I said 4-2 which leaves at 9-7 and possibly in the playoffs... That would be amazing if it were to happen.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

4-2 and the Skins narrowly miss the playoffs. And while I wouldn't discount a great run by this team, the way things are breaking down, it's going to be at least 10 wins to make the playoffs, if not 11.

While 9-7 doesn't sound like an accomplishment, it's a 4 game swing from last season, and only the 2nd second season better than .500 since 1999. Something to hang the old hat on moving forward. Don't get me wrong, I will be greatly disappointed if the Skins don't make the playoffs...just have to take things into perspective sometimes.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

Based on the first ten games, I'm going with 3-3, but it could be as high as 5-1 if they can actually play a few games where both sides of the ball are clicking on all cylinders.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

4-2 is definitely possible, at worst I think 3-3.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I think it could be a repeat of 05, they may lose the next one or the last game of the year, but I believe the Skins will win 5 of the final 6. The Bills, Bears, Giants and Vikes should all be W's. They'll either lose to the Boys or the Bucs, but they'll go 10-6

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

2-4, 3-3 at best. We're an inconsistent team. We play up and down to competition, we force games that shouldn't to stay close. While this week was a good showing by the team, I still don't think we're good enough to do much. I doubt we end above .500.

4-2.. Wins at TB, vs. Buffalo, vs. Chicago, vs. Dallas.. Losses at NYG and at Minn.. The 2nd half hinges on the TB game..

I think we make the 05 run again and will pick 5-1 and even maybe 6-0.

I said 4-2.

Wins:
Tampa
Buffalo
Chicago
Minnesota

Losses:
NYG
Dallas

3-3 to finish 8-8. The bottom line is we are just an average football team.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I think if we can hold of Tampa Bay this weekend, we'll go 5-1 to close out the year. If the Dallas game was a sign of things to come for the offense, I think once Sean comes back, we can hold it down on both sides of the ball.

Dallas will most likely be resting starters and we'll be facing people like Brad Johnston and Sam Hurd the last game of the season, so we should be able to take that game. The Giants will still be fighting for their wildcard spot, so I think we lose up there, even though there's no reason we should considering they have far less weapons than Dallas.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

A lot of it depends on this week. Big game in Tampa coming up to decide if we can make the playoffs or not, and frankly it really depends on whether Sean Taylor can play at a high level or not. If he can, we shut down a very efficient TB offense and give Garcia hell all day. If he can't we give up too many points and lose a second consecutive game on the road.

I foresee wins in both weeks 13 and 14, and I also feel that we will take one of two from the Giants and Vikings before losing to the Cowboys on the last week of the season.

Even with a loss in the Tampa game, winning the next 4 wouldn't be improbable. If we are a playoff caliber team, we should be able to bounce back this week with ST's help.

6-0! if they play like they did at dallas yesterday!

squrrelco3 11-19-2007 11:40 AM

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

5-1...I think there is a loss still left in there somewhere...but yesterday was very encouraging...if we can make it past Tampa next week, we should start getting healthy again...ST will be back, Thomas will be back...other guys will continue to heal, I think we are in decent shape to make the playoffs, I'm not sure how deep we will go after making it in...but it will be fun while it lasts.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I was torn on this one. I wanted to say 6-0 based on the overall team effort yesterday at Dallas, but to be "realistic" I chose 5-1 thinking we'll either lose this week at Tampa Bay, or against Dallas at the end of the year. I think a lot will depend on injuries and guys coming back from injuries, but if we can squeak out a win at Tampa Bay this week I may change that to 6-0.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

My orig. season W-L prediction for us was 9-7. So, here's what I think will happen for the remainder of the year:
Bucs-W
Bills-L
Bears-W
Giants-L
Vikings-W
Cowboys-W

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

3-3, if Dallas is resting its starters in the final game; otherwise 2-4.

I'll actually feel like 7-9/8-8 would be decent progress given the injuries and JC's inexperience...
I said 4-2.

Wins:
Tampa
Buffalo
Chicago
Minnesota

Losses:
NYG
Dallas
That was my recipe for the playoffs after the Philly loss. I pretty much accepted that yesterday would be a loss going in, but the way the team played, I feel even more strongly that 4 wins against your listed opponents is very achievable.

The 'Skins should have played EVERY game this year as if it were their last. Yes, they played very well yesterday. But you just never know which team will show up week in, week out. let's hope they keep rolling and avoid further injuries and get some injured players back in the mix.

This morning, I heard on Redskins Radio that Taylor won't play next week against Tampa. If that's the case, we could see a similar gameplan from Tampa that the Cowboys used yesterday. Galloway isn't quite TO, but he is a burner.

Before the ejection, Tampa got nothing beyond 10-12 yards in their passing game. After that, they continually had chances downfield. This is the type of game where if we get a lead, Gibbs/Saunders must go for the blowout to take a defensive secondary breakdown out of the equation of a win or loss.

Could be 3-3 if we lose next week. I'm also not sure how much Dallas will play their starters in the last week of he season- pure speculation now but...

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

Does anyone really know when we get Randy Thomas back? That really could make a difference. If anything, maybe down the streach it will make Joe Gibbs go for it on 4th and 1 more often. (I am still frustrated by the decision to attempt a 50 yard FG.)

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I think 3-3. Gibbs 2.0 has a pretty lame record after Nov 1 and I just dont this year being any different.

Win: Buf, Chi, Min
Lose: TB, NYG, Dal

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I say 3-3 at best, but it doesn't really matter.

If we lose to TB this week we are done. There is no way we'll get a wild card spot with a 3-4 record against NFC teams and 1-3 against NFC east so far, all the tiebreakers will go against us even if we end up 9-7.

For it to take 11 wins to make the playoffs the Lions have to win out. Playing GB twice that will not happen.

Agreed. I'm thinking the same thing. However, we could beat Dallas in week 17. If we still win those other 4 games, that'll put us at 10-6 and most likely into the playoffs.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I see us getting on a roll down the stretch, cut a few mistakes out per game and we are right we should have been all season. I said IMO from the start I thought we would go 10-6 and I'm sticking to it.

5-1 down the stretch. Every game from here on out is a playoff game, we'll start with a BIG win in tampa.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

Nice game by the Skins yesterday.
You have a QB that is second best in the division - if not now then very soon.

I was particularly impressed at how JC kept coming at the end of the game, he picked the cowboys stupid prevent defense with relative ease and looked good doing it.

Whether or not the Skins can make a playoff run will depend on how fast and how well ST can come back ...

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

Games I think we SHOULD win:
Bucs
Bills
Vikes
Bears
Cowboys

I actually think there is a good possibility to go 6-0, but I just dont think it is very probable. I voted 4-2.

We will probably lose to the Giants in NY, and then to one other team we should beat, most likely Tampa because we will still be without ST, but I think this is a very good team likely to make the playoffs, I think they believe that too, and that is more important than anything else.

I was talking to my best friend (a Cowboy fan) at halftime and congratulated him on the win based on Suisham's FG before halftime. We need to stop getting leads before halftime and maybe we'll be better off!

Damn you are more negative than I am. Its odd but I feel better after the cowpukes loss than I did after the jets win. S Taylor was the missing difference IMO. JC played his ass off. Course there was the killer Int. but the offense sure looked a lot better.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

Despite playing well against Dallas I really only think we will go 3-3 for the rest of the season. Are injury report has to be one of the longest in the league and it grows every game. We are just never going to get anywhere while half of our starters are injured, and we have all seen the depth we have at some of our positions. Next week we play Tampa and I believe ST is supposed to miss that game too, that could be bad considering Joey Galloway is a huge deep threat that always seems to get overlooked by everyone.

RMSkins 11-19-2007 04:25 PM

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I am going to stick with my original preseason prediction of 9-7, so that means 4-2.
Buccaneers L
Bills W
Bears W
Giants L (They have our number)
Vikings W
Cowboys W

SmootSmack 11-19-2007 09:50 PM

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

Well they need to go 5-1 or 6-0 to abide my prediction of 11-5/10-6. I think 5-1 is a good possibility. I keep thinking that one loss would be one that we didn't plan to lose. I've thought the Bills, but there not nearly as effective with Lynch out.

I just want us to win this weekend. We've played really well the past two week but nothing to show for it. I don't see it happening, but still I don't want the team falling into a mental funk because they're playing so hard with no results.
