With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC.
It sure would be nice to see all the interviews finalize for our next HC, which I certainly think will be GW. How many darn interviews is GW gonna go though, hes only been here 4 years. I understand its a new job and alot of fine details to be worked out. But for cryin out loud 4/5 interviews, 8-12 hours a pop?
Maybe I'm fooling myself but some of these other candidates, Meeks, Mora, etc. it sure does appear on the outside to be a waste of time. But thats just my thought. I sure would like to see us have our next REDSKIN HC in place. Hopefully by weeks end. I'd love for us to make the hire tomorrow before I leave for vacation
(Otherwise, Gmanc make sure you text me) |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
I like the mora interview. I think he's got potential. Other than that, I agree.

I say it'll finished in the next hour or so . . .
|
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
G-R double G by Saturday.
|
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
I think we'll know by Friday evening or like Schneed10 said Saturday.
I wish it was tomorrow! |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
I doubt that there will be an announcement until Sunday at the earliest. I still think it will be GW but Danny doesn't want people to say that he did the obvious choice without due process. Now he can honestly say that he interviewed the best available and chose the best man.
|
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
Whats the big rush for? Danny said that Gibbs taught him not to rush into things and that seems to be what he is doing.
|
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
Yeah I don't see the need to rush it either. Obviously you want someone in place soon so they can begin working on the offseason stuff. Seems like GW is pretty much a lock at this point.
You don't meet with a guy 4 times unless there's some pretty serious interest there. Knowing that, Snyder is just feeling things out, seeing who's out there, doing some networking perhaps, and maybe eyeballing some possible new assistants and/or front office folks. |

I get the feeling that DS does not really want GW but keeps bringing him in in an attempt to convince himself that GW is the guy even though he does not want him. |

Or they are running over different senarios for posable assisstants to take his place or other people who may not be staying with the team if GW does become the coach. |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
i,ll be here when it goes down but until then i think dan has learned from gibbs afterall.
take your time and do it right cause theres no rush... i,ll be here when they make an announcement.. |

I'm shocked you would look at things that way. ;) I believe if Snyder had other plans and wasn't targeting GW, why would he waste his time with 4 interviews? He's been spending a ton of time with him, Snyder didn't become a successful businessman by not trusting his gut. I just can't imagine someone like him wasting his time on something that he didn't believe in 100%. Would you meet with a potential employee 4 times just to convince yourself he's the right person?? I know I wouldn't... in fact I would know pretty early on whether that person was a serious candidate or not. |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
Gotta love the off season.
Love the new logo! |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
I'd like to see it as soon as possible to see what happens with Saunders, so we can move with another OC in case he decides to leave. I'm afraid the good OC's will disappear and if we lose Saunders then we'll be screwed.

Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
I say monday at the earliest, or maybe later in the week to coincide w/super bowl hype.
I agree w/Matty, I think the multiple interviews are a good indication that GW is the man & they must be ironing out some serious biz. the one thing I fear is that they are giving great discussion to booting AS. I hope Snyder is requiring that he stay, maybe there's discussion related to that too & how they will proceed in 09 when AS' contract is up. |

I would bet that something isn't going as planned and this could be a bad sign. |

They could be working out how much involvement GW would have in personnel matters, who they are going to keep on the coaching staff as well as finding potential replacements. I'd imagine there could be a ton of stuff to work through. Since getting burned by Spurrier Snyder has taken on a meticulous and careful approach to finding new coaches and this seems to fall in line with that. I just don't see why the would continue to meet if Williams wasn't a serious candidate. |

Good catch. I am speculating with Matty about why GW is having so many interviews. |

Daniel Snyder has probably made up his mind as to who his head coach is going to be, and that guy is Gregg Williams. These other interviews are to "get to know" Williams better, to talk football philosophy, and to work out fine details in regards to Williams' contract and who he wants on his coaching staff. Some of you may think this can all be worked out in one lengthy session, but I'd rather these men take as long as possible to make the right decisions. Interviewing these other candidates are also vital, because you always keep a backup plan or two, in case the first guy doesn't workout. You also look for several other things. Such as possible future assistant coaches (you know Snyder can be persausive) and also to scout other teams. It doesn't surprise me at all that Snyder and Williams are "interviewing" this much. I'd also add that the language of "third or fourth" interview is to stay within the rules of keeping the job "open" until the Rooney Rule is satisfied. Otherwise, Williams would be hired officially by now, and these other "interviews" would be nothing more than meetings. |

He could be building bridges to the future in the event things do not work out for Williams. If he does get the job I'm interested in seeing the length of the contract. I'm sure Snyder will make the right decision, and he's taking this vacant opportunity to gather as much information as possible for future reference. |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
Does it matter..you guys know as well as i that GW will end up the man...bye bye Al Saunders welcome back limbo era
|
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
COME ON!!! Do we all think that this is really a "4th interview", they probably have everything already worked out but the signature on the dotted line, until the Rooney rule is satisfied. They are already in player discussions....i.e. draft picks, available free agents, free agents to be on the skins, aka springs etc...
Am I the only one that feels everyone else is being very naive about this, he ain't a multi-billionare at 35 for nothing.....He knows what he is doing and is playing the "game" by the rules. We have all done it some time another.....whether it be football or business, rules is rules.....but COME ON!!! |

Why IF GW gets the job, which I DO think he will. IF the club were to sever ties with Al, which I DON'T think they will? But if so...... Why would we all of a sudden be in limbo era? |

I'm having a very slow day at work and JLC hasn't updated the Redskins Insider since yesterday and I feel like I'm losing my F'ing mind!!!
I feel like a kid trying to go to sleep on Xmas Eve night. I need an update, even if it's just a rumor or lie. |

No BS.
Please keep us posted because I'm at work and can't really listen to it right now. Does anyone know when the team interviewed Meeks from Indy? I hate to sound dismissive of the Rooney rule b/c I do respect its purpose, but I know we can't make a formal announcement until we've complied with it. |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
I think these multiple interview sessions are actually working meetings. I think Greg Williams is the guy and the announcement is postponed until the Rooney rule is satisfied.

Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
Per Al Koken on Sportstalk 980,
One of his "sources" say that they have been organizing the conference room at Redskins Park to get it ready for a press conference. Whether that will happen today or tomorrow, he doesn't know. But it does seem like they're getting prepared to have a press conference very soon. |

No BS.
Way cool. I know Meeks was suposed to interview today. I wouldn't think it would take to aweful long after that we should be finding out who our new HC will be. Hint: GW.....lol |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
Ok Schefter is on 980 now.
First things first, he said he thinks Monk gets in the HOF this year! Thats great, great news. Snyder had breakfast with Mora Jr again this morning. He said that he actually slept over last night suppsosedly. Schefter said that even though GW is the front-runner, don't be surprised if Snyder hires Mora Jr, or Meeks for that matter. I really don't want Mora Jr! Damn it! |
Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC
The sleeping over thing doesn't really bother me...he did fly across the country...who knows, maybe weather kept him from flying back, and at this point I won't be surprised if he hires the Hamburgler to be the next coach...but I don't think anyone can deny that GW has earned it, and that hiring anyone else will cause a major backlash.
