a fine as well.

Sean Taylor and CP got fined for wearing a different socks than allowed (I think). Hitting Brady would make a lot more sense to me. That is why I was surprised not to see a late hit in the Skins-Pats game. Some might say the Redskins won't do it because it shows no class, well, what the Pats did showed no class either.

Bob Sanders made it easier for the NFL to fine him, and maybe a suspension if he hits Brady late.

I know the responses already actually "Would never happen, because Old Man Gibbs is scared to score"[/quote]I can cite several instances where Gibbs called off the dogs with the shoe on the other foot. During the last Super Bowl season in '91, he had a very similar blowout win against a very good Atlanta team. Mark Rypien had already thrown 6 TD passes, yet Gibbs resisted the temptation to put him back in with most of the 4th quarter remaining, despite Rypien being 1 TD pass away from tying the NFL single game record. Bottom line, Gibbs didn't have to worry about a cheap shot on his QB, because he stopped throwing the ball downfield when the game got out of hand. Same with the '91 season opening 45-0 win over Detroit, the Super Bowl win over Denver in '88, and even the Cowboys game in 2005. Bottom line, Gibbs knows how to win a blowout with some degree of grace, a concept that Belicheat has yet to grasp.

So because they are one of the best O to have ever played the game so someone should take a cheap shot at Brady? Did you even read that before posting?

Then maybe the Pats should start palying like it is. I am not against them trying to score, but to say it is not cheap is a stretch. So is a late hit on the star player of the team.

My logic is, if Brady is in the game acting like it is a normal game (when they are up by a bunch) and trying to score, fine. Brady or any other QB coud get a late hit in any game whether behind or leading by 4 touchdowns. If he gets hit, no one should complain. I am not sure that he will but we will have to wait and see.

BB must be ragging his players before every game. "They think we only win because we cheat." Him and his players are out to prove otherwise.

I'm just glad that if they do go all the way this year the footnote will be.
"Patriots win superbowl the same year they were caught cheating"

Re: Brady's going to take a cheap one someday

One of the supporting arguments for the "its not running up the score" viewpoint, is hey in baseball do you stop hitting when its 12-1. Well in baseball you don't stop hitting but if you steal a base or tag up for a close play at the plate, you are going to get plunked the next time when you come up to bat. So yes baseball is self-policing.

This is not to say that someone should take a cheapshot on Brady, b/c they shouldn't imo. However i wouldn't be suprised to see a "late hit" on Brady sometime soon.

There's definitely some irony there. But isn't there irony in people on the one hand saying "this is a grown man's hard-hitting sport where class does not apply and you shouldn't care about your opponents well-being" and on the other hand saying "it's not nice or classy to try to put some hurt on an opponent, regardless of whether it is in violation of the rules?"

I would like to say that I turn the other cheek, but I usually do not. I usually am going to try to take both of your eyes if you take one of mine. If someone tries to make themselves look good at my expense and knows they are going to humiliate me, I am going to do my best to make sure they never want to do that again. Hubris is a b---h.

I'm confused with what you're trying to say here. I also have no problem with them scoring, If we're not going to stop them, make us into an example. These guys get paid millions, have escalator clauses, and in the words of Pat Kirwan, "Points scored is on the playoff tie breaker list somewhere, rack em' up." If Brady happens to take a hit and gets injured, that's part of the game. If teams are behind and want to go blitz happy, I'm all for it. Real justice would be if the Patriots do it to themselves. Something like one of the lineman falling backwards on Brady's ankle

Re: Brady's going to take a cheap one someday

SGG, they're out there playing football. That's on a much different level than trying to intentionally hurt a player. Do I care about the other teams mental well being? Hell no. I want their spirit broken going into half time. I want that team to lay down and die every game. And to be completely honest, I'd be MORE embarrassed if another team put their backups in. To me that's more of a slap in the face than anything. If in the 3rd quarter another team is tossing in backups, that's saying you guys are so bad we don't even need our starters in there.

If you want to get to brady and hit him, fine. I was for that too. However, wishing for injury is really about the most classless thing you can do. If I had my way, every roster would have every player on their roster stay healthy. Not only would it make NFL competition better, my fantasy teams wouldn't blow this year!

Obviously, I can respect that position. I guess I didn't want to see a Redskin seriously injure the guy so much as I wanted to see someone just hit him very, very, very hard. I also would not have cared if Brady just happened to suffer an injury.

Well said Sheriff! I stand by my belief that it was classless of the Pats to run up the score, but I also believe it is equally classless to intentionally hurt the guy. However, like SS said, if one of his offensive linemen happen to roll up his leg or something, then well....better luck next time is all I say...lol!

But now if it happens to Brady after throwing in a game where they are leading by a good margin, is that cheap? Who are we to determine what was the intent of the defensive player? Now, going low maybe a cheap shot, a late hit is simply a late hit and 15 yards.

Re: Brady's going to take a cheap one someday

I'm curious to know if anyone here has ever played football at the HS or college level. If you have then I would bet that most had no problem with what went down last Sun. Most of the former players I have heard on TV/radio are killing the Redskins. Some have taken the other side like Steve Young. But the majority have all said play better and I would bet that most former and current players would have a huge problem with a teammate or opponent trying to take someone out on purpose cause the score was out of hand. Get mad and do something about.

If Ohio State schedules a D2 school and they are winning 63-0 in the 4th q then you call off the dogs. In that situation you have a serious mismatch in physical talent. In the NFL ( IMO) it's fair game because you are getting a check to play. You are paid to play and you are paid to get yourself prepared to play and that's a huge huge difference. If you can't cover a Pats defensive player who comes in to play offense and he runs the same play everytime he comes in the game then you are not prepared to play IMO.

The thought of going after someone's knee or trying to take someone out on purpose just cause you are getting killed is absurd. I'm almost shocked that Cowher even said something like that. But lets say it does happen. I would bet that Goddell would come down real real hard on someone and that is why it probably won't happen. When game checks are involved and you have a hard ass commish then guys are going to think twice. Look at what he did do Haysworth on Tenn (sp) last year.
