For everyone that didn't give up!
The Redskins have rewarded our faith with an intensely important game in week 17. There have not been many of us that remained faithful and believed in the 07 Skins, but those that have...pat yourselves on the back. You are a solid reason why the Skins have been successful lately. Faith is a powerful thing.
I'm going to take the high road here. I could write a list of people (a long list mind you) that gave up on this team, and some that made threads about our demise, but instead of dwelling on that, I am inviting everyone to enjoy where we are RIGHT NOW. We have a chance to make the playoffs with only 1 more win. Win and you're in. It doesn't get much better than this. For as corny as this sounds, let's all join together and enjoy this as a whole as only we can do as the best fans on the planet. I forgo any grudges I have on posters here that have been less than optimistic, and I look forward to ALL OF US enjoying a victory over hated Dallas to get into the playoffs. Who's with me? |
Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
As long as coach Gibbs is the coach, I never give up, ever!!
|
Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
You don't have to name names, everyone knows who they are. I'm not much of a homer so I guess I'm in the list of unfaithful. A playoff birth is nice but I need and want a SB caliber team. Through all the excitement one needs to be mindful that the Skins are going to be a 9-7 team.
|
Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
Gotta love football.
After it's all sad in done, we're playing a meaningful game during week 17. That's pretty awesome. Let's go skins, it's DALLAS WEEK! MERRY CHRISTMAS! |

Only 1 team a year is happy at the end. The other 31 have to hope that next year will be "the year." |
Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
jsarno, good thread! My cup is ALWAYS at least half full! I've been rooting my beloved team on this year, and 40+ prior it never stops for a true diehard WIN or LOSS!
I hope and believe they can give us the WIN we need to get into the playoffs this weekend, and I'll be there to root them into victory. When we finish off the cowgirls everyone is 0-0, it's a new season! Then I'll be rooting for our next SUPERBOWL RUN, YOU GOTTA BELIEVE! HAIL TO THE REDSKINS & KEEP THE FAITH! |

thanks for not calling anyone out... passive agression is always the high road! ;)

Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
We're all fans here baby. Lets get to the playoffs and get ready for a few wins. Like A.R.E said, 5 games to go. I never gave up but that is besides the point. The week of buffalo was the worst week of my redskin fandom life.
The thing is, the league won't remember sean like we will. He will be honored a few times again and then be forgotten. His name won't be brought up. I would like him to be remembered for how great he was. The only way to do that is to win, win, win. People remember the steelers super bowl for Bettis because they "won it for jerome". If we do the impossible and make noise in the playoffs, Sean Taylor will be remembered throughout the league. The media will talk about his inspiration and more. I just want the league to never forget who sean was and not look at it as an event. On a side note: I was so close to putting 20 dollars on the skins making the super bowl at 100:1 odds. That would have been nice. It was 300:1 to win the super bowl at that point also. I didn't only because i have never bet online so i didn't want to transfer the money online. Whatever. |
Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
Call pessimists out...its all good - as a doubter I'll happily eat crow if we make it to the playoffs. Still not convinced about this team and coaches being consistently high performers. A few shaky wins and close losses to start next season, and the doubt will percolate onto the threads again.
The thing I was wrongest about is how well the offense could function under Collins. That's been the most surprising thing the last 3 weeks. Especially the domination of NYG and Minn on the road. Ole Joe hasn't been mismanaging games either. Great job getting the troops fired up to play. |

[/QUOTE] I think all the skins fans across the country said the same thing at the same time when Campbell went down..."SHIIIT!" I'm am thrilled Collins is playing as well as he is, and I am really hoping that Gibbs doesn't get the bright idea to play Campbell again assuming he's healthy. Don't fix what ain't broke. |

Well since we already have three, you want us to win our fourth. And I don't know of one living ass thats a REDSKIN fan that also doesn't want that FOURTH SB TROPHY. If anything other than the fourth SB title is "unacceptable" then IF the team you are suposed to be a fan of happens to come up short, then what does someone like yourself do? |

Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
this is the question I have been asking myself for about 8 weeks now. The only other time an undefeated team played in the super bowl, who did they play??????
perhaps we will get a chance to win this time? |
Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
I thought about creating a thread based on our team's chances in the NFC. Assuming we make the playoffs, which I think we can, I'm confident that we can play well against every team represented. There was really only one team in which they truly showed us that they were the better team. We played a lot of mistake-laden football that cost us most of our games. Shooting ourselves in the foot was our theme this season for many games. It seems like we've settled down, provided decent running lanes, adequate pass protection, kept the ball and sustained drives. Our team is still loaded with talent on both sides of the ball in comparison with every team (in the NFC).
You might think I'm touting us as some powerhouse team, but I'm not. The NFC is weak, very weak. We're a decent team among other decent teams. We have a definite shot at running the table. Remembering our losses to Green Bay, New York and Dallas, we were in commmand until the wheels started to fall off. Two of those games were at their house on top of that. If those wheels stay on in our rematches against some of them, then victory is ours and not surprisingly so. Oh, and I agree with this original post. A lot of people gave up a little too early for my taste but to each his own and let's all stand together and root for the Skins all the way to the final game. |
Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
Jsarno! I missed you on Sunday buddy. Some people were getting down and out because the Skins were letting the Vikes hang around but I must have accidently drank some kool-aid cause I was alllllll Redskins allllll day.
I wish you were there to have had my back at sometimes but I knew you were sippin the aid in spirit. Can't wait for Sunday!! Happy Holidays to you and your fam, btw. :) |

I mean, that's what the game is played for isn't it? If they don't win I get terribly upset especially if they make the playoffs. I suppose I'm a different than most fans. I'm not a football fan, I'm not an NFL fan, I'm a Redskins fan and I could careless about everything else. If they don't win the SB it takes me until the start of next season to get over it. |

Im a football fan now, but when i was young I was a skins fan only... I took the games one at a time, though. I never payed attention to playoff standings or anything. I was happy when we won and mad when we didnt, usually, but either way it was week to week. Of course I want my team to succeed, but I've been watching for the moment for a long time with this team because we haven't had a lot to cheer for otherwise, and right now I'm very excited to be in the position we're in. The win last week was incredibly fun to watch, and I'm so pumped about this week's game I want to punch myself in the nuts! |

I hate to use the word parody, but with todays NFL the difference between 9-7 and 16-0 is very slim when it comes to the playoffs...come out and have a bad day, and your done. Once the playoffs begin everyone is 0-0. Slip one time and your done! Now is the time to peak! Forget that we are 9-7....its trivial IF we beat Dallas. It doesnt matter what we were in November. We are playing our asses off now...one step from the post season...9-7 is past tense...the future is what we are! |

I really don't feel like taking the highroad, but I don't remember who the idiots were claiming that mathematical probabily meant less than their own gut feelings, so I can't call anyone out.
And I may have been wrong about Collins, as I did start that Tim Rattay thread in the offseason. |

Well I have said several times in the past weeks how I could not understand how people could come here, post all week, talk about being a big fan, etc... etc... then when we have the "Pick the Winner thread" they pick the other team to win. I just will never get that because I have enough faith even when we are really playing poor that we can win the game.

Re: For everyone that didn't give up!
Have you guys ever wondered why teams from lower seeds often make it to the conference championship game if not the Super Bowl? It's often because their teams are having to finish strong just to make it into the playoffs, while the upper seeds usually clinch playoff spots by week 11, and kind of start drifting toward the finish line. In the case of the Redskins, if they can beat Dallas this weekend and make it in, they might have the advantage over the other teams. They are finishing strong and are red hot right now. In fact, everything seems to be working exactly the way it was meant to be. We can probably credit a lot of that to Todd Collins, but the team as a whole appears to have stepped it up a couple of notches.
Back ups or not, can you just imagine what this team will feel like if they dominate Dallas like they did Minnesota? |
