Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I know it's tough to look ahead to Sunday, it's going to be a very emotional day for everyone I'm sure.
I have no idea how the team will respond to this on the field. I do think Pedro Taylor's speech to the team was a very positive thing and it was important that they know that it's ok to move on and play football. Still, it's impossible to predict how this will impact the players and coaches once the ball is kicked off and the reality hits them that Taylor is really gone. Obviously I'm hoping for the best. A win would be very special. Skins 21 Bills 10 |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
Skins:21-0
I think you get the idea... |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
Impossible to know, but I either see the Redskins losing a close one becuase they just are "afraid" (and not in a bad way) and just too drained...or I see them coming out and absolutley taking buffalo to the woodshed and winning like 31-0...I dont care either way, but man its going to be a tough day.

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
It's going to be tough, but I'm still looking forward to the game. With the emotions that are involved, there's really know way of telling how this will go. I hope and pray that we will pull this out, it might help the healing a little more. Skins 24, Bill 20.

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
In the recent words of Dexter Manley, "Go out and ANNIHILATE the Buffalo Bills...........for Sean......that's what he would do!"
|
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
Yea, its really hard to tell with the emotions, drain on the body, and also they have lost their rutine which all players speak about. ST would want them to go out and play 100% which I think we will and we get a draining victory 27 to 10. On a side note I heard Randy Thomas was at practice yesterday and is not ruled out to play. Does anyone know any more about his situation?

Read this on cbssportsline in regards to Thomas:
TSX - G Randy Thomas took full practice for the first time since tearing his left tricep on Sept. 17 at Philadelphia but isn't expected to play. 11/28/2007
It's hard to predict this game. With everything that's happened, and everything going on, it's difficult to see which way this game will go. These players are physically and emotionally drained, and they will go out there and fight like warriors. Fight for #21. Fight for their playoff lives. Skins 31 Buffalo 6 |

I hope the skins do just that, but there is no way to really know after this tragedy! All I know is that it makes me proud to be a Redskins fan all along the way from the bad times (ole ball coach) to the great things we will do! Skins 24 bills 9 |

Bills 10 An emotional win to say the least. Sad that it comes this way, but this tragedy takes the heat off of JC. He's been dealing w/growing pains the last 2 weeks. This game gives him the chance to rebound w/out too much attention on him. He will come up big & we'll get some scores on the grnd. & air. Has anyone noticed just how much this O is clicking outside the red zone? |

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I think this game is very easy to predict. The Skins will be fired up and playing for ST. It will be their best game of the year.

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I don't doubt that the team will be fired up, my only concern is how long they can ride that emotion. They could easily burn out quickly and who could blame them. This week has been incredibly draining.

I think they will ride it through next Thurs game vs Chi because they wont have a moment to think about being burned out. After that they could crash but IMO everything now will be like a wirlwind and that wind will stop blowing next Fri morning. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
The Bills cant throw the football. We can.

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I honestly think the team could come out flat. I think it we get a quick pop or a touchdown from the jump that will give us a boost, but the moment they have to fight up hill, we could be in trouble.
That being said, the defense hits like Taylor on Sunday. And the offense rides the legs of CP. Skins 28 Bills 14 As an aside, did it occur to anyone that Taylor's jersey number reversed is 12? He'll be the 12th Man this Sunday. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I agree that its impossible to predict. But, these guys are professional beasts who want to take their grief out on someone. They don't know who to blame, so this weekend they will blame the Bills for the murder of their friend, that doesn't bode well for the Bills.

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
i think we will roll over them...the whole team will play possessed...we may give up some points on some over aggressive pursuit, but we'll make up for it in turnovers forced and a dominating offensive line. These guys are going to take out their frustrations and anger on whatever poor unlucky bill that is in front of them...

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
It can go either way. I suspect they will either come out pretty strong and start taking it to a pretty beat-up and generally less talented Buffalo team, or they will come out fired up but make a bunch of mental mistakes and turnovers and the thing will turn the other way. I'd personally be very impressed if they can ride the emotions much beyond this week regardless. Probably the worst thing that could happen would be another close loss such as they went through last week in Tampa. That might really break them. The more I think about it the more I worry about their physical strength and stamina and wonder how much they've been sleeping. Really an unprecedented situation. My brother was killed four years ago, so that is really what I think about, and I didn't sleep much at all in the first days after that, but on the other side it was a lot easier when everyone was around the house and so much stuff was going on, it was only in the time after that when you get hit with some of the enormity of the situation beyond the initial shock. Who knows, everyone is different, going to be really tough in my opinion.
I've also been thinking about a question someone posed in a thread a little while ago regarding why the death of Sean Taylor in particular seems to have effected people so profoundly. While I agree with those who responded and said that there would be grief if anyone on the Redskins died, I do think it is something specific to Sean Taylor. Certainly there are many factors, including the violent nature of the crime, but I also think that it has much to do with the role that Taylor played on the team. Most, if not all, of the people who showed up for the vigil in Ashburn did not really know Sean Taylor. They knew of him, they knew what he was a great player, and they are learning more now about the importance of his daughter and family. But more than that, what I think he represented in some abstract sense was the future. He was the one player on defense, more than anyone else, who represented a real hope for change, for greatness, for unlimited possibilites, for many great things to come. That is not to say that his death is just about football, certainly not, but to us as fans of a team that is what we lost. In some ways it is similar to what the players lost too, though the future they lost is more personal in that they lost a friend, someone they saw every day, someone they expected to see in the locker room and expected to talk to when they came back from Tampa. That is the future they lost. For his family, of course, it is more personal still and they lost a future that included the holidays, graduations, triumphs, hardships, and all those intimate experiences that families go through. They are all very different experiences in many ways, but what I think links them all is that sense that part of our future, something that we expected to happen and really took for granted, has been taken from us. That, to me, is what is so raw and emotional about the death of a young person especially. It is the future that you expected, of all the things that would have been but now won't be, that you have lost. Just something I've been thinking about and probably has a place other than the prediction thread... After all that... Skins 21 Bills 13 |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I think we see a very complete, through performance from the team.. Tragedy either unifies or destroys and I think this will be a completely unified team.. I believe the silly lapses in concentration, coming out flat, some of the things that frustrate us as fans will disappear for the balance of the year as the guys have something now that truly inspires them to do their best on every single play..
My thought is 21-6 Redskins.. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
Buffalo's top two RB's are injured, with Lynch and Anthony Thomas both questionable. Jauron has said he is "not overly optimistic" Lynch will play. They are starting a rookie QB who, despite having a 3-1 record as a starter, has thrown for 5 picks (compared to 1 TD). They are 31st in total defense (29th pass, 23rd run), and their starting DE Kelsey is likely out. No one should lose to this team at home.
That being said, our 53 players will have suffered for a week with the loss of a friend, teammate, and co-worker. They aren't sleeping, or focusing, or concentrating, and the emotions that will get them ready to play will be difficult to sustain for 3 hours. Not a prediction, but my hope is: Redskins 17 Buffalo 6 |

I think we come out with every swinging soul we got and play this game for Sean and his family. It will be an emotional day, but somehow they will pull it out and find a way to win.

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I think we actually win easily, scoring in the 30s. Jason was finally let loose for the Eagles game, and the offense has demonstrated a dramatic turnaround (the 13 points we scored last week is misleading). No doubt the two most significant passes JC threw were the two 4th quarter red zone interceptions, but he has finally been allowed to show some of his potential, and he is welcoming it. And consider that CP might be fired up for this game. Look, some may disagree, but I don't think we've seen a fired-up CP this year. He's talked about last year being a humbling experience, which many have attributed to a more reserved approach than the one we saw in 2005, when he was running like crazy on Sundays and dressing up on Thursdays. Maybe he's simply beginning to take on the seriousness of a veteran, so maybe I'm being unfair. Regardless, he may be taking Sean's death harder than anyone, which might have him focused on Sunday in a way we haven't seen all year. Indeed, the opposite could be true--he may be completely flat given Sean's death. But I'm guessing that if he takes the field, he's going to reach down deep. I don't mean to say that this game will be won on emotion. What I'm saying is that we've now established a passing game, which increases the opportunities for the running game, like it did for Betts in the second half last week. And if CP is playing with additional motivation, we have the table set for a big offensive performance against a team whose defense does not NEARLY measure up to either that of Dallas or Tampa, two teams we moved the ball very well against (the Bills have given up more than 90 points in their last two games).
With regard to the defense, consider how well it played last week on the road against Tampa. Sure, we got to play against a second string quarterback, but it was on the road, the Tampa has a superior offense to the Bills' offense, and the Bills are suffering from injuries anyway. Bottom line: Redskins 34 Bills 14 |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
what a perfect game to go out and let off all the steam...we've been waiting for this game all week, so have the players. this is a group of tough individuals who have only gotten tougher with the loss of Sean. maybe a tragedy like this will bring out the potential we all know the skins possess, in honor of #21. time to step it up, boys, you know he'll be watching.

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
Before all this I would have said Skins 28, Bills 17.
Now I dont have a clue. |

How about: 56 - 6

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
JC has a break-out game.
Defense, behind London Fletcher, shows their heart. Skins win: 27-10. Joe Gibbs finally gets some respect. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
Redskins win it 24-7
Clinton runs it well getting over 100 JC makes a couple early game mistakes but comes out strong. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I think we play a really great emotional game in memory of ST and his family this week.

Bills 0 This one is for Sean |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I just have no idea about this game. I think we can win 1. Because of the emotion and 2. Because the Bills are down to their 3rd string RB. But that emotion could prove to be too much.
Gmanc and I were talking about this yesterday and we were wondering how the game thread is going to play out. We're so sensitive right now, especially to the state of the players and coaches. We wonder at what point will someone decide it's ok to critique a player or coach. I think in some small way I'm hoping it's sooner than later. In a way, it'll feel like we're getting back to normal. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
Yea, the Skins are going to be real fired up. Buffalo will have an extremely hard time on offense, FedExField is going to be rocking so loud it will be reminiscent of the glory days at RFK.
Bottom Line, Skins win big. 42-3 Now after this game, they will either ride the emotion right into the playoffs at 10-6 or burn out and go 7-9. No matter which, skins win are "taking the Bills to the woodshed." (Thanks Gmanc711 - haven't heard that in a long time.) |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I did dream the other night that Reed Doughty made some huge play and then just pointed to the sky. I've always rooted for him, and now I am more than ever.

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
No way the Skins are going to lose this game, especially playing at home. With emotion, fans backing the Skins, and big ST smiling down on us, we win big.
Skins - 28 Bills - 10 |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
This will obviously be an emotionally charged game.
As far as X's and O's go... you can't throw them out the window. Redskins offense is beginning to take shape, and I'm anticipating scoring on our opening offensive drive. Skins 27 Bills 17 Hail! |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
One mans' loss is another's oppertunity.
We will never replace 21 out there. But we will be starting a new FS, and it gives Doughty or someone the chance to step up and establish themselves here as a defensive force. He would have never gotten that chance with ST back there. That's the silver lining here, hollow as it may be. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
Redskins 41

Re: Redskins vs. Bills predictions
I think the Skins are going to win out and here's why. The media market and the ravenous fans in DC put an unfair amount of pressure on them every year. While teams like the Colts and Pats can deal with a similar amount of pressure, they are truly superior teams (and to be fair, the Colts had to enter the playoffs as underdogs with a historically awful defense before they got over the hump). The Skins are an above average team that enters every season with championship expectations, and often underachieves resultantly.
Well that's gone now. No one is expecting anything from them. They are going to finally be able to relax and just focus on honoring their teammate the best way they can. Over the rest of the season, when people talk about the Skins talent they aren't going to be adding the obligatory "on paper." I think some teams are really going to get blown out in the near future, and I hope Sean will be smiling about that somewhere. |
