5 in a row or we don't go

I can't give up on a football season. It hurts too much. I know i am insane. I wait all year and only get 12 weeks?

This feels like 2005. Lets get the rally caps on, lets get some player meetings, lets get some all white jerseys. 5-6... 5 in a row or we don't go. Lets just keep the faith for a few more weeks. I can't beleive the giants lost. Detroit lost and that was our opening but we are one game out. We don't deserve to be in this but we are. There are a lot of teams in it too so i know we got to win all 5. This is no joke. 5 in a row.

We are all probably going to want to bitch and moan for a couple days but lets do that and then start hoping. We have two home games coming up. Lets all be loud and cheer on the team. It should be over but it isn't so lets not give up.

Our 2005 schedule was harder with 3 games against division teams. Lets hope that dallas comes in clinched or something and we can get them on an easier week. Taylor and Thomas are going to be back. Let understand we still have a fighting chance.

We can do it. I dont like the odds and I would not bet on it but it would not suprise me if we do it. We are so close.

I would feel more comfortable with Brunell leading the 5-6 team in this situation rather than Jason but if Campbell wants to prove something here's is chance...

Re: 5 in a row or we don't go

Losing Randle-El for punt returns hurt, Thrash being out hurt because he's the backup punt returner. McCardell is horrible as a punt returner. This is another game were the Skins beat themselves again. When will they turn it around? Hopefully next week. I can't wait till we get Thomas, Taylor, Thrash, Sellers. When all those are back we will be a different team, hopefully it won't be too late.

How about worrying about winning one game instead of starting threads like this. 5 in a row is just silly talk after a tough loss.

Dallas and green bay are easily the 2nd and 3rd best team in the NFL and yet we played better than both of them but lost! We just cant finish games JC is very good but he has little talent at WR. Moss is killing us with his injuries. AND IF COOLEY DOESN'T MAKE THE PRO BOWL THAN THE LEAGUE IS RETARTED! He is our best target for JC
How about worrying about winning one game instead of starting threads like this. 5 in a row is just silly talk after a tough loss.
Maybe the team should worry about the next game. Because i am not part of the team, i can look past it. I don't really care for the difference in 8 and 9, unless 9wins gets us into the playoffs. I think 10 wins will probably be needed for the playoffs but 9 is a good possibility too. So all i am saying is that the playoffs are still within reach and as fans we shouldn't lose hope.

If I was on the team maybe i would be thinking that we should go one game at a time and see what happens. As a fan i don't see a point in that. I want to make the playoffs and i am just pointing out the fact that this is still very possible so we should rally behind the team because too many times our fans are quiet at games late in the season. But if we want to act like we are on the team... no more late nights and no more fucking bitches either.:food-smil

Re: 5 in a row or we don't go

We don't need to win ten games. There isn't some magic number for wins to make the playoffs.

9 wins does it nearly for sure, 8 wins gives us a fighting chance at a playoff spot.

Can we finish 3-2? Easily. Can we finish 4-1? Maybe. Lord knows you can only turn the ball over 4+ times in a game so many times a season.

True, but what does it matter if we really are good or not. For some reason we are still in the playoff hunt. We don't deserve it but so what? I think buffalo is a good team but we can get lucky at home and off a short week I see us having an advantage against chicago. It is very possible if we win the next two games we will be in the playoffs at the end of those two weeks. We will probably get a chance to lose 1 game and still be in it when it is all said and done.

We've been must win for weeks. The team's known it, and we still haven't won. I'm ready to look to free agency and the draft.

Re: 5 in a row or we don't go

Reality check... Every game we win from here out is a higher draft pick foregone.

This team does not play to win under it's current leadership. Sure the defense or offense will come out flashing for a game but there's never been consistency. Hell, a reasonable person could argue that neither group has even played a full game w/ what it takes to win. This season is a bust. Management ought to spend the rest of the season testing 2nd and 3rd stringers to see who is going to take over for the starters who suck and/or get hurt all the fucking time. Then the FO can better assess the team's needs through the draft (mostly) and maybe through FA. I know this wasn't supposed to be a rebuild year but hey, it's time for the fuckers who make the big bucks to face the music.

This isn't 2005 and there is no way in hell they will win 5 games in a row. Stick a fork in them, the Redskins are done and the fat lady is in the dressing room getting ready to perform.

brunell was horrible. honestly, when it was 3 and 9, everyone knew we'd have NO chance of converting...if his first option wasn't open, he'd just toss it out of bounds and then jog off the field. Teams would simply stack the box on first and second down to stop the run (bc brunell was no threat) and then they'd back off on third or blitz hard. he was miserable, and he knew it. I can't fathom having this debate. JC is a good QB, he's just making bad decisions in the red zone right now...he's young. he will get better.

I was as frustrated as anyone after today's loss but that logic is just twisted. As Herm Edwards said, you play to win the game, all the time. With Arizona somehow finding a way to lose to the 49ers today, the Redskins still have a reasonable shot to make a run for the playoffs. The NFC is a complete mess, Detroit has a very tough schedule and seemingly everyone else in the Conference is bunched at 5-6 (Chi, Min, NO, Az, and hopefully Phi). Given their poor conference record (in 2005 the Redskins had a tremendous conference record, which gave them tiebreakers over basically everyone in the NFC) they are going to need help. Luckily they have beaten Det and Arz and will get a shot at Detroit and Minnesota before the thing is over. If they keep finding ways to lose then all these scenarios become the haven of desperate fans grasping for hope, but right now they still are alive, despite their best efforts. Rackers missing that kick against Arizona (and the whole bizarre sequence of events in the desert) saved the Redskins, for this week at least.

Re: 5 in a row or we don't go

In '05 we were healthier, led by a veteran QB, with a burner in Moss. Our D was the heart of the team and a lot stronger overall. We are decimated on both sides of the ball this season and are playing extremely inconsistent. WE can't seem to put 2 decent halves of football together to play a complete game. We needed to win today and we fumbled the game away and threw a game ending INT at the end. Good teams find a way to win, not a way to lose, and that is also a big difference between '05 and '07. We can get maybe a top 10-15 pick in the draft if we don't make it(playoffs) at 8-8 anyway. I almost hope we go 6-10 to get a better pick since we are not going anywhere.

Fucking beautiful! Limpdick our way into the playoffs because the NFC is a disgrace to the sport and say woopidido. I'm talking about winning as well, but on a more meaningful level. Obviously there are guys who need to move on, so let's give the younglings a chance to show their stuff and start to improve. It helps in the future in two huge ways: betters the up-and-com'rs themselves AND gives the coaches (whoever they shall be next year) a better idea of what this team needs to address in the draft and possibly through FA. Edwards is right, and I am talking about building a winning team here. As I said, none of us expected this to become a rebuild year but who knew that Moss would become a bust, Portis unreliable, and that injuries (among many older players I might add) would obliterate much of the team?

Can we please start to think long term?

djnemo65 11-26-2007 03:36 AM

Re: 5 in a row or we don't go

Let's talk about the parallels between this season and 2005. In 05 after a promising 5-3 start, including a thrilling Sunday night victory against an Eagles team we hadn't beaten in years, the Redskins dropped 3 in a row. All 3 of these losses were heartbreakers, in which they seemingly defied logic in finding ways to lose. Against Tampa in Tampa they scored 35 against the number one defense in the league, only to fold and let a yellow Chris Simms orchestrate a game winning drive (nevermind that the refs cheated on that two point conversion). The next week was a second-half meltdown and loss to a Norv coached Raiders team that was at that time the worst in the league. Finally, there was a 17-7 home lead to San Diego lost in the fourth quarter, as LT posterized Ryan Clark to take the game in OT.

Go back and read some of the threads from after the SD game. Very similar to what we are reading now.

We all know what happened next. We beat a terrible Rams team, had god intervene against Arizona (what was that guy's name who returned the kick for a TD and blew kisses to the sideline?), and then shit stomped the division to close out the year.

What's my point? We are going to the playoffs bitches, and I don't want to see any of you whining clowns on here ever again after we do.

Hold your head up BSB, I got you!

By the Grace of god will the Skins get in. Gibbs really has to get them fired up. I thought that would have been yesterday in Tampa. I love the Skins more than i should but this stuff is getting old year after year. i think the 6th playoff spot is tied for by l5 teams maybe. Skins just need to go out and start playing to destroy the opposition. No mercy.

We here about none of the players like the New York Giant's Coach because he works them so hard and how everyone like Gibbs
Which one is in shape to play the 2nd half

Is conditioning a problem for injures and finishing plays for 60 minutes ?
I saw the tribute that Baltimore players showed and played for Sean Taylor and wished we had those kind of players that only talk a good game and not give that extra

What are the chances of winning three in a row? Not good.
