Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
This game really scares me for a variety of reasons. For starters it's a division game and these games are never easy, second it's not easy to sweep a division opponent, and third the Eagles are backed in a corner and desperately need a win.
Last week's all out smashmouth attack was great but let's consider the opponent. Gibbs likes to preach balance and we haven't seen much of that lately from the sputtering passing attack. I'd like to see Saunders get Campbell off to a quick start like they did against the Lions. Come out throwing and let's get Campbell in a groove early and let's hope Portis's big day against the Jets was a sign of things to come. Skins 17 Eagles 13 |
Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
I think as in the Lions game everyone will think this will be a game which Portis will set the tone and instead we hit them fast with JC throwing the ball. This sets the tone for the game and gives the Skins a fast start and we dominate from the beginning.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
i can't see the skins losing.since the majority of the wrs are banged up,i bet portis, cooley, and betts are gonna make up 90%of the game plan.if portis starts out good and the line blocks well, they'll keep running as long as the eagles do'nt stop them.i hate the eagles with a passion, but i do like andy reid.
i hope his kids get straightened out soon for his sake. |

i was thinking skins would get 17 but 2 touchdowns may be wishful thinking . . i agree with you, we get 3 field goals and a touchdown going by our recent performance when were on the opponents half of the field 16 - 10 skins win it but need a nail biting defensive stop in the last minutes to preserve the win go skins!!! |
Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
this is a tough one to call. It seemed to me that the eagles just gave up against the cowgirls. so I hope for an easy win but if they come out playing it could be a tough win.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
I agree, tough one to call. Will the iggles rally behind their leaders in hard times, or fold like they did last week? The same could've been posed about us after the NE loss, but we came out w/some determination against the jets.
I look for philly to play tough, but you have to wonder about a team's psyche when playing at home & the evil TO is killing them, yet they not only couldn't stop him, their coverages were so out of whack on some plays they didn't even pick him up! Sad to say, they don't fear us & will feel like this is a winnable game. Plus, they are a better road team, especially w/Reid's & McNabb's situation these days. I see another ugly game, though JC will get more opportunities & will hit on a deep ball or two. Once again, the D is put on the field to close the deal. Skins 24 Eagles 17 |

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
Philadelphia might be a better football team than us top to bottom. That said, we played our best (2nd best?) game of the season against them 2 months ago, and I believe we will play out best game of the season again this week. Offense, defense, special teams. Everything will click for us on this afternoon, our only home game in the month of November.

Tight hard fought, close one as usual. We know whats on the line, WE NEED THIS DIVISIONAL GAME AT HOME!

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
Offense:
I think this game more than any other so far, it is critical to get the running game going early. Philadelphia is much better at stopping the run than the pass and that will no doubt be their key for this game on defense. If we can get a ground game going, that should frustrate them a little and open it up for play action passes down the field. No turnovers. Defense: No doubt we have to take Westbrook out of the game, or at least limit his production as best as possible. He is the main threat, along with McNabb getting out of the pocket and getting some cheap first downs with his feet. Stop (limit) Westbrook, pressure and contain McNabb, and we should have a good day on defense. Oh, and a turnover or two will help as well. Special Teams: What is up with Derrick Frost? He needs to get it going. Field position will be another key. He was great for the first few games, but has not been great as of late. Hopefully he won't get many opportunities, but if he does, we can't afford to give McNabb and Co. a short field. Pin 'em deep. If we can get all this accomplished Skins 27 Eagles 16 |
Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
The Defense needs to key in on one person and one person only: Brian Westbrook. Stop him and make McNabb's allotment of #3 and #4 receivers beat a secondary that will bend but not break. However, keep McNabb on his toes...he's not the scrambler he once was. Landry will be up in the box all day...
The Eagles are going to get a steady diet of Clinton Portis, and I'd like to hope the O-Line is even stronger this week than last. Campbell needs to stretch the field a bit. 10-15 yard passes, and stop checking down underneath too frequently. Skins 20 Eagles 12 |
Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
skins 16-10. it will no doubt come down to the Eagles driving at the end of the game. hopefully we will stop them this time again.
offensively - we have to be able to attack the secondary because I dont see us running wild like we did last week. Dawkins is back, but probably a little banged up, plus their other starting safety is out. I hope to see more 3 WR sets to spead them out up front and run out of that freeing up some more lanes for CP. defensively - which team will show up? the aggressive style we saw against the Jets, or the sit back and watch zone we have used primarily. With McNabb struggling and not as mobile, I hope the mix it up with some more pressure, sending Landry at McNabb and getting some hits on him. I think we can force him into some INT's. |
Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
This is a scary game. Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook have killed the Skins in the past. Here are the keys to the game.
1) Stop Michael Westbrook. This guy will destroy your defense. He is elusive on the run and can make big plays in the passing game. You have to key on him to run and cover him with a quick linebacker or safety. 2) Score touchdowns in the red zone. The Redskins have to convert more of their scoring opportunities to touchdowns. The wide receivers need to get the monkey off their backs and penetrate the end zone. 3) Put pressure on Donovan McNabb. Get after McNabb. Keep him off balanced and concerned about the pass rush. If it means blitzing, then do it. Drill his ass! 4) Run the ball downhill. The offensive line needs to control the line of scrimmage and allow the running backs to get to the second and third levels. Portis needs to hit the holes at full speed and finish off his runs. Betts needs to step up and be apart of the run game also. 5) Challenge the Eagles secondary deep. Jason Campbell needs to take a few shots deep and hit on at least one big play downfield. If the run game gets going, I want to see the playaction pass deep and not a check down to the fullback or tight end. 6) Win the battle of special teams. Need good solid coverage. Need a couple of big returns to set up the offense with easy scores. |

I predict the Skins get the job done but not without the usual dramatics.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
In my straight-up football pool I'm picking the Birds.
The "close call" luck will run out. Philly is a cornered animal and I see our woeful, worse than 2004 offense costing us this one. Eagles win, 17-9. |
Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
I'm eagerly awaiting some Michael Westbrook jokes.

I don't think McNabb spreading the blame around the rest of his team is going to help their cohesiveness. I want to see them implode in a big way. |

Problem solved: He's no longer in the NFL. Should be easy to combat him now. |

I think it will be an absolute dogfight to the end, just like every NFC East battle this year. Don't count the Eagles out yet.

Hmmm, well I wrote that from my perspective of watching him the past few weeks compared to what I remembered from the beginning of the season and I never would have guessed that. Maybe he did so well in the beginning, he padded his stats enough so the past few weeks didn't hurt him. I don't know. It sure doesn't seem like he's been the same punter as of late as he was early on...I could be wrong though. |
Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
i don't like to make predictions. but if the skins are to be a player in this years scheme of things, this is a must win. i see the skins defense scoring. and i hope to see plenty of Mr Portis

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
If the Skins play like last week, Eagles win 21-10.
We won't be able to run the ball on the Eagles like we did against the Jets. I truly am concerned for the defense. If we can somehow put another game together like we did in the beginning of the season, we win 21-10. I'm feeling pessimistic only because we seem to be up one week or down the next. If we're down this week, I predict we beat Dallas in Dallas, but man, the Skins are really freaking me out lately. |
Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
But above all, my prediction is pain.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
Division game and the 'Skins always turn it up a notch for these. Eagles thus far have talked a big game, but are yet to deliver. The vets say the right things to the media, but inside they know facts are facts and that they are 0-3 in the division and 2-5 in the NFC. They have dug themselves into a hole to deep to crawl out of especially in the highly competitive NFC East. Their mouths say YES YES YES we will win, but thier eyes say NO NO NO way we can. They know as the rest of the league knows, their window of opportunity has officially closed.
Reid will play McNabb the remainder of the season, but just in an attempt to shop him for a trade to the Bears in the off-season. Redskins: 19 Eagles: 17 And no matter how poorly he plays, McNumb-nuts will reamin true to charater and find a way to blame anyone but himself for the offenses misfortunes. He did it last week, and he will do it this week. |

2. Stop L.J. Smith 3. Give them a healthy dose of their own medicine (screens and draws, baby, screens and draws). Redskins 31 Eagles 13 |

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
I predict a Skins victory but a low scoring affair something like 13-10. Our offense is just having a tought time right now and scoring 21 points or more is too much to ask now. Maybe when we get Randy Thomas back it will make a difference.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
I really feel great about this game for some reason, which I havent in a long time. At home against a team we've beat this season already, who really just is not very good. I think we win ANOTHER close one. 20-10.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles predictions
NFC East division rivalry games are never easy, especially when you have an aging team underperforming expectations amid numerous outside distractions. Sound familiar? The Eagles built a team that dominated for a decade, now their team is crumbling from the top down without a super bowl trophy. I expect this to be the final visit from McNabb and Reid to Fed Ex, at least while associated with Philly. Their defense still is intimidating, their strength is rushing the passer with cole & co., which matches up well with our inconsistent o-line play. Although Bugel seems to be motivating our patchwork offensive line to make serious improvement. The Redskins are making progress, and the eagles are regressing to the point that ‘re-building’ is necessary.
Redskins win 24-10. |
