No offense, man, but there's already two threads on this.

Re: News Alert: Report: Three Detained in Sean Taylor Investigation
Let's not get too excited just yet. These guys are just being questioned; they haven't been charged with anything. Hopefully these are the jerks and one or more of them confesses, but who knows at this point.

Re: Taylor Investigation: Police Detain Three, Look for Two More (UPDATED 6:30 P.M.)
The Miami Herald is reporting that police not only detained 3 men, but are searching for two more for questioning. Apparently, Sean Taylor had a birthday party at his house and at least some of the 5 men were in attendance. The Herald reports that the plan to rob Taylor's house may have been hatched after the birthday party.

Re: Police Detain 3, Look for 2 More (Pictures of Assailants, Motive)
Here is a link to pictures of the suspects. Apparently, fingerprints linked the suspects to the house. The sad thing is that Taylor's generosity and his siblings' loose lips may have killed him. Taylor reportedly gave money to his siblings, who then gave money to their friends (the suspects) and bragged about how much money was in the home. The suspects then supposedly hatched the plan to rob Taylor.

Re: Police Detain 3, Look for 2 More (Pictures of Assailants, Motive)
Please note that the two previous posts report information that has been reported by the press, but has not been confirmed by the police. If true, however, and Sean Taylor's generosity killed him, I am going to be more pissed than ever.

Re: Police Detain 3, Look for 2 More (Video of Assailants, Motive)
That's crazy. Died because he was generous? Wilbon better start writing that retraction...

Re: Police Detain 3, Look for 2 More (Video of Assailants, Motive)
A Miami area tv station is reporting that the shooter has confessed:

Man, his brother as and sister must feel awful if that's the case. It's interesting though about money being in the home because of these comments from Portis (I think this is from The John Thompson Show) "What else people don't realize is, how many professional athletes do you know that's gonna sit in the house with money or sit in the house with a lot of jewels? Even if you find some jewels in somebody's house, what you gonna do with them? You can't wear 'em, because most people got nicknames or some big charm that everybody in the world knows whose it is, because it's a nickname of somebody. If you go to try to trade it in what are you gonna get for it? You're still gonna get caught. "So you go into a house, and most high-profile people, most athletes got credit cards, most athletes don't have anything in the house. They're smart enough not to have anything in the house because [you're not] supposed to have weapons around and you shouldn't have weapons around. So who's gonna have a million dollars in cash and no weapons, you know? You're going into a house, what you're gonna find is maybe $5,000 in jewels. What you want, some TV's? You know, you come knock on the door, I'll get you a TV, it's not that serious, if you don't have anything to watch. I don't even like TV." |

Because I thought nothing was taken the first time. |
Re: Police Detain 4, Look for 1 More (Shooter Confesses, Video of Assailants, Motive)
I highly doubt his siblings said he had money in his house or that there actually was money in his house.
They need to hang all the suspects. F em. |
So that "large sum of money" was that in the safe? Because I thought nothing was taken the first time.
I bet they thought it was in there. I'm pretty sure they didn't get into the safe during the first robbery. I know some articles say it was "rifled" through, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. It would explain why the went straight to the bedroom. |
Re: Police Detain 4, Look for 1 More (Shooter Confesses, Video of Assailants, Motive)
I heard that in the first robbery the guy attempted to get into the safe but failed.
I heard that in the first robbery the guy attempted to get into the safe but failed.
Yeah, I've heard mixed things. I've heard failed to open the safe (which would explain the butter knife left behind, used to pry things open supposdly), but I've also heard they rifled through the safe. Maybe there's more than one safe? I thought nothing was taken the first time, but apparently his mom filed the police report and she may not have known there was some money or other valuables hidden there. So she never reported anything stolen. But now we could be looking at him getting killed while protecting his g/f and baby girl from guys who were trying to rob him because of money he gave it to his siblings. Damn! I don't know even know what to say to that. |

He'll say Taylor may have changed but the people around him didn't. Or something to that effect. |
He'll still find a way to say that it was Taylor's fault.
They'll all just say that they prefaced everything they said with "well it might not have to do with his past" even though they went on to blatantly impugn the man's character and say it had everything to do with the ATV incident (oh yeah, and his fines for uniform violations and illegal hits, because that's relevant). David Dupree nailed it on his interview on the John Thompson show. All these reporters hide behind the public's 'right to know' and then they irresponsibly report a story while imposing their own preconceptions. |

Look in the corner of ESPN News. They are now reporting the confession.

Re: Police Detain 4, Look for 1 More (Shooter Confesses, Video of Assailants, Motive)
The following explains what sentences Sean Taylor’s assailants may face if convicted of murder. It does not discuss the admissibility of any evidence (e.g., the confession), possible defenses, or other charges that may be filed against the assailants (e.g., weapons charges). It's a pretty quick and dirty analysis (I spent just 15 minutes putting it together), but for what it is worth.
Sean Taylor’s Killer Pursuant to Florida Statutes § 782.04(1)(a)(2), “[t]he unlawful killing of a human being when committed by a person engaged in the perpetration of, or in the attempt to perpetrate any … burglary … is murder in the first degree and constitutes a capital felony, punishable as provided in § 775.082.” According to § 810.02, “burglary,” includes “[e]ntering a dwelling … with an intent to commit an offense therein.” The planned offense need not actually occur; the mere intent to commit an offense is sufficient to sustain a conviction of burglary. Theft is, of course, an offense and, pursuant to § 812.014, “[a] person commits theft if he or she knowingly obtains or uses, or endeavors to obtain or to use, the property of another with intent to … deprive the other person of a right to the property.” Assuming that the shooter entered Sean Taylor’s home with the intent to commit theft, he committed burglary. Moreover, because the shooter unlawfully killed Sean Taylor during the course of the burglary, he committed murder in the first degree. According to § 775.082, a criminal defendant convicted of a murder pursuant to § 782.04(1)(a)(2) shall either be put to death or receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole. In short, if Sean’s Taylor’s killer is convicted under § 782.04(1)(a)(2), he is either a dead man walking or will spend the rest of his life in prison. The Accomplices Pursuant to § 782.04(3), “[w]hen a person is killed in the perpetration of, or in the attempt to perpetrate any … burglary … by a person other than the person engaged in the perpetration of or in the attempt to perpetrate such felony, the person perpetrating or attempting to perpetrate such felony is guilty of murder in the second degree." This “felony murder” rule essentially provides that if a defendant commits burglary and, during the course burglary, another person is killed, such defendant is guilty of second degree murder. The felony murder rule may seem to work harsh results (i.e., convicting a defendant of murder when he only intended to commit a burglary), but supporters argue that it is reasonably foreseeable that a murder may occur during the course of a burglary and, therefore, any such murders should be imputed to all parties to the burglary. Here, as you may have already guessed, all of the shooter’s accomplices who took part in the burglary may be charged with and convicted of felony murder under § 782.04(3). Furthermore, pursuant to § 782.04(3), felony murder is “punishable by imprisonment for a term of years not exceeding life [in prison].” Although defendants convicted of felony murder may be paroled and receive less than a life sentence, the accomplices, if convicted, will likely be eligible for Social Security by the time they see freedom. |

First and foremost, I'm just very glad it appears they have the TRASH BAGS that commited this horrible crime, off the street.
Next, in due time they will pay the price for the crimes commited. Hopefully to the full extent of the law. |

That Wardlow guy is Sean Taylor's sister's boyfriend's brother.
Sean->sister->boyfriend->wardlow The other inmates will have "fun" w/ these teenagers in prison. |
Re: Police Detain 4, Look for 1 More (Shooter Confesses, Video of Assailants, Motive)
It's a damn shame. They are so young. Young black men killing other young black men. I'm glad that I made the choices that I made in life to keep myself from turning into a statistic. I can only pray for their families. Hopefully they can turn their lives around but I honestly don't see them making it in prison that long. They shouldn't have tried to steal what wasn't theirs. They shouldn't have killed that man, they shouldn't have killed Sean Taylor. Not saying I wish they would've died that night but I wish the good guy had won that fight. I just hope the good guys win the war.
Hail To The Redskins............Hail Sean Taylor ! |
Re: Police Detain 4, Look for 1 More (Shooter Confesses, Video of Assailants, Motive)
This doesn't help me at all, in fact it makes me even sadder. It's now five lives wasted, over nothing. Shit, if they had just asked the man he probably would have given them a fucking tv. I'm even more devastated today, I need a drink.
