Redskins Exploiting Sean's Death?

A reporter for The News Tribune (a Washington State paper) wrote an article implying that the Redskins are exploiting Sean's death. Nice.

As you will note, the d-bag noted that the Redskins are seeking good luck from a man "who was neither lucky nor charmed." Made my blood boil.

What a turd.

Let the team and players grieve and honor Taylor in whatever way they see fit.

This happened what, 6 weeks ago? And this d-bag is basically telling the team they should just "move on"?

Who does this guy think he is? What an idiot.

Clare Farnsworth from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer was on First Take this morning to discuss the Seahawks' mentality going into this game, and in his failed attempt to say no one is really giving Seattle a chance said (and I'm very slightly paraphrasing here) "The Seahawks have decided to cancel the game because of Sean Taylor's death...no, but seriously."

F him

Re: Redskins Exploiting Sean's Death?

The way I see it, this guy just exploited Sean's death by writing a biased and totally slanted article, so that it would be picked up by the AP and run across the country. Pot, meet Kettle...

Re: Redskins Exploiting Sean's Death?

Really. If they want to grieve, talk about it, or do whatever let them do it. I think in all that they are doing, they're simply trying their humanly best to honor a friend and teammate.

I think the bigger message the Redskins are sending is that with Sean or without Sean, this playoff run is because of Sean.

Re: Redskins Exploiting Sean's Death?

I can see how someone would ask that question but I feel its in poor tast. I myself think that they are just trying to honor ST and in a way using him as motivation to play hard as he would want them to do. This article does not shock me.

Re: Redskins Exploiting Sean's Death?

What a douche. I don't wish ill will on others, but I hope when/if someone close to him dies tragically and when he tries to honor their memory, some cantankerous a-hole like himself, comes around and spits on his spirit. This whole article almost sounds like he's been conspiring with Michael Wilbon. Reminds me of something he would say.

McGrath and Wilbon = Tools.

Lately it seems all the predictions I'm hearing are in favor of Seattle.

WHAT a douche. I basically just wrote him an email saying that you're a total asshole and I hope the Redskins pound the shit out of the stupid Seahawks.

This guy was likely never on a team for any extended period of time. It's extremely tough to lose a teammate, especially one that has been around you on the road and the lockerroom for many years like Taylor. This is like losing a spouse since they spent more time with Taylor than they did with thier spouse. Even tougher for guys like Portis and Moss since they played with him in college. Had this guy been someone that regularly played on a traveling team in high school, or even college, he'd know this.

Re: Redskins Exploiting Sean's Death?

What the hell is the big deal about leaving #21 listed in the starting lineup?? It was probably something that was decided upon weeks ago as a tribute for the rest of the season.

F this guy for trying to make it seem like the Skins are exploiting this situation in any sort of way. The entire organization has handled this brilliantly, from Snyder flying the entire damn franchise down for the funeral, to Snyder setting up a trust for his daughter, and to the way the team has played their hearts out in his honor.

Seriously, just F this guy.

I don't even wanna waste my time writing him. He'd probably just wave his first amendment card at me. To me this whole article just proves that Seattle is afraid of the Skins. That DC is rallying so hard off of ST's death that they need to find something to bitch about to make themselves feel better.

But what a shitty thing to whine about. I'm not saying the whole country needs to talk about Sean, but man, this is about a team grieving in their own way and this guy just shit all over it.

My reply (in their comments section):
While the 53 players on the Seattle Seahawks prepare for a difficult game against an inspired opponent, you choose to give the Redskins more fuel for their fire. As a Redskins fan, I say "Thanks!"

Consider this, if you will. Since the Redskins buried their fallen teammate 32 days ago, they have beaten every opponent they faced. Two playoff teams, one team ahead of them for playoff contention, and the defending NFC champions - all lost to a team that many thought could lose out after the murder of their lone Pro Bowl starter. Clearly, they have drawn inspiration from something... and you choose to mock them.

Someday I hope to have a job like yours. Maybe on that day I will remember the lesson you have taught me today - "By denigrating the memory of a man who died in his home protecting his child and fiancee and those who choose to honor him, I can raise my profile enough to defend myself on ESPN2, and cast off the shackles of a four column a week existence on Seattle third best paper." I salute you sir!
What a little piece of shit. I would still be grieving if my friend had died a little over a month ago. It is the same season. Is the team supposed to say; Sean is dead, that is over, move on, and don't talk about it? That is stupid. Who is he to say how people should grieve. Mother fucker. I feel like e-mailing that asshole everyday for a few weeks. You have to remember that football players are people. Its not like everything that happens in their life revolves around football and this is most definitely one of them.

Would he question a family who continued to hang a stocking for a deceased relative every Christmas? Does he laugh when people get the initials of a dead friend tatooed on their arm? Does he think Christians are exploiting Jesus for wearing crosses?

This guy is such an ass.

I saw that too. I don't know if they are representative of Seattle's feelings, but why say anything? Both individuals are so glib that it really makes me hate the Seahawks with a burning passion. The game just became even more important for me. Hopefully the Skins feel the same way.

Re: Redskins Exploiting Sean's Death?

The Farnsworth comment really took me back. I almost couldn't believe what I had just heard. That's more than a lack of class. This team is mourning, and playing for their teammate.

Was he trying to be funny? Who knows. It just seemed like the comment came from way out of left field, and was sort of a stab at Bram's meaningful and accurate representation of how this team is feeling.

I sent Farnsworth an e-mail regarding the comments re: Sean Taylor. I basically said it was a classless act. I received the below email message from Clare a few minutes ago.

And if that's a sincere email, why not write back and tell them to put their money where their mouth is and actually write an apology on the site?
