NFC Wildcard picture this weekend.

Wild card slots:

1) New York Giants - 8-4 (vs. Eagles)
2) Arizona Cardinals - 6-6 (vs. Seahawks)

Top contenders:

Detroit Lions - 6-6 (vs. Cowboys)
Minnesota Vikings - 6-6 (vs. 49ers)
Washington Redskins - 6-7 (vs. Giants *next week*)

Questions:

Who would we need to win between New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles? Since the Giants have Eagles, Redskins, Bills, and Patriots for their last 4 games...Should we go for the Giants to fall to 8-8? Should we go with the Giants to just pretty much automatically kick the Eagles out of the wildcard picture like the Bears this past Thursday?

If the Cardinals, Vikings, and Lions lose this weekend. Would this just mean that the Redskins will be tied for the wildcard spot with the Vikings with wins over the Lions and Cardinals?

It is kind of confusing with all these teams close together. If the 5-7 teams win this weekend...they will pull up to 6-7...and if the top wild card contenders fall to 6-7..we have a bigger situation...Maybe it is too hard to tell who is going to be in the 2nd wild card spot currently if this does happen!

Root for Philly, Zona, the Vikes, and Detroit to all lose.

We're not catching NY.

Re: NFC Wildcard picture this weekend.

Minny is probably gonna beat SF this weekend to go to 7-6, Detroit is probably gonna fall to Dallas so they will be 6-7. Since us and Detroit will be 6-7 we will be ahead of them due to tiebreakers. We need to beat the Giants next week to go to 7-7. Our biggest obstacle will be Minny because they are on fire right now and we play them in two weeks, we have to win that game if we want to make the playoffs. I don't know who Minny plays next week but we need for them to lose that game to go to 7-7, and then the week after that we play them so if we win that game we will go into the 6th seed. I'm completely ignoring Arizona in this picture but I don't think they are going to be a big obstacle, they play Seattle today and they are most likely gonna lose and if they do we will be ahead of them due to tiebreakers as well.

it seems pretty simple, doesnt it?

[quote=Mattyk72;391172]Root for Philly, Zona, the Vikes, and Detroit to all lose.

So it doesn't really matter who wins the Philly-NYG game. If Philly wins it, and we do our job, we have the 5 seed in the NFC.

Re: NFC Wildcard picture this weekend.

Its not all that hard to get in. Arizona is a team that can win out which would put us out of it because of NY. However, NY isn't definitely in. They can lose 3 of their last 4. If they lose today and lose to us they will probably fall behind us because they play the bills and the pats in the last two weeks. One thing you can always count on is a second half of the season collapse from the giants.

Unfortunately Skins fans should root for the Cowboys and Eagles this week...

It seems like people are having mixed feelings on who do we need to win for the Giants/Eagles game.

If the Eagles win...it is a good chance the Giants can have an end of the season collapse cuz their last games are pretty difficult w/ Eagles, Redskins, Bills, and Patriots. The Giants would be 8-8 which open up more things.

If the Giants win, they clinche the wildcard and the Eagles will be tied with the redskins with a division 2-3 over the redskins 1-3. This will stiffen things up more in the final wildcard spot.

What I know is that the lions have to loose and I'm worry cuz I'm watching the game right now, they are leading and playing pretty damn well. They are leading 20-7 before halftime.

Yeah I def. had Dallas winning this game, and i'm suprised Detroit is up 20-7. If they win they are making things a lot more harder for us.

Dallas can score quick. Let's hope they do.

20-14 Detroit at the half. Dallas seems to be heating up.

And just like that...20-14

Sage Rosenfels with 2 TDs. 21-7 Houston over Tampa

Re: NFC Wildcard picture this weekend.

Heres how I see it right now, NY will probably finish 10-6, losing to NE and either us or Philly. Philly is outplaying them right now, NY Giants, that is. If the iggles beat them, think we can catch them, with a win next week, because they would finish at 2-4 in division. We win out and we finish 9-7 too and are 3-3 in the division. Zona is gonna lose, Minnesota can drop a easy one, and Detroit may never win again. We can have a chance. I am more confident in our team in the Dallas game than the other 2. Those teams are fighting for their lives. Dallas can clinch today, and wont have anything left to play for. The teams that are closest are 5-7 Carolina, and New Orleans. They could both give another loss and be out, which could make things simpler, because if the 6-6 teams all lose, and we win out, its ours.

Detroit still has to play GB again so them winning today isn't too bad

Lions 27 Cowboys 14. This isn't a good sign.

If the cardinals lose then we need the saints to lose monday night to have the 6th spot.. We are 4-5 in the Nfc and N.O. is 4-4 and a win for them monday over atl would put them one game up on us in the wildcard.

Definitely, Eagles lost, Panthers lost, Lions lost. Everything is coming up Millhouse.

Now if SF can just beat Minnesota... pfft.

SF already did us a favor by knocking off AZ earlier. We control our own destiny with Minnesota. Seattle is taking it to AZ right now, 17-0.

not concerned about the minnesota game since we still have them head to head, though it would have helped if they lost, it aint happening though

Vikings should be #6 and I guess the Skins would be 7th? Does that sound right?

That is technically correct as of this moment. Skins control their destiny right now. Win out and they're in. It's as simple as that.

Adrian Peterson held to 3 yards on 14 carries. You see numbers like that and you figure the Niners won easily

So we're essentially tied with the Vikes now for the 6th spot.

Re: NFC Wildcard picture this weekend.

idk how you see it like that, they are 7-6 and we are 6-7. We need to win next week to keep pace with them. Then in two weeks we can take the #6 spot from them and then we just need to hold in week 17 and we'll be in.

I think the assumption was clear. We are even with the Vikings as in if we beat them we aren't a game behind them because we win the tie breaker. Them being a game up on us doesn't mean anything at all if we hold the tie breaker by winning the upcoming head to head match up.

Oh and we are forgetting the Saints. If they win out they are in due to a better conference record than us.
