Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
After yesterday's game, Jason's stats are pretty comparable to Eli Manning's and Jeff Garcia's. If the Pro-Bowl allowed four quarterbacks on the squad, I think JC would have a real shot at making it.

Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
You can guys read that, right?
|
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
i can read it, but its hurting my eyes....
i guess Eli's stats to this point are a little better but not by much. The eagles are retarded for getting rid of Garcia. |
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
You are crazy. Neither one should make the pro bowl. Eli is an overrated bum. I like JC, its great to have a YOUNG qb with actual potential who seems like he could carry a franchise one day but you are nuts if you think hes a pro bowler right now. His numbers are comparable to Griese, for christs sake. 7 NFC qbs have thrown for more TDs 9 hve more yards. So by your logic if there were four QB spots, the NFC pro bowlers would be Romo, Farve, Garcia and..... Campbell??? Did you forget that guys like McNabb abd Hasslebeck still play in this league? Get outta here.
|
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
McNabb doesn't deserve it, Hasselbeck I'll give you.
|
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
Where did you get those stats? NFL.com has something different:

Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
If I were voting for Pro-bowl today, I would pick these guys from the NFC:
1.) Tony Romo 2.) Brett Favre 3.) Derek Anderson That's not to take anything away from JC. In his first year as a starter he has outperformed Rivers (#4), Young (#3), and Smith (#1). And he's on par with Eli Manning (#1). All those guys were top 5 picks, and highly regarded when they were drafted. |
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
Not trying to knock JC, he's the first Skins QB iv'e gotten excited about for years.
McNabb will most likely make the bowl this year. 2295 yds, 13 tds 4 ints so far this year and thats throwing to a pack of oompa-loompas. Dude is a beast much as i hate him. |
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
Derek Anderson plays in the AFC.
The third spot for NFC qb is up in th air right now. Farve and Homo are locks. It'll end up being McNabb or Hasslebeck, I guess you can put Garcia and Brees in the discussion but i doubt they'll make it. Poor Garcia, he gets no love. All the dude does is win, but his stats aren't the best. |

For the record,
The NFC will be: Farve Romo Kitna In that order. |

Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
Oops, my bad. Derek Anderson doesn't play in the NFC. What can I say? I'm imperfect. :embarrass
I guess you'd have to replace him with Kitna, but he's got 12 TDs and 8 INTs. That's not too impressive, however, he does have a good passer rating and almost 2,300 yards. |
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
Yeah, I forgot about Kitna. Comparable stats to Hassle and McNabb, it'll be a toss up.
|
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
I dont care if Eli throws for 700 yds a game. I wouldnt vote for that spoiled, constant DUH look on the face son of a bitch. Its an honor to be drafted in the NFL and the chargers wasnt good enough for him or the manning clan. Im sure this has been beat to death in threads past, but the thoughts of Eli getting any recognition or praise disgusts me.
Are you taking NFL.com's word over 12th's??
Well, you do have Eli's comp% at "96.53". That's the only reason I went to NFL.com in the first place. I would have taken you at your word otherwise. :) |
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
Kitna is bad. No two ways about it.
You have to put Garcia in over him. You just have to. Back to the thread topic, Garcia is MILES above Campbell and Manning. Campbell and Manning are both pretty young, and a very good comparison. And in my opinion, its Campbell who is having the better season. |
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
Fan voting pretty much ensures that guys like Garcia don't make the pro bowl.

For some reason NFL.com has yet to update to include yesterday's games, that might account for the discrepancy (though Eli's 96.53 completion rate is clearly a typo). |

Ah, I see. That makes sense. As for fan voting, am I correct in understanding that the combined fan votes account for 1 single vote? For example, if 1 million people vote Romo for Pro-bowl QB, doesn't that just count as 1 vote for him? Then, all the other votes come from players/coaches? If that's the case, then it's really not as much of a fan-based popularity contest as most would like to believe. However, it can become a player-based popularity contest where future HOFs get in on a mediocre year because of the respect they have around the league. |

No question you can win with him if he is in the west coast offense. But he is not a top flight NFL QB. He can't take over a game. He can't put a team on his back and carry the team. That type of QB would be MILES above Manning and JC. I don't put him in that class. |

I think Eli and his pop were worrried about SD's ability to sign him. I think they were worried about SD's front office and the ownership. John Elway did the same thing. But it was for different reasons. He didn't want to play for the coach in Balt. I forgot his name but he was a real hard ass. He was famous for grabbing guys by the facemasks. |
Re: Jason Campbell vs. Eli Manning
As much as I love JC (he plays with a lot of heart), I believe yesterday was his first game ever over 300 yards. That's just not pro bowl material ... yet.

If he hasn't taken over a game, who has? 7 and a half yards per attempt while completing 64% with 3 interceptions in 278 attempts is pretty much the definition of taking over the game...every game. I don't deny that this could be Garcia's last season at the top of the game, but he's got Tampa poised to take their division despite a similar effort on defense from a 4-12 team last year, and his running back going out for the season over a month ago. He's doing even better this season than Favre is, IMO. |

I've always liked Garcia's game. He knows how to play the position as long as he is in the west coast system. He is an upgrade over Sims. But to say he is miles above Eli and JC is a going a little far. Don't you think? I would not put Garcia as a top 5 NFL QB. I don't know how TB's defense has been playing. But I would guess that they are playing much better then last year. |

Brady, Manning, Garrard, Romo, and Garcia. Roethlisberger can't have games like this past one to be on that list. Miles above JC and Eli is all about where those guys are at this point this season. Being fair to Campbell with the lack of help he's gotten, we can say he's been an above average player. Same for Manning. Garcia has been a great player thus far this season, and there's definately at least a tier of QBs in this league that are clearly better than Campbell or Eli Manning, but still couldn't be in the same class as 2007 Garcia. Palmer, Roethlisberger, Brees, Cutler, Hasselbeck, Schaub, and McNabb. All of those guys are pretty significantly better than Campbell at this point in his development, but I wouldn't try to compare any of their years to Garcia. So although "miles ahead" is a subjective point, I would definitely take Garcia's year to Eli Manning's 100/100 times. |

I understand what you are saying but I did not have a problem with what he did. He told the Chargers up front that he did not want to play for them but they chose him anyways to trade him off. Whats wrong for not wanting to play for a team. I think its funny when all these guys get drafted and talk about how excited and proud to be a part of this or that team. So no one else ever gets drafted to a team they do not like? Yes they just don't have the guts to say how they really feel. You don't like that DUH look he has going. |

Yes he did. No question. I just don't happen to think he's top 5. |
