37 Reed Doughty
Fellow skins fans give this man strength to play to the best of his ability, To honer Sean Taylor and for the fact I'm sure this hit home with him because the circumstances with his child's health GO REED!
Please add I'm not good at this stuff... |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Reed will have a good game, but I hope he doesn't try to do too much...from what I hear, he's got a lot of potential.
|
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Yeah I'd love to see him lay down some big hits.
|
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
I'd be thrilled just to see him cover effectively, and not get burned deep
|
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Yeah, I would like to see him just do his job. Not give up anything big but play his part. An INT or a huge hit would be nice though :).
|
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
I've been following Reed's story since I read the WP article last year about his son. Having two daughters 2 and 1 years old repsectively really made the story hit home for me...I hope that Reed would do good so that he could keep the paychecks coming to help take care of his baby...
I'd love to see Reed step in and fill the shoes, HUGE though they may be not only for Sean, but also for Micah... Good luck this weekend buddy... HTTR!!! |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Doughty's press conference was the most moving to me. When he was asked that inane question about whether the guys were crying and he choked up and said "Of course...it's real."
Damn I miss S.T. |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
don't forget...he wears the number of another Redskins legend too...
(Pat Fischer) |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Yeah His press conference and J.C. was emotional J.C. Cried at the end of his.
|
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Reed is a young good football player, who has really good promise for our team. IMO he can be real good for us, he flies around makes solid plays and is a hard hitter.
He's also one heck of a guy. I look foward to him having a great game against the bills. |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
reed needs to step in,all we heard about Doughty was that he was a player in the making,so Hopefully he can get out there and play decent.Maybe now Landry wont be Blitzing so often cause he might need to go into coverage with Doughty.

Damn I miss S.T.[/quote] Totally stupid F'ing question by the press. I still can't believe someone asked him that. |

It was probably Art :) |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
One positive to Sean taylor's death is that a great guy in Reed Doughty is stepping in to take over. Hopefully he will flourish and his child will get better care that he will be able to afford and Sean Taylor's death will breed life for others. And for that clip of Reed, it brings a tear to my eye everytime i think about it.

Re: 37 Reed Doughty
The talent drop off is big, maybe huge, but it's unfair to Reed & 98% of the safeties in the league to ask them to replace the talent of ST. He was that gifted & was really becoming a great safety.
Reed Doughty has a tough job simply because he's replacing Sean. It's got to feel awkward to say the least. I think he can become a decent safety but is never going to be a pro bowler. We'll see a lot of Prioleau too. |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
He's been a really good special teams guy a solid tackler. Rather than moving him in and out of the lineup I'd rather see PP keep playing in the nickel and dime and let Reed stay in the standard packages. It's gotta be tough for him watching game film on the first half of the season to watch what his postion should do against different offensive options.
I think it says a lot about what the coaches think of his potential that they kept so many safeties at the beginning of the season. |

Re: 37 Reed Doughty
They should put Landry in Taylors spot to play deep coverage and put Doughty at Strong Safety. Landry is just as fast as Taylor, he can cover, and he's a hard hitter. I know he'll probably never be as good as Taylor, but if anyone on our team can replace him, it's Landry.

Maybe I'm wrong but from what I have seen of Landry he plays a lot better closer to the line. He stops the run really well but I think his deep coverage is a little suspect. I'm just going off what I've seen though I could be totally wrong - and I hope I am. |

I like the thinking on this one. The one thing we will miss is LL is quick when playing up close to get after the QB. |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Reed's greatest strength is his intelligence, a three time Scholastic All American. He does not have great speed but plays on good angles to the ball. Effective on the run, questionable on pass coverage and a beast on special teams.

His speed will allow him to range sideline to sideline the way Taylor did. I hope all of our safeties play big the rest of the year - it would be a nice tribute to Sean.

Re: 37 Reed Doughty
There is a Reason Landry was sent to Blitz so often, since Rogers likes to play 10 yards off the ball and springs has a hard time defending the deep ball, wouldnt they have put landry out to help the CBs with Taylor??
|
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Above all else, Doughty is a guy who will leave it all on the field and (dare I say it) fight his guts out. As most everyone who knows his story is aware, he has a lot of reasons to fight for a job. Last year I called Doughty the anti-B.Lloyd and I hope he earns that title in the next six games.
Nobody can fill Sean Taylor's shoes. Reed Doughty knows this, so do the coaching staff, and so do opposing offensive coordinators. But, I'd rather have a guy out there who has heart and something real to play for, than a lot of other NFL DB's. |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
i feel bad for Doughty cause he Is the guy that everone will look at when theres a big play and say "if sean was still here, that wouldnt have happend"
i think we all owe it to Doughty to remember how Talented Taylor was and go easy on Doughty, Taylors talent is unparalleled so we cant expect 37 to keep up with 21's past abilities |
Re: 37 Reed Doughty
Reed is a sure tackler but not a very good coverage guy. is it crazy if Williams switch Reed and Landry. The taylor shoes are way too big to be filled but this could stop the secondary bleeding a lil?

While I did say that Landry is a much better run stopper and playing up close to the line like a true SS, I do agree with this. Landry is still young and might be susceptible to getting burnt but not as much as I think Reed would be. Reed is a sure tackler and he is used to throwing his body into the fray, I think Reed would make a decent SS at the least. |
